Powder Keg Announced

Nuh uh. Dashboard Confessional's A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar is the only place I've seen Hands Down as #1. It's #4 on the So Impossible EP and usually the last song they sing at their concerts. Maybe you count backwards.

AFAIK, you can ride the Ku Ku Coaster hands up as well, so that doesn't work either.

Nope, Mini Mizzou doesn't travel with the team unless we go to NCAA tourney or NIT. We will be going to the Guardian's Classic Tourney finals next week in KC.

Cal, we'll see after this weekend. With two teams as bad as they are, it is hard to tell who will win the Border War. Basketball, remember who beat you last year. :)

-D

Back on topic, my rumor about the lift launch was confirmed by Jeff Mast on WOF.org while he was at IAAPA. No chain, a second launch happens!

-Cal

its in the woods.........
Well not technically... he said this:

"I sneeked a look at the S&S booth during a break from ours. You will luanch up the Buzz drop then drop down new section. It does not show the lift part."

to which you said

"YEAH! I WAS RIGHT! YEAYEAYEYAY! Yep, I told you that would be awesome!"

and he retorted

"Cal I never said two. I did not stay and study it but the luanch goes up the drop and they do not show the lift as part of the ride. If I get a chance I will look again but remember I am working also."

That's cool about the second launch - I think a chain lift would have been a big unnecessary pause in what looks to be a fun ride.

Oh, and Oklahoma State is going to rule the Big 12 Basketball once again this year. Go Pokes!

LMAO....enjoy it NOW, Scott.....once Sean Sutton takes over the program, I doubt OSU will remain a force in the Big-12. The last time I remember a son taking over a bigtime hoops program from his retiring father, DePaul went downhill FAST...

Oh, and Powder Keg looks like fun! :)

Mamoosh's avatar
Um, Gator...that's not Scott [or, at least not the Scott I know]. *That* Scott is "Zingo!"
Blah, Blah, Blah. OSU suxxx!!!1111!! ;)

Come on, I mean how MIZZOU keep from winning BIG XII? I mean we got a brand new arena. Doesn't that equal at Big XII Championship? Speaking of which, if OSU does play at Mizzou this year you really need to come check this thing out. It puts some NBA areans to shame.

Oh now THAT is horrible....stealing someone else's SN....;)

Keeping with the THEME of the thread: "I'll blast you for confusing me, Zingo sans exclamation po!nt"....:)

It has nothing on Rupp Arena, and Oz-cat, that will change on January 9th when Kansas loses. Eddie Sutton sucks. He is a cheater and he left UK in shambles when he left. Well, as much as the all-time winningest program can be left in shambles.

Swoosh do you play at the braggin' rights game at the Keil. . .errr Savis Center? I have been to that like 4 years in a row. Unfortunately your cheating Tigers never seem to show up. Here is to a final 4 with Illinois and Kentucky.

POWDER KEG!!

Tom - who is more into college basketball than roller coasters.

Rupp Arena is big, but I like being able to see the court without binoculars. ;) For people have not seen Paige Sports Arena yet, here is a web cam http://ath.missouri.edu/arena/ Yes Mini Mizzou plays at the IU/MU game at the Kiel Center. It will always be the Kiel Center. At least it is getting some use with basketball being played there. Stupid Hockey Lockout!

Back to topic. They have started working on the large "helix hilly thingie" now. Also it was officially announced at IAAPA that S&S is build it. (D'oh!) :)

Just don't make the mistake of seeing a concert in Rupp Arena. The acoustics really, really suck. It's fine for basketball though...

ObOnTopic: Did Alan Shilke design this one for S&S Arrow?

rollergator's avatar
The Stay-Puf Marshmallow Dome (O'Connell Center) has terrible acoustics too...matches our hoops teams' March performances of late, LOL...

But, our new CPA (Center for Performing Arts) has acoustics that even Ravi Shankar was *raving* about...Got to see STOMP there, fantastic show...:)

....imagining Schilke designed PK, who *else* at S&S Arrow would have...I think McNulty was doing some *consulting* for them, but I think he's primarily a wood coaster guy...anyone know anything more *concrete*? ;)

It may take a short while to get the championship, even with the new arena. It took OSU two years (arena opened November 2002) and then in March of 2004 we were dancing in San Antonio. Hopefully we will be dancing again in St. Louis in March.

Yeah, Like Eddie Sutton Cheats - he hasn't been caught at OSU yet and he has been there 15 years now. How long did it take for a certain coach (cough, Quinn, cough) to get caught at MIZZOU? Makes you wonder where he learned that stuff ---- Duke?

And the Zingo and Zingo! stuff - we're cool about it. I joined in 10/22/02 and Scott joined in 7/10/03. I guess one way to keep us from getting confused is the "!" - he uses the "!" because he is much younger than me and he has M:TR to keep him excited !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

So, when does Powder Keg and Silver Dollar City open for 2005 anyhow? Maybe I can hit it on the way back from St. Louis in March.

Woa! For a second I was wondering why in the heck Scott was going on about OSU. Thanks for clearing that up! ;)

Well, let's just say that Zingo touting OSU (which is IN Oklahoma) makes more sense than Zingo! touting M:TR, which is all the way over on the Left Coast...

bill, hoping UF makes it to St Louis...so I can get more Freeze! ;)

Puke, I mean Duke (hilarious joke) is one of the few schools that DOESN'T cheat. Everyone already wants to go there because their fans are awesome and they win a lot. For cheating see Mizzou and Mississippi State.

OSU just suddenly started getting rediculous recruites when Sutten signed on. It has nothing to do with him being crooked. . .

As for Rupp, it is unique because it is so big, but the seats are also VERY close to the floor. If you are me, it doesn't matter beacuse I am behind the basket in the drunk section every game. Here is to clean programs!

Wow looking for one mention of PowderKeg and it is not to be seen! ;) LoL

THE SCARIEST PART OF THE RIDE IS THE LIFT HILL!

Check out the first few pages, Wildfire. The topic had pretty much exhausted itself...until a new construction update comes in.

I do have an update from Central FL (not IAAPA, LOL) re: Powder Keg theming....it seems that the back spike will be lit up by a single row of tracers INSIDE the trackwork...which will henceforth be referred to as "PKeg's Fuse". There will also be an audio "BOOM!" kinda like the one on Dudley's at IoA when the train is launched.

Apparently THEMING coasters is becoming quite a big business these days...:)
