KK BIG breakdown?!?!?

Hmm...SFA. When??

Knoebels- 4/28

The one at SFA had a brake failure late in the season 2003 (maybe 2004). I remember hearing that people who were there reported seeing two trains on the lift hill, as the brakes failed to stop the incoming train in the station.

I also think I've heard that SFNE has had a "bump" or two in the station. I'm not sure when sich a thing happened, though.

I want to live where it's all the same. I want to live where it's all just like today. I want to live where it's always Saturday.

In August of 2001, SFNE's final brake run had a partial failure such that the trains collided in the station. Multiple (20's, I think) minor injuries, no serious injuries. At least one of the trains was pretty much destroyed. The ride didn't get it's second train back in operation until July of 2002, almost a full year later. Way to go Six Flags. :P

Rideman had a site with more details about the failure.

TTD is as safe now as it was a month ago, the same as it was a year ago, and the same it will be a year from now.

Exactly...It's especially safe when riders are blessed with the awesome feeling of extremely hot metal shards carving threw their faces.

TTD was running fine 4 days before i got there and then the first day i am there it wasnt working, they were waiting for a part for it to arrive. The second day it was up and down but when i finally got on it after traveling from KY to get there it was a blast. i wish we had something like it here.

For those people who like to diss SFI they arent the only ones that can't maintain ride operations. Seems like CF even has a problem at certain times. When you don't live near a CF park and all you have is a SFI park like in KY then you deal with what you can get.

Yeah, a friend of mine on a senior trip to Mass. was actually in line for Supes when the accident happened. Wasn't it something about the magnetic brakes didn't engage, or something? I'm probably wrong, but that seems like what I remember.

There was a pic floating around of what happened at SFA I believe. Darn memory isn't what it used to be.

Kyle Fobe you are a joke. What park, or insurance company, would run a coaster if it were not safe. Give me a break, TTD is up..safe...and working get over it.

Great Adventure ran there coaster when it obviously wasn't safe. Superman's brakes failed and injured a bunch of people. Hell, even Disney has ran their coasters after they have collided with eachother 3 times.

Don't tell me I'm a joke for asking a somewhat reasonable question, when you can't even give a somewhat reasonable answer to it.

Just remember, there's about 1 in 10,000 chance you will die every time you drive a car. That makes TTD look like the safest place on earth.

That's the ONLY reasonable answer you need Kyle.

BREAKING NEWS! Kingda Ka has reopened according to their website. You may have to refresh the site a few times but a now open message comes up.

NOW OPEN! Come now to challenge and conquer the tallest, fastest roller coaster on Earth! This world record-breaking thrill ride is the keystone of the new mythical Golden Kingdom, which also features Balin's Jungleland, an elaborate children's play area and the magnificent Temple of the Tiger exhibit.

This is on the offical Six Flags website, at http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/index.asp. Go, check it out!

Although, this frightenes me just a bit. They predicited that Kingda Ka would be down for weeks. And, 11 days later, it's open? Hm...

Pretty large Edit: Hey, I think I lied. The guy below me mentions that if you refresh, you get the letter again. Trying this myself, I do notice that it switches between the letter and the open message. However, look at the calender on both of those pages. The now open page has a May calender, while the letter saying KK is closed has a June calender. I think that the site is having difficulty, and I do not think Kingda Ka is open. Please correct me if I am wrong. *** Edited 6/20/2005 2:09:37 PM UTC by nesdude***

i saw this last night, & kept going back because it didn't seem real. the third time i went back (jsut tripple checking) the site changed and the letter from the gm to the public appeared so i was confused, perhaps they are having trouble with their site
Yeah...looks like it's still down. Just a web error.

If you notice, when you do get the message that its open, it also shows May's calendar. That's on old message and must be a website glitch.

Because one Ford car has an airbag fail to deploy doesn't mean that all will fail.

But if 20% of Ford's cars fail to deploy the airbag, they do a recall and fix whatever it is.

Some of you CP fans are ridiculous! For those that are happy this happened I'm assuming it's because you are either 10 years old and have no clue about anything other than what's going on in your little bubble. Grow up!

FYI: That's not a question you have to create a post for. *** Edited 6/21/2005 2:18:06 AM UTC by Eric J.*** *** Edited 6/21/2005 2:23:27 AM UTC by Eric J.***

man this really sucks......im goin in 3 days and i was planning on ridin KK but the damn thing broke down.......oh well it just wasnt ment 2 b then lol. and u Cedar Point people effing suck!!! boo u whores!

I <3 rollercoasters!

Yep, there's a mature post.

I am a fan of CP. I'll admit it.

When KK went down though it sucks. I'll probably never get out there to ride it (although I'm aiming for next summer). And I'm sure there are people from Jersey who would never get out to CP to ride TTD. If SF is willing to invest in the ride, I would hope for all you Jersians that it stays up.

I must also say I felt a bit of "Ha ha" at all the CP haters who said KK would be a million times more reliable than TTD. Would that be a good thing, sure, but its nothing to brag about like you actually have/had a hand in making it more reliable.

Hopefully SF can get this thing back up and running quickly so that the east coasters can ride the great ride we've had for 2 years here in the upper midwest.

I am going on July 1st and this will be my only time up there this year. I was wondering if anyone has any information that would point to an opening before then. I can only pray now I guess.
Only thing most of us can say is to keep your eyes on the park website and watch for info. GAdv has been very tight lipped about KK all season as to when it would originally open and such so don't expect any word until the day it reopens.

Watch the tram car please....

I wouldnt count on it being opened by then. The parts havent arrived yet and the ride has to be put back together and be reinspected by the state. Remember how long it took last time.
