Intamin track and supports arrive at Cedar Point

Posted | Contributed by WickedTwister44554

Intamin track sections, some red, some white, have arrived at Cedar Point and unloaded next to Mean Streak along Perimeter Road. A giant yellow support beam and several short tan supports have also arrived.

Reasons we thinks a 400ft coaster is coming to Cedar Point. There are two footers that are around 30ft deep, people have said they are deeper than any other roller coaster footer in Cedar Point. Werner Stengel who is probably designing this, announced in May that some park in the US is going to see a 400ft+ coaster in the US. A lot of people who say they have "sources" have said its going to be 400ft tall coaster or taller, people who know haven't dismissed the idea. Someone said on this site they don't believe a 400ft coaster is going to happen soon and someone who knows a lot about the new ride responded "ye of little faith". If the station is higher up off the ground and have the launch at a slight angle going up it would be possible to break 400ft. It make would make more sense just to put a couple million more to break 400ft, then to spend more money on a whole new coaster later. A 400ft coaster will have a bigger affect now then in a couple years. If some of you can't believe a 400ft+ coaster is coming to CP next year then just imagine what the GP will think when they hear about this coaster. Those are some of the reasons I think Cedar Point will see a 400ft+ launch coaster next year. *** This post was edited by Corey on 8/26/2002. ***

So now you guys are measuring footer depth? Riiiiight...

How would you measure the footers. You can barely see them from the ground, and if you saw them from above its kinda hard to judge depth.......
Sorry about that I should of put around 30 ft deep. I never saw them digging the footers, but a lot of employees walked past there, and its been said for a while that they are very deep. *** This post was edited by Corey on 8/26/2002. ***
So, in other words, you made that up?

No, there have been claims from several employees before the season started that they though that they would construction a basement in Area 51. This either turned out to be the compartment for the nitrogen tanks/footers or just a huge deep footer, possibly 75x50 feet. The 30 feet deep I have a problem with, but the rest of the info is true.

You people seriously crack me up. How could you possibly know what the plans are being a member of the GP? Just because we are enthusiasts doesn't mean we can make assumptions that we are correct all the time. Personally, the idea of a 400 foot launched ride this soon sounds incredibly rediculous, sans Superman the Escape. You might as well say that Cedar Point is installing the world's first 400 foot stand-up-inverted rocket launched coaster that will be the first to dive into the lake, or something along those lines. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING SO GIVE IT UP AND WAIT FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Wow. Enough said I guess!

All this talk about footer depths is tiring. I had a close friend working at the park this year, and they gave me the approximate statistics of the ride that is coming to CP. My info is that it IS 435ft, and it reaches speeds exceeding 135. They also included that the government did put some kind of restrictions on the height of the ride do to the difficulty breathing at that height and speed. I'm not for sure but i think it had something to do with being so close to the lake. It also has new harnesses to keep dumbasses from cutting their arms off and dislocating their shoulders like on MF. Oh and if CP does decide to build a new ride then they better make sure it is safe, and sturdy. We wouldn't want another ride that needs to be welded nightly like the Wicked Twister.

Drachenfyre, you obviously haven't been paying attention very well...the people "in the know" would beg to differ. Also, when it does get announced, many people are going to be eating their words...just like the nay-sayers that said that CP wasn't going to get a coaster this year period.

Yea, I'm going to be eating my words, and I'll apologize profusely to the "people in the know" and the Dippin' Dots guy...

By the way, if they tear down a coaster, wouldn't it be the 15th coaster? ;) Sorry, had to stir up the hornets' nest.

The thing that might be in question is if Chaos or Troika are only being moved (I believe so) or are going to be removed completely. I'd really like to see them moved to where Peanuts Playground is, so that the coaster will be the 69th. :)

I e-mailed Cedar Point asking them what their new ride will be and this is what they e-mailed me back.

Thank you for your interest in Cedar Point.

Cedar Point will build a major new ride for next summer. Parts have already
begun to arrive and construction is scheduled to begin after Labor Day.

Chaos, Troika and Paddlewheel Excursion will close on Labor Day due to the
construction of the new ride.

Chaos and Troika will be relocated for next season and Paddlewheel Excursion
will be revamped for next season.

A formal announcement with additional details about the project will be made
at a later date.

Ok, my sarcasm has ran away from me. I NEVER said that a major ride WON'T appear at Cedar Point next year, just that your wishful thinking is way off color. Just making myself clear.

Ok, its a good thing I have my boots on cause the crap is getting very deep. Corey says he has info on the footers. You cannot make any speculations on how deep they are, without seeing the plans for the ride. Which brings up a good point, if CP wanted us to know they would have already told us about the ride. And Mikey Pop, from previous knowledge, the parks do not tell the minimum wage workers what their plans are. They just tell them what they need to know. "That there is construction on a new ride." the workers do the same thing you guys are doing. Make stuff up!!!! So until somebody can come up with a real set of the blue prints, only then can you speculate on the height, speed, and intensity of the new ride.

I personally think that the new coaster will be taller than Millennium Force and around 110-120 mph. I dont want to make assumptions because ill look like an idiot when im wrong.

I think CP's getting an Xcelerator by the looks of it. I took the liberty of stealing someone's map and doing crappy drawings on it. Just my guess, but see for yourself (dont laugh at my drawing =P) my link should show it...

Just a thought...

From what I've read from Jeff's posts and the hints in them. It's gonna be a rocket coaster taller than S:TE. As for the design I hope it won't be a scaled up clone of Xcelerator. Although it does seem to fit into the spot like Kaldaim's map shows.

I'm guessing and hoping that on the first big hill. It will be straight up and twist 180 down. Or vice versa. The station I keep hearing will be like MF with an unload and load section. I really hope this coaster will be alot bigger (length and time). I hope for it to at least be 1 minute. Thats still short but it's better than 23 seconds.

And don't worry TalonJosh1491, I doubt you'll be wrong. It'll have to be that fast and like I've said. Jeff has hinted that it'll be taller than S:TE (I can't believe alot of you people haven't noticed his hints)
