Progress Reports and Accomplishments

I'm not a hardcore DDRer so I'm still on beginner mode whenever I play, but I did get my PE teacher to let us have 3 days where all we did for an hour and a half is play DDR.

I don't even think I've gotten an A on a song yet, so I shouldn't even look at this board anymore.

I got a physical the other day, and my doctor asked me what kind of fitness or exercise plan I had.

It took me about 2 minutes of mumbling before I got her to understand the concept of DDR, but when I did, she said it sounded like a great workout. :)

I A'd Paranoia Evolution in light mode yesterday. I probably could've done that ages ago, but I had not gone back to any light songs in a long time until I realized I was out of shape.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I counted my Heavy AA's yesterday and I'm up to 31. Still no catas though.

It's weird, when I first got DDRMAX, I liked certain songs and hated others. Then, I started getting tired of the ones I liked, and started liking the ones I hated. Now, I hate *those* songs, and I'm starting to like even more songs that I never played before or didn't like. Stuff like Silent Hill, I Was the One, Broken My Heart, Get Me In Your Sight, etc., are the songs I play all the time now, rather than my old favorites like AM-3P, The Cube, etc., which I haven't touched in weeks.

I tried MAX300 a lil while ago for the first time in a long time, and to my surprise, i was able to read the arrows much better now. A couple more times of play and a passed it. So i'm hoping that i can now beat 300 consistantly. (And yes, DDR is probably the best workout i get)

I've never really played heavy much, but to my surprise I AA'd "Let's Talk It Over." Not a fast song or even hard to follow, but wow, so many steps. I need to get my stamina back up before I really start trying to attack heavy mode.

Wow, I can't even come close to passing Max 300 yet. Though I did pass a few more catas yesterday at the arcade. They were:

-Frozen Ray (seemed easy)
-Waka Laka (yes, I know, it's not a cata... but it should be!)
-Breakdown! (finally!)

I tried Burning Heat five times but still couldn't pass it, even on x1.5. Although I made it to the third-to-last arrow. :(

I'm not playing at the Bowling Palace anymore. It's the cheapest place in Columbus to play, but they don't take care of their pads. I got C's on several freeze-intensive songs that I usually A because I missed 3/4 of the freezes due to bad pads.

w00t, got my first AAA last night, on Baby Baby Gimme Your Love light.

The closest I've gotten to a Heavy AAA is 8 greats on Cutie Chaser Morning Mix.

BUMP. Latest reports, after this afternoon's GameWorks visit:

I full-comboed my first ever 9-footer today. Tsugaru of course. No AA though.

New 9-footers passed:
-Burning Heat! (finally! Surprisingly it wasn't much trouble. Although this gets an asterisk because I used x1.5)
-Afronova (I can't believe I'm just now passing this but the crossovers at the beginning destroy me. Also got destroyed by the ending... I hit maybe two of those jumps.)
-Kakumei (first time I had played this... what a great song!)

Played some doubles too - Afronova doubles light is great fun. As is Burning Heat! standard.

I noticed that Witch Doctor is actually an 8-footer. Yeah right!

OK, this is four posts in a row for me. Apparently no one else is accomplishing anything.

Anyhoo, last night got my first 9-footer AA*. On a song I never expected... the sloooow Orion .78 Amuero Mix (x1). It surprised me since I don't play it that often. I thought my first AA would be Tsugaru or CSFILSM... oh well.

*Actually it was an A, because I was playing on Konamix, where you have to get all perfects to get an AA. But since I had only 34 greats out of 320 steps, I think that would've ranked a AA on any arcade machine - and definitely on MAX at home.

OK, I'll post something then. Tried Healing Vision (Angelic Mix) in standard at home for the first time. The good news is that I really like the steps in the song, and despite the speed, I can keep up with it. The bad news is that I'm too damn out of shape to finish it. After about a minute my body says no more and I crash.

I'm now hell bent on getting into good enough shape to beat it.

Speaking of being in shape, I learned yesterday that it's not wise to play two sets of all 9- or 10-footers in a row. I was so dead last night after 90 minutes of DDR that I literally did not move from 6 to 10 p.m.

Anyway, my new accomplishment is Cata Full-Combo No. 3 - Can't Stop Fallin' in Love Speed Mix. It ended up as a 469 combo or something, but I had 60-odd greats, so no AA for me. Still - wooo!

God I hate my stupid knock off Red Octane pads. I got 15 greats on Love(heart)Shine but I got 2 Misses and 1 Boo. Its like sometimes they just decide not to regester. I also got AA's on Nothing Gonna Stop , and So Fab so Fierce.

Eh, arcade pads and metal pads do that sometimes too. At least you (apparently) have access to Japanese PS2 games...

My accomplishments at GameWorks today:

New 9-footers passed include Xenon and Be Lovin' (first time for both). I also finally passed Burning Heat on x1. I tried V Oni and Cartoon Heroes both for the first time, failed miserably on both. Still can't pass So Deep, either.

Today also was the first time I've cleared Extra Stage. Got an AA on Cowgirl, then cleared Extra Stage with Sana Morette ne Ente.

I <3 Cartoon Heroes, but there's no hope of me passing it on Maniac. It's still fun enough on Standard, though, that I play it often.

I've been trying to conquest V (for Extreme) and Wonda (Speed K Mix) but I'm so out of practice that I repeatedly failed each one miserably.

I'm still all proud about being able to pass "A."

May the Schwarz be with you.

Yea, MAX2 jp rocks, I just got my PS2 modded so its all good...Its been too long since I've played in an arcade, but ill try to go to Golfland sometime this weekend. I'm going to go on the AAA hunt and hopefully get some light ones. I also started playing on flat, I passed a bunch of songs and I got Burning Heat on 1.5, flat. So thats an accomplishment.

Don't really post much around here, but I just had an awesome night of DDR so I thought I'd share. :) I've only been playing for about 4 months so I'm not up there with the best, but I'm working on it.

First up, A'ed Heaven is a '57 Metallic Gray, Holic, Jane Jana, My Sweet Darlin', Can't Stop Fallin' in Love and Senorita, all on Heavy.

Second, FINALLY passed Paranoia Evolution Heavy with a C.

And lastly, and most importantly, passed my first 9 steps! Tsugaru and Be Lovin', both Heavy. I got a D on both of them, but I was still excited! I also tried So Deep and got through the first 3/4 or so and then failed.

So, there you have it. :)

Wow, you went from Tsugaru and Be Lovin' to So Deep? Tsugaru was the first cata I passed (or one of the very first), and Be Lovin' should be an 8-footer.... but So Deep is probably the hardest or second-hardest 9-footer. It's one of the two 9-footers I've played that I haven't passed yet (the other is Cartoon Heroes).

Still didn't pass it though, =/. I really surprised myself with how far I got, I'd seen people play it before and it looked amazingly hard. I could possibly start practicing with speed mods to see if that helps.

Either way, I'm still really excited to start playing 9 footers. There's songs I've always wanted to play but was too intimidated. Any easy 9's you'd recommend? I noticed Be Lovin' was pretty easy, but there was those measures of 8th's near the end that pretty much killed me.
