Progress Reports and Accomplishments

CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP <----- sincere applause for Kel.

Anyone who's seen someone playing Paranoia Survivor heavy would be doing the same. It's absolutely insane.

btw, I love the sound of the rhythm during the second slow part....

Ba-da-da-da!
Ba-da, ba-da!
BAM!

Well, if you've heard it, you know what I'm talking about. ;)

Incidentally, last night I got farther than I've ever gotten on a 10-footer before when I got to the triplets before the first freeze on Max 300 (stupid place to die). Of course I'm not counting Bag x3.

I wish my local Extreme was unlocked. I hear Sakura's not too hard.

I LOVE the slowdowns on Para Survivor! =D Those are probably my favorite parts, because when it speeds up again everyone who watches are like "what the hell?!" XD classic.

And yeah Sakura's not too hard, but i still have a lil problem with it. meh, no biggie, i'll get it. Keep trying, Den. You'll get 300 soon ^^

Rolla coasta lova, and a DDR maniac

I played Sakura tonight. Once. Failed it. But only because I didn't know when the tempo changes were. Up until then, it seemed very easy for a 10-footer... easier than other faster songs like, say, Mikeneko Rock or Across the Nightmare.

btw, I take back the things I said in another thread about GameWorks. Tonight, they had the DDR Extreme *CRANKED.* Even with the house music blasting, it was very loud. Kudos. Of course it still costs $1.75 for three songs but whatever.

I hope to go again Monday and try out DDR (the song), Xenon, LoM, etc. I could have tried them out today, but I had a crowd and not much time, so I played songs I knew and that I thought would impress. ;)

UPDATE: Now it's Monday, just got back from GW. Add three to my 9-foot list: Saints Go Marching (finally!), Twilight Zone and Stoic (x1). Stoic is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs. Its stop rivals HV:AM's stop as the best.

Also passed Sakura (10 feet) several times. Compared to some of the other 10 footers, this should be 9 feet. Still, it's a *great* song. I figured out that when the song slows down, your feet move at the same tempo. How fast is that at the end? Feels way faster than anything I've played before.

Oh, GW climbs the integrity list by offering a card that gives you unlimited play for a *month* for $35. Not bad considering an hour of free play usually is $20.

This thread should be retitled "Den's personal accomplishments." ;)

LOL wow! I wish my GW would do that! $35 for a MONTH?! That's crazy!

Ok, i haven't played DDR over the weekend except the stupid lil USA mix at Magic Mountain, so i missed my songs, but i can't still seem to consisantly pass Sakura. I can almost FC it until this one point in the song after the 14bpm note, where it picks up a lil bit. There are a few gallops then jumps, then a few more gallops, then more jumps, THEEEN here's where i get problems, it's like a step, then a triple, then a gallop or two, and i just can't seem to read that. on 1x >__<

I was thinking of putting it on1.5x, but i'd have to survive the first part long enough to get to the slowdown and i dunno if i can read and react in time >_< Den, ya think you can help a brotha out? ^^;;

Don't know what to tell you, except to agree with you that the triplets there are quite hard to read. Study the step chart at http://chartzar.sherlok.net.

After the slow section it gets really cool. The arrows slow down for just a second and then suddenly get *really* fast... probably something like 360bpm. It's not bad until the very end when it throws some jumps and then a huge eighth-note run at you... but fortunately as soon as the run starts, the tempo gradually slows down again.

O___o THANK YOU!! *bookmarks the stepchart site* I've been a bit discouraged because i didn't have stepchatrt site to help me out, sincce DDRFreak doesn't upgrae their's and the one linked from DDRFreak closed down.

GWABA!! This is great! *will beat Sakura for sure from now on and Heave is a 57'* w000t!

No problemo. I read that site like a novel when I'm bored at work.... singing the songs in my head and following along. It really helps you prepare.

You will see from the chart that "57 grey" is freaking loaded with triplet steps... guess that's why people have trouble with it. And that cursed Burning Heat....

Not only would this help me get better, but since i download the songs i wanna pass, i can play the song and follow the chart on my 'imaginary pad' in front of my computer ^^;;

Kel, did the charts help you over the weekend?

My weekend accomplishment is that I FINALLY passed Gradiusic Cyber, with a C. So now I've passed every heavy song at home except Max 300. Whew.

I can't wait for the new game. I'm getting really bored of DDR MAX and I'd really like some new Onis as well. The ones I've got are either lame or have one killer song that I can't pass. Whose idea was it to put R&P in two of the Onis?!?

Yeah, it did, Den! Thanx I passed Heaven is...and Sakura, so now i'm happy =D. Now i'm aiming for Paranoia Eternal (the new one)

OK, I had GameWorks all to myself this morning, so I got to play some songs I had never tried. You can add the following to my cata-passed list:

Witch Doctor (first try ever, w00t!!1), Frozen Ray, Dance Dance Revolution, Captain Jack Happy Grandale Mix, Across the Nightmare Oni, Drop Out Oni, Irresistiblement.

I tried Paranoia Survivor on Heavy and didn't even make it to the second slowdown. I also tried my two nemeses again, Breakdown and Burning Heat, and got farther than ever, but still can't pass 'em. Also also, I tried So Deep for the first time (I think) and got a lot farther than I thought I would get.

Lessee... oh, I got Try Extra Stage for the first time by AAing Let's Groove with 29 greats. I failed .59 on the extra stage 'cause I can't do reverse.

I discovered a new cool song: Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Yeah I know, sounds gh3y. But except for the beginning, it doesn't sound like that song at all. And speaking of the beginning, it's awesome! Right out of the gate there's a 16th-note run before slowing down to like 20 bpm for several measures.

Lata.

I tried Insertion the other day, and to tell you the truth, i like that song, it has a REAL fun step pattern (except for the off beat arrows). Oh and i can beat Stoic now =D

Not trying to sell anything. but for those who like DDR, frequency and its sequal amplitude for the ps2 are also very good music games.
I love Insertion. It's got that "Twilight Zone" step pattern that's used in many other songs.... such as Twilight Zone (obviously), So Deep, beginning of Dam Dariam, etc.

Nice work on Stoic! Did you do it x1? If so, kudos.

After being broke due to grad-party-itis for the past few weeks, I dropped a few bucks on DDR a few days ago. To feed my 'addiction' for the time I was broke, I played using the emulators out there on the 'net. I played The legend of Max and did pretty good at it; albeit on the keyboard.

Finally a few days ago when I played, I tried LoM Standard and... well... failed it when it came to the jumps near the end. However some practice and I passed it later on with a C.

:)

I FINALLY passed Maxx Unlimited Standard, I think I can do every 8 footer now. I tried Legend of Max Standard right after that for my first time (a 9) and passed it on my first try. Go figure.

MaxX Unlimited is consisted of jumps at 300+ BPM, mad props to you :)

LoM in comparison doesn't have a series of jumps until the ending section, still congrats on completing it on your first try :)

I've begun to continually suck at passing songs on DDREx now. Moreso now that it's not even funny, but really sad. ;_;

The hardest song that I can do as of late on Ex would be Bag at 5x the speed. I know, I suck. >.< If only I could be as great a player as you all are.

Question to any of you. Is it possible to change the mode settings on the machine? My boss is b!tching at me to find someone who knows how to change them - number of songs alloted, unlocking the codes and such. If any of you know how to do so, please email me.

Speaking of which. Kel, if you're around the WC mall anytime soon, I need to talk to you, or if on AIM or whatnot. About this, of course. Thanks all. ^_^
