I am surprised to see Mindbender on the list. I have only ridden this ride a couple of times and that was many years ago, but I remember it being a great ride. I also believe it is the oldest coaster on the steel list.
I guess Magnum couldn't stay #1 forever. Although I think Magnum is more fun then MF (I haven't ridden any of the S:ROS coasters).

i think the lists stink. first of all you cancombine dueling dragons. no way. those 2 hold my #1 and 2 coasters. combining them would just make it unbeatable. and magnum #3 no way!. i rode it like 5 times terrible compared to superman SFDL. and i think hulk and kumba are terrible. except for the sweet launch on hulk. montu also should not be as high as it is. its a good ride but not the best invert by far. especially compared to TWO inverts combined in dueling dragons!!!!!!!!!
anyways this is just my opinion in the list.

oh and both gwazis smoked villan. so did big dipper.

-------------
1.Fire Dragon, 2.Ice Dragon, 3.Raptor, 4.Kraken, 5.Batman Knight Flight
Go Raven!

I'd like to see how Phantom's Revenge would have ranked if they actually made the tunnel!
How is Steel Force #4 ? That's a bunch of B.S. *** This post was edited by mamba on 7/31/2001. ***
If this starts bringing more people to SFNE I think that there will be a new #1 next year and it launches to the tunes of John Williams. In other words get to SFNE and see what SROS is all about!
Finally! A top 5 list that reflects what *most* of us think.

Nitro # 16. What the heck were they smoking

I agree DWeaver. I am especially happy w/ the woodie list. I'm laughing at all the people who are getting all worked up because *THEIR* #1 didn't rank as #1 on the poll. Some people just take this hobby WAY too seriously.

Anway it will be interesting to see the results of Mitch's Wooden Coaster poll later this year. My top 5 are currently Legend, Ghostrider, Raven, Bouderdash, and Coney Cyclone and I don't expect that to change when I complete Mitch's poll. While I haven't ridden Shivering Timbers yet I don't expect it to be in my Top 5 knowing my preferences.

And Congrats to Holiday World for taking "cleanest" and "friendliest" for the second year in a row.

why is S:UE on there when it is no better then V2 at SFGAm or SFMW? They should've listed them all.

Zach
I gotta agree with Antuan...except that I can't tell if he's approving or disapproving. I for one think that Nitro beats the pants off of at least IOA's two top 15 choices, and when I go to ride Steel Force in the next few weeks, I'll be sure to chime in with how I feel about that one.

I might also be riding S:ROS at SFA this weekend, but that's a big maybe. What's the big difference between the three clones? How could the SFNE version be #2, the SFDL version be #6, but the SFA version is all the way at #20? Is location/theming really that huge of a factor? Or is there some other major difference?

I still think Nitro should've at least been top 10. Everyone I've spoken to who's ridden both will say that Nitro kicks Apollo's Chariot's ass, but that's just what I've heard. And by the way, I hate to break it to whoever put Dueling Dragons at #12, but the rides are good when dueling, but placed separately, they're merely two mediocre coasters...sorry to disappoint, but my last DD ride was without a duel and I was terribly unimpressed.

With all this arguing, kinda makes me wonder why they bother making such lists anyway...

NITRO kicks it into high gear...only at Six Flags Great Adventure!

My other car is a rollercoaster...
Yeah I kinda do have to agree...Davie the Luv Monkey, give the poll a year or 2 and I'm sure Nitro will be in the top 10, if not the top 5. I feel Phantom's Revenge is better than what it was ranked - 15th...it's better than Magnum XL-200 and Steel Force, so it should be a top 5 coaster at least. Next year when more people ride PR and Nitro, they will definately be ranked higher than they were this year.

KPGuy
LOL! You guys crack me up. Where did we get this notion that if a coaster isn't #1 or #2, that means it's a bad coaster. Do you guys realize how many coasters there are in the US alone? To even place in the top 25 is an honor.

More proof that it's a good thing that enthusiasts don't run the industry. We couldn't agree on a pair of socks.

I can't believe that Raging Bull outranked NITRO...
Also in the print edition, the top 50 coasters for both steel and wood are listed.

So two more of Kennywood's coasters are listed in the top 50: Jack Rabbit placed 36th and Racer 42nd.

I have a feeling Phantom's Revenge will move up for next year's list :).

I'll echo someone above...how the HELL did Texas Giant make it into top 10, let alone top 25? My goodness, I guess people are holding on to the past, because that coaster is way more suitable for "taer it down" status than even Mean Streak. Yuck.

Although, MF DID get #1 spot, so that rocks and all. :) I've done 23/25 for steelies and 17/25 for woodies. Guess I gotta hit Knoebel's to see what the fuss is all about.

JC, who is also glad to see Legend at HW moving up two spots!

"No listenin', you hear me?"
Nice results. I am mad my baby, ST didn't make it to the top spot, but it is still up there! Alpengeist gets the shaft job yet again, and Apollo's moves up higher than I expected! Not too much different though.

"why is S:UE on there when it is no better then V2 at SFGAm or SFMW? They should've listed them all."
Probably because V2 is not a year old, and S:UE is a year old. More people have ridden it.

Same thing goes for the person that is surprised Nitro rated below Raging Bull. Same thing goes for Goliath and Titan. Same thing for S:ROS and S:ROS

It was just a matter of time until enough people at Amusment Today rode Millenium Force so it would get enough votes to be number one.

Some of you are acting like children becuase your coaster isn't on the list. So what? There is no real official top 10 coasters in the world list, it's all opinion! Even Amusment Today's Golden Ticket Awards! Get over it if your all worked up! I don't see Cyclops on there, or Whizzer, and I'm not mad.

Intamin: Steel gifts from the gods.
CCI: Wooden gifts from the gods.
All I have to say is it is about time Magnum got knocked out of the #1 spot. However, Timberwolf made it into the Top 25 wooden coasters? That is one of the worst wooden coasters I have ever ridden. Kudos to Holiday World and the Koch family as Raven holds onto the #1 spot and being the only park in the world with 2 top 10 wooden coasters. Hooray, BGW my home park gets 2 top ten steel coasters. I just feel sooooo sorry for all those Magnum lovers who are crying now. Boo Hoo. *** This post was edited by Barry Short on 7/31/2001. ***

Here's something you all need to realize... This poll is the combination of a lot of opinions, not your own private preferences. Chances are that your opinion is averaged in there by someone who thinks like you. The results are a combination of those opinions. It doesn't mean your own are suddenly invalid.

Go have a Dip-n-Dots or something and relax a little.
