To each their own.
Can't wait to ride them, I guess?
I liked what I read forever ago to wait and just read posts before contributing so you (the general you, not anyone specific) don't post against guidelines or do a no-no. It was helpful, but I never even THOUGHT to call anyone names, as it is just basic etiquette anywhere (not just on forums) to not freak out on people you barely know and call them nasty things. Everyone makes mistakes (I actually tried to start beef with Jeff once--HILARIOUS now that I know he's kinda the boss), and we all get a little riled up at times, but there should always be some consideration before flying off the handle and posting nasty stuff and name calling.

Yeah, I said that "kekoa" reminded me of "koala." I really didn't mean it as an insult, but I think it was pretty misleading based on the content of the rest of the post. And we all know that if it was one, it was pretty darn bad.
I think I was able to successfully hold an audible groan while reading the last 2 pages.
I guess this begs the question: What has happened to CoasterBuzz?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Do you get that? Do you know why he's asking that question?
Yes, I'm well aware of the circle of life on the subject of how mean/nice we are at CoasterBuzz or "what has happened to CoasterBuzz". That's why I posted just a little thing and then let it go. Then I joked with R-P (or was trying to...couldn't think of a way to imply a dramatic "what a world I'm melting" no scream). That's all. :)

It also happens to be the name of one of the old school "epic threads" that sprung up one offseason. It started as one person complaining that coasterbuzz had become both really cold and full of noise and coaster discussions were routinely hijacked for shenanigans. It was promptly hijacked and resulted in 70 some odd pages of shenanigans.

That said, I don't think it's a crime to think a meme is funny or appreciate parts of it without knowing its full history. It is bordering on "me too" to attempt to use a meme without knowing it's full history.
Sadly, I have not encountered either of these problems as I have no life and read every single word ever posted.

Oh, please feel no regret for me, Carrie.
For the record, I said it was regrettable. I regret nothing, however. :-)
I blame this whole thing on Gonch. I'd like to start that meme. ;-)

Andy hit the nail on the head. I don't begrudge people for laughing and not fully understanding. I was new once too. But the thing about Buzz is we will explain something if someone doesn't get it. Like M:TR, or even the more obscure N:TOP.
Usually I groan to myself. But since it came up I figured I'd point it out. Even the whole Pancakes thing was total inside joke. It's a funny read, that one. But when people (Like a former park manager going off the deep end) come in and join in and make a 'joke' that doesn't really go with the whole backstory of the actual joke, it's just groan worthy.
I just think some newer people are posting just to post. I'm not saying people shouldn't post, but grow into the community.
And seriously, at least Captain Obvious isn't still here, he'd just bully everyone he didn't like till they stopped posting or finally stood up to him(In which case he'd go back and edit a closed thread a month later to make himself look right). So be glad some things have changed around here.
Andy, thank you for the meme...I am going to read that one ASAP. I've been here so sporadically since I joined years ago. It is difficult sometimes to catch a full meme meaning. I had a job where I had no free time to ride coasters, let alone visit the site. Now I am still searching for a new job and therefore have a whole lot of free time to "buzz" around the forums (now THAT was a bad pun). I always appreciate backstory.
I honestly can't wait to go back to doing trip reports. It's my favorite part of forums.
So...if anyone has a free moment, I REALLY wanna know about the gravy meme. *grin*
RCMAC, I'm trying SO HARD not to +1!!

I've also been known to search Google for site:coasterbuzz.com [a few words from the inside joke I don't get, in quotes if necessary]. Of course, as memes become referenced over and over it can be difficult to find the original thread, but I just look for the earliest date.
It's no fun being outside the loop... unless it's a B&M invert. ;)
Every so often I end up looking back, like I just did with the N:TOP reference. A half-hour goes by quickly reminiscing about the trips with Moosh and Bass, Chris, Robo, etc. Sure do miss those old days (not sure whether Jeff does or not, I'm sure he got a few complaints). Wow did we stir up some trouble - no double entendre was left unexplored in the CPG days. The SRM events really were the beginnings of some awesome friendships which I will treasure for as long as I'm here (on the planet, not 'Buzz).
As the birdman says - Google will take you to the source of (almost) all the inside jokes, and help to explain what truly has happened to Coasterbuzz. Of course, as with so many other areas in life, the phrase "you just had to be there" applies frequently.
I tried it out using birdhombre's suggestions for the N:TOP.
And my day now is about 100 times better for it.
