Intamin track and supports arrive at Cedar Point

Posted | Contributed by WickedTwister44554

Intamin track sections, some red, some white, have arrived at Cedar Point and unloaded next to Mean Streak along Perimeter Road. A giant yellow support beam and several short tan supports have also arrived.

See the photos at Guide to The Point and Virtual Midway.

Who cares if WT is cloned? Personally, I would love to see one in Allentown, PA. But back to Cedar Point, this one won't be a clone of Xcelerator, because that would make the world "stand up and take notice." But that doesn't exclude the possibility of Xcelerator on steroids in one form or another.

Hey guys guess what, Raptor has been cloned GASP !!

OH NO I WILL NEVER RIDE IT AGAIN!!!

-----------------
All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

Interesting that Cedar Point would go from having no launched coasters to having two in the span of two years! The rocket coaster is great and will make a nice addition. However it needs to be much longer. Xcelerator is too short. With the rumored mega-height of this new Intamin, hopefully it will be a longer ride too.

Crossing my fingers...

He he... I just got back from a great day at SFGAdv (my first visit :) ) and am glad to hear such fine nrws from the Rollercoast.

The two different colors suggest to me a dueling launch but thats just my guess. I doubt that they are building two Intamins for the same season. With the track in the same area and arriving at the same time, this is most likely a dueling/racing coaster.

Wow! This is so exciting!

Before you criticize somebidy, walk at least a mile in their shoes. That way, if they get mad, the're a mile away and barefoot!

I still think that MF and WT, not only awesome rides and world class coasters, were built to help build the general public's tolerances so that they could be incorporated and magnified into such an extreme ride. Many people that were thought they could never ride or were hesistant to ride a 300 foot coaster (an ended up doing so) perhaps have the courage to conquer a 400 footer. Those who had never been on a launched ride now know the experience of it and will welcome a much more extreme launch. Some thought that MF was just too tall, and few just won't ride, but the lines are always at least a sustained 35-45 minutes so that proves people love the height and speed.

This is going to be huge, and I sure hope FreeWay is offered for it. :)

Oyyyy!!! Don't knock X until you've tried it.

"Probably most who love CP have never been to SFMM and vise versa. I just hope that the parks don't go belly up trying to out do eachother, though I do like the rides that this competition creates."

EXACTLY....well said. *** This post was edited by ALEEN6E6 on 8/23/2002. ***

The launch track comes in with the copper fin attachments installed (but not wired) if I'm not mistaken. Is it just me or does the Xcelerator track seem much more twisted? http://www.twistedrails.com/kbf/nov23-04.shtml Maybe CP's coaster will be faster.
I think the supports are gold not tan folks. As for the fins, the come pre-installed, but covered. Some of you guys/galls need a reality check though. Some of these posts could earn you time in a nut house! :-) *** This post was edited by Snoopy on 8/23/2002. ***
The ride will open in 2003. Why give the competition a whole two years to build a taller one? It's not as if other parks don't have rocket coasters(either S&S or Intamin) in the works anyway.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

I wish CP had a good indoor attraction. I always wished Wildcat was indoors but that's just because I like Frontier City's Nightmare Train and SFOT's Runaway Mountain. That would be cool if this was indoors since it has very bland colors. Everything else is usually fairly colorful at CP. Heck, even Blue Streak. What am I saying, who cares as long as there's a CP caliber 16th coaster.

Hey guys (and Gals), any possibility this is just track for a refit on WT?

No, the track isn't twisted enough to be for WT.
I just visited Cedar Point last week, Aug 15-17th and my wife noticed the Construction area near Magnum with "supports" of some kind sticking up. We didn't think anything of it until later that night when a Cedar Point Shuttle operator told us that next year the Point would be home of the worlds tallest 400' and fastest 100+ coaster. This was hard to believe with the recent opening of Wicked Twister and M.Force, but with all this news of Intamin track arriving and rumors of stuff happening on the Island, i.e. dirt mounds and construction...anything is possible.

Notice how one piece of the white track is sloped and the other is straight. At first I was thinking that this could be a launch strip. But after looking at this pic of Xcelerator:

http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery1574.htm?Picture=12

It doesn't look like it would be a launch section. Although I still think it will be a rocker coaster because the tan supports are really short and look like they are very slightly slanted as if it is for the launch section (is it just me or are they slanted). As for the white track I think it will be the track for the drop.

mmm....vertical drop....

Just a random thing to report...

My friend just got back from Cedar Point and he mentioned that a bus driver in Sandusky reported that a coaster 100 feet taller than Millenium Force would be built. He also captured some of the track on his video camera. Wow! Looks great!

Whatever it is I'm excited and it just gives me another reason to go back to the Point.

I'd rather being riding coasters... or playing Halo:)

Jeff just LOVES to make us jitter with his little hints and tips, along with CP's. WE CAN'T STAND IT!!!!!!!!

They better tell us soon.... they better tell us soon..... BTW: I did see construction equipment (buldozer, backhoe, etc.) in the clearing from a certain nearby ride. ;) And also, don't ride the Paddlewheels to get a good view. All you get are the horrible jokes the ride op's make......

LOL, "a bus driver in Sandusky?" Didnt I see him getting a Lemon Chill at the park? Or was that at the dippin dots stand?

"Dingo 65" and "CPTwister"

I would bet money that both of you met the same driver that I did...Even if you didn't it is definitly not a coincidence. He was an older man, really outgoing, said he had ridden everything in the park....Well I really hope this will "make the world stand up and take notice" One more thing, if I remember I believe he said it would be an air pressure launch coaster....hmmmmm. Let me know if any of this rings a bell to you two.

Could Dragster be the name? Anyone think T-452 means anything at all? *** This post was edited by Mike Slisinger on 8/24/2002. ***
