KK BIG breakdown?!?!?

..not to get off track again, but who was the idiot who said ohio wasnt as humis as NJ, U can almost see the humidty at CP
JDB, the reason you saw water dripping down from the track was because they use it to cool down the catch car and cables. thats a normal thing. cedar point has the same thing on dragster. when metal goes that fast it heats up very quick as im sure you know and that was one of the major reasons dragster kept breaking down in 03. they added the water in so it would cool down the metal because the friction gets so intense. if you watch a vid of dragster at the launch, sometimes ull see water spray up from the back of the train. hope that helps explain why you saw that
Thanks to CP's maint. team for figuring out the water system. I always thought the garden hose was kinda funny, now they have it piped in.

And for those of you who said TTD would stay down with KK, TTD has been up and running since yesterday.

Yes, so know it is the tallest and fastest operating roller coaster in the world. ;)

I rode the tallest fastest operating coaster in the world twice yesterday. :}

Awesome, that's the way to do it.

Jason: that doesn't mean TTD wasn't down for modifications related to KK's failure.

Well, inspections related to Ka's failure at the very least...modifications, theoretically, wouldn't be needed since the liner which failed and apparently caused Ka's *issues* wasn't part of TTD's design (which merely showers riders with cable shards)...

Hmmmm, LIMs certainly do seem trouble-free in comparison...;)

TTD has a liner, what do you think they are cooling with the water?

Just one thing. I am scared as hell to ride TTD mainly because if KK wasn't shut down for minor operations then that ride would've killed quite a few people most likely.

Secondly, is it safe to ride TTD? I mean I know I can't get a totally correct answer but maybe some of you can give insight to your thoughts on the ride etc.

Thanks :)

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

Well, I've talked to this other guy on another site who is a ride op for Kingda Ka and SFI won't let him say anything. Hopefully he'll say whats up after its fixed.

i'm not sure what to put here..

TTD is safe, if it wasn't CP would shut it down. I took my 12 year old daughter on it twice Thurs., if I didn't think it was safe I never would have let her ride it.

Kyle Fobe you are a joke. What park, or insurance company, would run a coaster if it were not safe. Give me a break, TTD is up..safe...and working get over it.
Just remember, there's about 1 in 10,000 chance you will die every time you drive a car. That makes TTD look like the safest place on earth.

If the lottery was 1/10,000 I'd be buying tickets left and right.

TTD is as safe now as it was a month ago, the same as it was a year ago, and the same it will be a year from now.

Because one Ford car has an airbag fail to deploy doesn't mean that all will fail.

TTD is safe, believe me, you are strapped down on that ride so tightly, you can't go anywhere. You have a seatbelt, and a form fitting lap bar, like MF's, if that is what you are worried about. It's very safe, my 8 year old cousin went on it with me, and loved it. She wanted to go on again.

Lol, Coastergirl. I think you missed the point.

If you are on a coaster train that suddenly gets twisted like a wreacked car due to a mechanacal issue under the track, I doubt that being strapped in tight is going to help.

If you rollback at 120mph, and the brakes are not successful in slowing the train before it reaches the train in the staging area, once again being locked into the ride isn't an issue.

I doubt that KK will have the same problem again after it is fixed.

I doubt that the brakes would ever fail durring a rollback.

BUT...Remember when S:ROS's brakes failed?

I know, i'm just reassuring him, I meant if he thought he was going to fall out or something. ;) Which S:ROS??

SFNE and SFA have both had brake failures.
