Kings Island Fast Lane

Fright Lane has now been announced for Halloween Haunt at Kings Island.

You save by buying more, just like Fast Lane. It's $10 cheaper on Fridays than on Saturdays. Fast Lane will continue to be available as well, but the 2 are completely separate as of right now.

Even at $40, it's a good value. On a normal Haunt Saturday you'll be lucky to do more than 3 mazes in one night due to crowds.

3 may even be generous. I was there last fall on a Saturday and saw a 3 hour wait for the outdoor walk through down by SOB.

KI's haunt lines are so stupid that we quit going and started doing other things for Halloween. This would help quite a bit.

Ironically (or maybe not so much), all of the bigger local, regional haunts around us offer some kind of FOL access already.

Eh...that's why I go on Friday and Saturday. I can hit almost all the haunts and ride most every ride multiple times (got two rides on FoF where I was literally the only person on a Friday night in 2009) on Friday night. I clean up with Diamondback rides on Saturday morning, see the shows and ride a very few rides through the early afternoon, and then pick up a final few haunts that I skipped Friday in the late afternoon/early evening. No stressing about wait times, no real planning, and no running around the park like a chicken with your head cut off. Oh, and no paying for FOL access. ;)

Of course, it also helps that we live about 3hrs. away, so its nice not driving home after a long day/night at the park.

But yes, the lines for the haunts are absolutely ridiculous on Saturdays. CP can be crazy as well, but I don't think I've ever seen a true 3+hr. line for a haunt attraction like at KI. They don't really have any scare zones, though, which probably helps with the other haunt lines at CP.

Huh. Now this I would pay for. Gonch is 100% right...the lines are absolutely ungodly.

This is terrible.

( ;) )

Seriously, I would (or maybe I should say I will) buy this easily. I feel bad for the poor schmucks who have to wait over three hours for a 5 minute haunt.

Doesn't this make their wait longer though? Go ahead and add another 15 or 20 minutes to that three-hour wait. Oh it's okay, those guys paid us to cut in front of you. lol

Does going earlier in the Haunt season help with the lines? I want to go, but I hate big crowds, "Fright Lane" or no "Fright Lane".

Do other parks get as bad as Kings Island on Saturdays during their Halloween events? Cedar Point can be obscenely crowded but you can sorta kinda get some things done, whereas Kings Island feels completely hopeless on a Saturday. If I were foolish enough to go on a Haunt Saturday again with the expectation to get anything at all done I would seriously consider the FOL pass.

Man, you guys are making me look forward to Halloween even more than I already was. We broke out the Halloween movies the other day, because it was cold and dreary and just seemed like time to do so. I can't wait.

Kennywood can get hella-busy on Saturdays, as well. It's just the nature of that type of event.

Not sure about the Cincy region, but high school football is crazy popular here, and played on Friday nights. That makes for a much less crowded park. I'd estimate that weather notwithstanding, Fridays pull about 50% of a Saturday crowd.

Hi

When I used to go to CP frequently, I noticed that Friday nights in the fall were that same way, too. There's a pretty big football culture around there, too, from what I can tell. It's pretty big near me, 80 miles closer to you.

Lucky me, they upgraded our high school team's stadium, which included an extremely overpowered sound system. The stadium is in the middle of a city park about a mile and a half from my house, and we can hear everything loud and crystal clear.

Generally speaking, yes, crowds are lighter the earlier in the season you go. The main exception is going to be a weekend with better than normal weather (warmer, no rain). If you can manage a hotel (Microtel usually hasn't pretty decent prices), definitely do the Friday/Saturday thing and save yourself the money from FrightLane. Admittedly the weekend in 09 was not amazing weather, but it was later in Oct. and didn't do more than drizzle.

Now the $30 or $40 for Fright Lane at KI I would go for. The $75 Zombie Tours at CP not so much.

I do, however, want to eat dinner in that haunted house at CP.

I did the Boeckling's Banquet at Eerie Estate (a.k.a. Dine with the Dead) at CP last year. I enjoyed it so much I'm doing it again this year. I already have my reservations.

Yes, that's the one I want to do. Can't take the wife, though, because she hates haunted houses. Go figure.

Ask the wife to reconsider. The waitstaff is in costume and in character, but I wouldn't call them Screamsters. The lights are on, kids are there eating too... it's family friendly. Now, to say that there are absolutely zero scares isn't true, there are a few.

...the biggest one coming when you see your bill, right?

They charge my credit card in advance. So my Oct. 15th 2011 meal is already paid for.

Even with the tax and gratuity included in the price of the meal and being prepaid, it still feels strange to walk away from the table after such a great meal and not leaving a tip.

This will be my third year doing the banquet. The price went up a bit more this year.

Year 1 - $50

Year 2 - $65

Year 3 - $68.95

Yeah Jason, not sure how high I'm willing to go. This will be my second year for the banquet.
