Intamin track and supports arrive at Cedar Point

Posted | Contributed by WickedTwister44554

Intamin track sections, some red, some white, have arrived at Cedar Point and unloaded next to Mean Streak along Perimeter Road. A giant yellow support beam and several short tan supports have also arrived.

See the photos at Guide to The Point and Virtual Midway.

Since it seems like an entire army of CBuzzers are taking it upon themselves to investigate this, I say CP can take their time in announcing this one. By the time they actually announce it people will speculate that this is anything from a new woodie steel hybrid, to extra track for Wicked Twister or Millie. ;) I still can't help but get the chills. A new one for the Point. CPgenius said that in 2001, Cedar Fair spent more money on Knott's Berry Farm, than on Cedar Point. Knotts got Xcelarator, CP got Wicked Twister. He also pointed out the difference in the advertising campaigns. Wicked Twister lacked the in depth "story behind the ride" that the other have had. I'm really starting to agree that Knott's was used as a "lab rat" with Xcelarator, Cedar Fair wanted to test Intamin's new toy out over there, before perfecting it at the Point.

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

Well i was correct about tomb raider the ride being a topspin 3 months in advance, I was right about the dark knight at sfne being a b&m floorless, and i was correct about s:uf being a b&m flyer, so my official prediction for this coaster will be an intamin launched coaster, lets say with a 220 foot top hat, and about 5000 feet of track.

millenium force is 310 feet high and 80 degrees, hold on, im getting veclemt, talk amongst yourself, i'll give you a topic, Kings Island is neither the kings nor an island discuss

Guys, guys, guys.

It's track for the new WT clone at Valleyfair, they are just storing the track at CP so that they can get your panties in a bind.

I don't care what it is, I'm just excited that the PO!NT is getting #16. Now can we share the wealth a little with the Great Plain's parks (VF & WOF)?

Don't you mean number 16?
I was at the point yesterday, and was talking to some guy from Virginia in the MF line. He said that it's supposed to shoot you 135, and be 426' tall. Just what I heard. He also said something that the fed. gov. put some laws on the height of coasters. I didn't hear about that but we talked about Jersey's. Also, if no one heard, they have all kinds of equipment behind the wall. They're actually moving around dirt.

I was at the Point Thursday and Friday (first time in 6 years, and MF is the absolute best). There was major work behind the walls for "Building for the future", and the buzz around the park was after I corrected a person in line for Blue Streak "Do you know what the name of the new coaster that is going to be 435 ft is going to be?" to which I responded; "I haven't read the rumors for this week."

Just know they are saying there is a new coaster, and it's going to be big.

Hmmm, How soon we all forget whats going on at CP Sepember 12 to 14th, the IAAPA summer meeting. What a time to annouce a 400 foot dueler.

"CP America's Number One And Only Rocking Roller Coast"

Sweet 16 on the way

I can't wait till next year to visit CP for 2 days to ride

my No.1 coaster (MF), No.1 inverted (Raptor) and

My No. 1 (Cedar Point) and to ride the 16th

coaster at CP.

Nice to see that the point is building another coaster to keep up with SFMM.

I wonder who will open the new ride the first (because he gets the record...)

It kind of iritates me that every one is suspecting a 400 foot coaster, why would Cedar Point spend probably around 20 mil on a coaster over 400 feet, just to overshadow a 25 million dollar, 300 foot coaster that was built two years ago, I agree with DuffGardens, a 220 top hat with 5500 feet of track.

I agree to I don't think it will be nearly as tall as everyone thinks but I could be wrong.
Rctycoon, because if they don't overshadow it, somebody else will. Cedar Point's determined to build and build, especially before anybody else is going to build it. If they thought that way, their biggest would be Gemini, and where would they be? They built a bigger and better ride right next to it (magnum), and then MF. I'm not saying I do know the height, but I would be the least bit surprised if it is much bigger than MF
They want to devistate the competition in Cleveland...as if this year wasn't good enough? :) Who'se going to go to SFWoA to ride a hyper when there is a 400 footer at Cedar Point? One reason we think it will be this big is because no one was quick to dismiss a ride of this magnitude. I am a firm believer that we will see 400 ft, it Sandusky this year.

I believe it will be bigger then MF but I think the max height we will see is probably 350 or so.

Well...remember Goliath was well into its construction when it was announced and you see how that helped publicity. Maybe CP is trying the same idea.

I still agree that it probably won't open until next year however.

MFM, yes they did overshadow Gemini, but look it took them over 10 years to overshadow, 1978-1989, and same with Millennium Force 1989-2000, they do it in about 10 year intervals.

I was just at CP yesterday and it looks like they are putting in footers behind a construction wall by the paddle wheel ride.
Rctyoon2k, why are you fighting the fact that it will be way taller than MF? Everybody "in the know" has said otherwise...is it really so hard to accept?

I have lived fairly close to cedar point my whole life. I am very very firm on seeing something 400 feet or taller. every single roller coaster that has been put in cedar point has broken some kind of record or shattered one. I doubt they would build something that is far from record breaking. Cedar Point is known for the roller coasters and they have never fallen short, ever. If you look back in history, you were right about gemini, magnum, and millennium force, but technology is advancing at a more rapid pace that before then and other parks are building bigger coasters, faster. It is also possible that the 16th coaster will be such an undertaking that it will take a year and a half to complete. cedar point has put a coaster on its map every two years without delay. Why would they stray from this? SFWoA has so many zoning restrictions in the city its unreal. cedar point already had them beat before they started

CPGenious, I'm just saying, don't say I was wrong when the coaster isn't 400 feet, thats why I can't accept it.
