Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 begins to appear in stores

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, the sequel to one of the biggest selling PC games ever, has started to appear on store shelves in the Greater Cleveland area a week before its scheduled release. Target stores appear to have a few copies, and EB stores say they expect it this week.

You can order Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 from Amazon.

WHY!!!!!! I was at teh Target Great Land here in Glenview Illinois and to my horror a copy of RCT2 was sitting on the shelf! I didn't buy it because First I'm Broke and I ordered mine from Eb games in April! I scanned it on the price check and the machine read Roller coaster Tycoon and no price. So I put it back and cried on the way back to the car. So close yet too much extra $$$ to purchase a few days before.

Have you ever been to SFGAm and seen Deja Vu closed? If you have then go again and it WILL BE DEJA VU!

Sorry I couldn't hear you, The voices in my head are drowning you out.

STILL no sign of it in Austin, TX. :-(

RCT2 is still on the shelf at Target here in Louisville. Just picked up a copy at the Dixie Highway store. Still several left...

I live in Houston. The Walmart on 290, just before the beltway has a ton of RCT2. Its on the bottom shelf kinda hidden just look for it, there are plenty. What was funny is that when i went to go by it, it would not ring up. The clerk got frustrated with it and rang it up as a prescription drug!

Too funny, and so true!

I needed a friday night fix and got it. The game is really cool looking, TONS of new stuff , and the thing that I loved the most, if anyone remembers the old "big bend" at SFOT, well it has one. Real Cool.

Good luck to all on your Search!

One question - What do people mean by the block system? I know what it is in real life, but is it required to use this in RCT, and if so is it fairly easy to do?

Also - are the scenario and track editors in the game or outside of the game in a different program?

The block system is not used on all ride types, and most types of rides will allow you to run it without the blocks. The blocks do however make the ride design process more interesting.

Hey guys....it been found in Toledo! The Kmart on Reynolds Rd/Southwick has 6 copies on the shelf. I used the check out yourself thingy and didn't have the 99 years old age problem.

Also, the Target in Spring Meadows has a tag on the shelf but no copies out.

I found it at Kmart in Middleburg Hts., on Bagley Rd., and I-71 (in Ohio). They had alot of copies on the shelf, and yes you can buy them!!! I got mine!

I don't have a signature yet!

I was dissapointed when I went to my local Wal-Mart today. They had about 25 copies, but you could not buy them.

The buzzer that used to be rampagelover.

He he, I found a copy but didn't buy it b/c I already preordered it from amazon.com.

I bought mine from Target in Michigan. All I have to say is hope you guys have a strong computer to run it!! One thing I don't like is when you start the ride, it doesn't have the red, yellow or green traffic lights, it has a stupid flag. Wish it was just like the first one, just with all the new rides. Everything seems smaller.

Could someone who's got the game stick some screenshots up of the B&M flyer in particular?

Is 30 the maximum number of boats you can have on the log flume and can you build steep drops yet??

It's scary how close I came to driving over to Houston to buy this game. That would be a nearly 7 hour round-trip. I'd be too tired to play it when I got home! I guess I'll have to wait. The people who run the stores in Austin are either too competent or too honest or both. How annoying ;-)

Yeah, how 'bout some screens of the intamin giga, B&M flyer, and 4D?

I bought a copy of RCT2 last nite at MicroCenter, on Bethel Road (Columbus, OH) - $29.99 - They had tons of them and no one questioned me about it when I bought it. =)

Just bought mine in Boulder fired it up on my computer, it rules.

I used to live in Columbus right next to MicroCenter. Figures I'd have to move to one of the FEW areas of the country where this game doesn't seem to be available at all, anywhere, not even an empty spot for it, no signs that it's even coming... (sigh).

Two more days... it's like torture reading everyone else picking it up at places I know well and used to live near!

EB in Greenwood, Indiana (just south of Indy) has Rollercoaster Tycoon 2! I haven't slept in days!!!!

At this point, I don't think anyone cares what stores have what. How about some screens?

Hurry up with those screenshots I'm really desperate to see more of the B&M flyer !!! Please?!!

I'm gonna blow. I need my fix because I've got to wait until Friday at the earliest.
Sorry about the nagging :) *** This post was edited by Daltontowers on 10/14/2002. ***
