Can you say rigged??
No,really I don't agree with this list at all.
How in the world can a coaster that seems to be distracting park goers than attracting park goers be voted #1???
Sorry, but to me this publication(AT) reeks of favoritism and holds no real merit or value with me.
Please Vern enlighten us: How on earth is MF distracting park goers. Lighten up, man. Just like Jeff said, it was a bunch of opinions tallyed up to form one. You guys kill me when you take this poll soooo seriously.
A few comments and questions:

1.) I was surprised Son of Beast and Mean Streak didn't make the wood list.
2.) Does anyone know if Phantom's Revenge will have a tunnel for next year like it was originally supposed to.
3.) I'd like to see if the 200 foot coaster proposed for Six Flags Worlds of Adventure and/or the giant wooden one proposed for Waldameer are both made and make next years lists.
4.) Does anyone know of any lists for the top dark rides?
I don't really care how the rankings stack up because I think as enthusiasts these mean a lot less to us than to the GP. They really don't change my impression of a ride like they would to the general public. But my question about them is, do they distribute ballots in a geographically equal manner? It seems that this may be able to explain some of inadequacies in the rankings.
There are always going to be some of us out ther who are not in total agreence with any TOP 25 ,but this is a list most enthusaists can live with .......nice work Amusement Today
--who doesnt understand why Legendary is upset as he might be the *one* enthustiast skinnier than the hostyl one

Wrong. (The tiny, 80 pound 9th grader).

By the way, go Montu!

Parks for 2001: SFEG, Lakeside,Funtown USA, Palace Playland, HP,BGW,PKD,Alton Towers.
Bernard,I was just playing the numbers game, last year CP blamed low attendance on the weather.
This year the first half of the season they're trying to blame low attendance on not having a new attraction,so go figure.
In regards to the favouritism/geographic region thing I think AT presents the most balanced view you're going to get from the United States, straight from the editorial on the AT page:

"This year, more than 400 surveys were mailed. With our biggest response ever, 25 percent came from the Northeastern portion of the United States, both the Southern United States and
north central states provided 23 percent of the votes, and the west coast tallied in at 22
percent. The remaining 7 percent were mailed in from international correspondents."

That's about as balanced as you can get IMO. This kind of survey naturally tends to not have many international coasters make the list simply because most people living over here haven't been to Britain, Germany, Spain, etc.

I was also glad to see Magnum finally fall and I think SROS @ SFNE has a good chance of dethroning MF if a few more people get on it this year because of it's high ranking....MF winning this time around was almost a given because almost every enthusiast made the trip out to CP last year to ride the Force, we'll see if it's ranking starts to settle after the initial shock/hype is through with. I'd almost gurantee you that of the people who've been on both MF & SROS @ SFNE a majority voted for SROS but Millie simply has had more riders who took the survey. Similarly I think the Legend will continue to climb given some time though the #5 ranking is certainly respectable.

SRM 2001: No Lights! No Brakes! No Bell?!
How the heck did Mean Streak Get on the list when i rode it last month and they put brakes on the drop so it really should not be on the list!

GO TO www.TEAMWOO.com
Sorry i miss worded that i mean.....
Hey zar why would Mean Streak be on the list??
And i agree SOB should be somewhere on the list

GO TO: www.TEAMWOO.com
the list is a bad thing, u can't rank coasters and if u do u should give every coaster a chance, not just the ones more ppl have rode.
That is total ish cause NITRO IS WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! better than all those rides!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet all of u are wonder if i have even been on these ride but i have and of all of them nitro was the best
Couple comments.. I really can't imagine 20 coasters in this country being better than Titan. If there are that many that are better, then I expect them to give me one hell of a raging orgasm, only way they could be much better. And I rode the Texas Giant yesterday and it was amazing. It sometimes is very rough, but yesterday it wasn't. You just never know.

And it would be shocking if Steel Dragon WAS on the list. The list is made of a lot of voters, and I doubt many have been on that coaster, so how could it make the list?

Shady12: that's why this is a POLL, asking for people's OPINIONS, and then takes the AVERAGE of those answers. If only the two of us took the poll and you ranked Titan as #1 and I ranked it at #20 than it would end up with a ranking at #10.

But you know what? It doesn't matter! Titan is your favorite steel coaster. What poll or award can take that away from you??

Please everyone...relax. All the Golden Ticket awards do is give parks bragging rights. I does not invalidate your own opinions.
I just dont understand how MF beat out S:ROS at SFNE. After MF's first drop there's just no excitement. S:ROS holds your interest from beginning to end and the air time on S:ROS is immense---you can't even compare the two. When more people get to SFNE you will see Superman where he belongs......at #1.
Well, I am happy that my home park, SFoG, made the list in each category. Mindbender (oldest steel in the list) is the best in the park IMHO. Sometimes, the oldies ARE the goodies :)
Yeah, Mindbender has done really well, considering all these new rides. Mindbender is 23 years old and, the next oldest is Magnum which is only 12 years, less than half the time of Mindbender's existence.
How can anyone think that MF just has a good first drop and doesn't deliver the rest of the ride?

Not only does it maintain incredible speed throughout the whole ride, but it also delivers over 4-5 seconds of floater air on just one hill. Its turns close to the ground are awesome and it's overbanks are one of a kind.
"Nitro the best" better then SROS @ SFNE your crazy............................... two days ago I went to SFGA & rode the Nitro. the coast is wonderful ( a top ten coaster yes), but I have to tell you SROS in SFNE is twice as better. trust me................... The Bomb...........

If you live in Williamsburg, VA. & went on the Apollo Chariot Then Nitro Is the same coaster Just a little Taller & Longer. I mean the same coaster. Besides people in New England, has anyone else went on the SROS in SFNE, if so you have to believe this coaster is #1 & not #2. Trust me........................
