The wiggle is extra, and not included in your GA ticket.

Also, can I get an order of Rocky Mountain Gonchticles.

Waldameeer's cheapest all day ticket is $40. Kennywood's cheapest ticket is... $39.99.
True, but I think the reason some people may still find Waldameer less expensive is that they still have free general admission. If there's someone in a family who doesn't really do rides, or if the parents aren't into rides and are just there to bring kids, that can still make Waldameer cheaper than Kennywood. Or if someone is mostly a non-rider but might want to do one or two, then they can just pay for those two rides a la carte. It's a rather specific situation that won't apply in the majority of cases but I imagine it does come up. It's pretty common to see people on Kennywood's social media complaining about them not having a non-rider admission.
Kennywood was always a “picnic park” with an inexpensive general admission ticket available. That allowed families, riders and non riders alike, to enjoy a day at the park for a couple of bucks. If she wanted to, Grandma could sit in the picnic grove all day and supervise the comings and goings. They may still have it, but there was a separate gate on the park side, back behind the Old Mill, where you could pull up, unload the car, and check in your picnic gear avoiding a cumbersome trip through the park.
I don’t know how many years ago Kennywood tightened up their admission policy making everyone POP, it’s been a good while now, but Carousel Rabbit is right- the good people of Pittsburgh are still bitter about it.
It wasn't long ago that Kennywood offered a spectator's ticket, if I'm not mistaken. Isn't that a thing anymore?

Yeah, that’s what I was taking about. Kennywood has never been a free admission park (aside from certain promotions, military days, etc) but they had a general admission price that was really cheap. I’m sure there were a variety of circumstances that prompted the change, but they finally joined the ranks and now everyone is POP like it or not.
Not everyone can be Knoebels. Or Waldameer.
Apparently, and someone correct me if it's different, the general admission disappeared during the Palace Entertainment era. They made a crucial mistake by trying to run the park like a California one. The most often complaint about them was the elimination of the general admission, followed by the removal of iconic attractions. The s@#storm of the removal of the Kangaroo (aka Flying Coaster), Paratrooper and Bayern Kurve, (not to mention the Log Jammer) ultimately forced them to have the Kangaroo refurbished to meet current requirements. They other two rides they had already sold.
I think it was done primarily in the interest of safety and security. I mean, if you make it dirt cheap for people to enter and just hang out then that’s what they’re going to do. The park location is urban, not out in the country somewhere, which makes it easy for troublemakers. The obvious solution was to 86 the GA. And the sad consequence is that people who really needed and appreciated a general admission ticket are left out unless they pay for something they’re not going to use. I bet a lot of grandmas are staying home.
Anyway, I’ll be interested to see the local reaction when Herschend pricing sets in, if it hasn’t already. Those folks ain’t giving nothing away- my senior discount ticket for Dollywood was 85 bucks, and that was a few years ago.
I bet they even make Dolly herself pay, lol.
Dollywood is in a tourist trap area, though. I'm not 100% sure of their demographics, but I feel that they're more of a visitors' park than a locals park. But who knows. We'll find out next year.
Hi
“The s@#storm of the removal of the Kangaroo (aka Flying Coaster), Paratrooper and Bayern Kurve, (not to mention the Log Jammer)”
They also got rid of an enterprise that same year. That’s become a classic hard to find ride as well.
The general admission ticket is a great policy that allows family members that don’t want to ride rides to come along.
If they want rid of the riffraff, a chaperone policy is a better route IMO
They also removed my favorite flat ride, Bayern Kurve, damn them.
I only live about four hours away, but haven't been there since 2012.

Kennywood switched to POP in 2005 which was a lot more recent than I remember it being. Parques took over in 2008 which is more distant than I remember it being…
Okay, we used to go to the park when we were in town to visit my mother-in-law once a year. Might have missed the change to POP as that was the year I started to work for the Fleet Science Center, and wouldn't have accrued enough hours to take any kind of vacation yet. Prior to that they still had the general admission.
It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. It wouldn't surprise me that all of the Palace upper management people will be looking for new jobs after the first of the year.
I was at KW in 2014 I believe. They were a really cool park, but they almost felt as if they were stuck somewhere between charm and corporate chain. Seriously looking forward to what happens to them under Herschend. Absolutely love Dollywood and SDC. Christmas is a sight to behold at SDC as well.
I visit the park at least once a week. Most of the operations employees look like they are being punished no matter which attraction they assigned to. This is very apparent at the carousel. Much different than at the beginning of the season when there were crews that obviously enjoyed what they were doing. Those crews have disappeared, and each time I go there are different people.
