KK BIG breakdown?!?!?

SF-don't rush the opening of KK. It was originally supposed to open in April, and when they opened it, I think that it was still too early. They should have waited until early June, at least. IMO.

Knoebels- 4/28

I think these super sized rocket coasters are starting to run smoothly, kind of. Not counting these days it’s been closed recently TTD is closed to prevent a SF disaster, TTD has only been closed all day once. No for CP that’s terrible reliability, but for most parks that is not half bad
The track temp at a Nascar race is higher than ambient because the track is black asphalt and it absorbs heat. The track on KK is steel and I would assume that most of the train is too so these will both expand and contract at the same rates causing no binding whatsoever. Also, the expansion on track about 5-6 feet wide would be minimal.

The more important thing is that anyone wanting to break the record can't just clone KK, unless they are somewhere warmer, the expansion of steel over 456 feet high could cause the coaster to grow in height by a whole 0.1m !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI TTD in now up and running.

They actually only sent two or three trains the entire day. I was there at opening and the ride was scheduled to be "down for inspection" all day. They opened it at about 11 and only got a couple of trains out before a "routine breakdown" occurred, emptying the line (around 1:00). Then, during testing the big breakdown occurred.

Don't know if the supposed inspection was related to the final failure, but there hadn't been more than 50 people on the ride all day and that was a good 4 hrs. earlier.

^ should have stayed longer, its running now.

Hhahhha.. nothing drastic like this. You forgot, this was the first of our type, so we didn't know what to expect. We did have alot of problems, but now we know how to fix them aswell. The problems we have now are minor.

Six Flags, as gay as it already is, decided to copy TTD by being a little faster and taller. Then you guys in that region act like you're #1 and that TTD is nothing.

Yeah, you guys had it comin.

What the hell is all this "we" stuff. Do you own the coaster? Do you run the park? What exactly is gay about Six Flags? I haven't seen any rainbow colored flags in pictures of the loading platform. Do you even know what the word means?

As for the genius who said that Ohio isn't as humid as New Jersey, how comes I felt the need to immediately take a shower upon entering Sandusky in July of my visit? Could it be there's this big body of water called Lake Erie that contains a lot of moisture and the park just happens to be located on it? Nah, couldn't be that. *** Edited 6/16/2005 10:54:20 PM UTC by Intamin Fan***

Most of the SF parks are NOT gay. I've been told by the higher ups that the gayest of all is SFGAm, mostly because of how well it's run.

I would say, imho, that the LEAST gayest SF park was SFWoA. It is reported to have broken down rides and overflowing garbage cans.

I suspect SFGAdv is gay, and it's just very straight acting. One day soon, maybe MM will come out and show the world what it truely is.

Now Disney, umm...

Awesome post dexter.... I SO agree with you that SFGAdv is a total bottom, but has to keep it under wraps because the parents are unnacepting.

P.S. Homosexuality is SO Gay!

KK and TTD are quite phallic, does that make them gay? *** Edited 6/17/2005 5:00:11 AM UTC by Ken Park***
How about we get back on topic...shouldn't the SFGadv website be providing more frequent updates, or a cam or something so that the people can see what is happening? Or at least a picture of the train stuck out on the launch track?

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

SFMM was once Metrosexual, but then he got older, out of shape, and flabby.
...and now it's just a troll.

BigJim, are there people who are actually that bored as to watch a train stuck out on the track on a webcam? Oh wait a minute, don't answer. It'll get fixed when it gets fixed. They may have to get parts which could take a while to come in. There may be absolutely nothing to report on a day to day basis.

For those who don't know or remember, TTD had it's nylon liners replaced frequently in the first year due to them wearing out faster than expected. Towards the end of the year, hoses carrying water to the sled track appeared. The water serves several purposes: cool the nylon liners, cool the catch car brakes, and (in a very limited sense) lube the liners. Does anyone know if KK is being watered in this manner??

KK and TTD need to be watered? I thought they were lawn ornaments, now you're telling me they are actually plants? ;)

After each KK launch I observed water dripping down from the launch track.
No no no I wasn't talking about a webcam. Just a picture up on the website so that people can see at least what happened to the ride...and for those who aren't coaster enthusiasts, they'd be able to see that the train is stuck on the launch, and that's all they'd care to know. Ya feel me playa?

Holla holla holla!

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Usually, parks try to minimize these types of things, not draw them up front. All people need to know is that the ride is down. It wouldn't help the GP's perception of the ride if they are shown a beat up train stuck on the track with bent brake fins and who knows what else.
