Michigan's Adventure Future Plans

Brent,

You are correct. At one point the "shed" area was used as a blocking area. However, with the addition of the magnetic brakes, it no longer is used as a block.

That's what I thought. Thanks Sean.

Ok guys, long time of me just reading...

Closing weekend!!!!! Waaahhhhhh, no more Timbers. Hope to see you all there, don't forget to say hi! (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

101 laps isn't bad... can I multiply it by 10 in one year? No. Two years? Maybe. Three years? Yep. I hope to hit 125 Sunday. Dependant upon weather. Whichever day is best, Saturday or Sunday, I'll be there. I'm bringing my video camera too, just to make you all happy.

Can't wait to see you all again!

I'd love to be there but I'm in Florida and I have not gotten to ride timbers this year.......Only thing on a good note is that my new apartment is right off the gulf on St. Pete Beach. Have fun riding timbers everyone!

Hope you got at least a few laps in today. The weather SUCKED. I didn't make it to the park, but was camping nearby and it was WET.

OK, What's the deal with MA season pass price. I checked out the site and 03 pass prices are still on the site. With this being the last weekend you'd think that MA would offer 04 passes or have them on sale before the park closed for the season. My next gripe is the price. I feel that the price for a MA pass should be less than $90 dollars especially when admission is in the $20 dollar range. The pass is way overpriced. It should be in the $50 to $60 range max. If a pass holder wants to use at Cedar Point or any of CF's other park than MA should offer an upgraded pass that would alow access to all CF's parks. The park would sell more passes that way. As it stands now in order for the pass to be worth your time you'd have to go to MA almost 5 times before you'd save on admoission prices. Where as if you buy a discounted 04 CP pass you'd basicly pay for the pass by your third visit to the park (CP). Knott's offers passes at a reduced price if you live within a certain mile radius of the park.
I don't know when you checked the MiAdv site, but the site has been promoting 2004 season passes for a couple of weeks now for $80. The price will probably go up after the first of the year.

MrScott

I was just going to say that.

BTW, 11 laps. Maybe you should have checked out my TR though... I went Saturday ;)

Question: Any off season activity going on at the park?
Not one thing. I would be suprised if there was though. I expect that a week before opening, they will put in a new bench and tree or something nice like that.
I guess it all depends upon if the city hooks up, a city water line to the park.

Does the World need another vanilla cola?

I read a rumor on Coasternet which I have to say that most of them have come true. That MA was going to add a coaster. Take it for what you will.

WHAT no coaster to be built in Ohio in 04? Why are we being punished! What next? No more Rollercoaster Tycoon expansion packs.

1. About the laser show for next year, we need LIGHTS before we can stay open late enough for a laser show. Besides, I still highly doubt this when CF was considering removing all of them.

The 2004 operating schedule shows some 10:00pm closings. Doesn't this mean that they will have lights?

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Good catch. Sunset on July 31st would be 8:09pm, so they'll have to have at least some parts of the park lit. I think they have some conduit and lights run already, but I don't know how extensive it is.

This definitely adds weight to the earlier laser show rumor... Saturday night shows?

I also wonder if this shows an indication of a campground or hotel in their near future to support late closings...

Instead of spending their money on new rides, Cedar Fair decided to spend it all on keeping the park open longer (from mid May until mid Sept.). That is a huge waste of money because the park will not even make wages during those slow freezing MI months. I am all for keeping the park open later during July and August when the park is making good money and having good attendance. But why would you open the park earlier when they currently have such crappy attendance until late June and then it dies again it late August.

Let me tell you that the Jourden family put their heart and sole into tweaking the park into a very sucessful money maker. They never would have opened earlier. They had the schedule set up the way it was because they spent their life in this community and they know what will and won't work. Why should they pay so much for employees when there are only twenty guests in the park?

Cedar Fair better step up soon before more and more people realize they are running MA into stagnancy.

By the way, the sewer and water are at least another five years away. If Cedar Fair is waiting until they have that to do anything, it is going to be a very boring five plus years.

Let me tell you that CF spent a lot of time, money and careful planning growing into a chain that is powerful, profitable and the only one that can handle building $25 million additions these days. They didn't need your coaching achieving that and they don't need it now.

Could it be that the crappy attendance was due to weather? Perhaps a true historical attendance analysis is more insightful than yours of a single season.

And if they step up with Camp Snoopy and a ProSlide Tornado, then what? You'll still be wailing and bellyaching while people push by you for the turnstiles.

CF is NOT going to tiddly-wink up a coaster so people can visit the 'same-old park' with one more ride. They're going to develop a full-day, full-family experience so people who hear about one more coaster will be amazed how much things have changed. They're chess players who have done this before.

I could just bark, "siddown, shaddap and wait" but I'll tell you why you should.

MrScott (Edit) (Quote) 9/25/2003 7:53:11 PM Hey, Folks, CP is not my home park. It is 6 hours away. MiAdv is an hour away from here. From what I understand, MiAdv won't be adding any new rides and neither will CP.

I have been to MiAdv more than 5 times this year and spent two 3 or 4 day stints at CP.

Where is the resaon to go in 2004? I just don't see it. I've ridden them all multiple times and (for me) it's time for something new.

An annoucement from MiaAdv *may* have changed my purchace desision, but right now, I'm taking 2004 off as far as season passes.

MrScott

It's a shame too. Correct me if I'm wrong. Wasn't it all about attendance and if MA had an increase in attendance this past season weren't they going to get an 04 improvement? They met their numbers right?

I think the quote was something more like "if the numbers are high enough to justify...".

Although I really, really would like to see a new coaster, I've been happy with the infrastructure improvements they've been adding and I feel that they know what they're doing with the park. Guess I just need to exercise my patience :)
