matt asked: Did the signs show up before or after the reptilian eyeball in the box?

A few weeks before.

I just thought I'd throw this in, yesterday I noticed some track laying right next to Firehawk, and it seemed to be a very similar, if not identical shade of rusty red.
Maybe that's been discussed before...I don't know. There are worse things that could be wrong with it though, I'm very excited for it. :) *** Edited 8/7/2008 3:18:23 PM UTC by TayTay***

Your "throw-in" is a bit late...there have been pics of the track on-site and at the nearby factory for weeks.

I found an answer, sort of!

Don Helbig said in a video interview from KIExtreme.com that the "Ride Sally Ride" sign was supposed to "paint a picture of a western theme" and that "there were really no other names under consideration".

Is he full of it or is it a sincerely honest answer?

I'm aware that everyone has seen pictures of the track, but my point was that it's exactly the same as Firehawk, which is something I personally didn't notice until I saw them right next to one another. And like I said, if people already brought that up...good for them. I must've missed that.

Edit: Wow, I really don't think what I said was that ridiculous. I thought it was an odd choice of color, considering the similarity. I'm sorry that that was enough to get people cracking jokes about me. *** Edited 8/9/2008 7:38:22 AM UTC by TayTay***

The track looks similar because B&M and Verkoma do use a similar style U-shaped cross section. It is possible you may have though the extra track was to replace a bad section on 'Hawk.

Sure they do Matthew, they are both rust red, which automatically makes them the same... *rolling eyes*

I like that the support color for the lift and part of the first drop is different than the rest of the ride, and I'm trying to think of any other coaster that features different colors like that. The only one that comes to mind is Top Thrill Dragster, where the short supports for the launch and the final run are white (or beige?) while the tower structure is yellow.

Maybe CF has a bunch of left over paint that's about to expire! "Here, B&M Fabricating Plant, we'd like you to use this up if you can. No, no... half and half is fine... whatever." :)

I'm pretty sure TayTay was just commenting on the similar color scheme between Diamondback and Firehawk, which I'm pretty sure had not been mentioned to this point.

I have a theory. Some fast food chains use red and yellow as a color scheme supposedly because the color scheme subconsciously makes people think of food. Maybe CF uses hot dog colors to sell more food.

Just an idea that I could or could not take too seriously.

Knott's Silver Bullet has a different support and track color scheme on the lift & station than elswhere on the ride. See here.

Silver Bullet has to have to ugliest paint scheme I have ever seen. Who in the world would design a coaster and then pick those colors, let alone pick those colors and think they look good.

Yeah, I don't really get the multiple color scheme thing. Dominator's loop is another one.

Well, I'll be. I was at Knott's, rode it a couple of times and didn't even notice it had different colors! Maybe I was so dismayed at the actual placement of the ride and it's surroundings that it didn't leave an impression. Or maybe my half-timers disease was kicking in.

I was at KD way early in the season this year, and they were still constructing/painting Dominator so I wasn't aware.

Maybe it's a new CF signature!

Thanks, friends!
