HW Has reported!

Paula, this might be a little too early to ask this, but do you know if Voyage will have an on-ride photo? And BTW, what happened to The Raven's on-ride photo?

Great additions and I concur what many of you already have stated. However I wonder why the decision was made to use Thanksgiving as the holiday when the marketability of Easter would have been much higher considering it is #3 on gross sales in the holiday department (Christmas#1 Halloween#2). With that being said, I am looking forward to the Voyage and what looks to be a great coming year at HW-SS.

Actually, The biggest restaurant and party night is the night before Thanksgiving.

Also, Easter is very one religion oriented. Nothing wrong with it but Thanksgiving is more of a extention to The fourth of july. Pure American and celebrating all we are blessed with. Freedom, Prosperity and right to CHOOSE our Religion or not.

Too bad it don't mean freedom from taxes :)
Chuck

^and Christmas is not? Really....

Leaving the religious aspects out of it for a second think about the comercialism of Easter and tell me that it is not marketable. Also think about the major retailers. At Wal-Mart, Target and Shopko they don't even recognize Thanksgiving in marketing. It goes Halloween (out in August) to bam Christmas (set in October). Happy Decemboween!

So sad they built it with steel supports, by 2009 the coaster will be a joke. Why dont we learn from history? The coaster looks amazing...untill i saw the steel structure....

Wow...it only took about 10 mins for the first person to complain. Nice going, jar!

Sorry, but Woowooboy beat him to the punch with a complaint on the other thread before the announcment was over.

darn him

The Voyage will have 20% more airtime [than Shivering Timbers](on an apples-to-apples basis, as determined by the GG engineers, who designed both coasters).

Well, it looks like this ride is going to be out doing Shivering Timbers by quite a bit.

Also, Paula, I'm impressed that you had that stat on hand. *** Edited 7/14/2005 4:04:25 AM UTC by 0g***

I was going to hold off visiting until 2007 but I think I see a 2006 trip in my future!

This coaster should really raise Gravity Groups' "stock" even more. I think I'm starting to like these hybrid coasters!

"Heavily medicated for your safety!"

All I can say...it was worth the wait.....

Thank you Holiday World!!!

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

^40,000 Paula? I am suggesting it was probably double that. Even Coasterbuzz was difficult to access for about 20 minutes. ;-)

The news conference was amazing ( and Pat is quite the comic as usual....lol).

Thanks for all the fun (and guessing games!).

Jeff...did you happen to notice the anticipated ride time?

I noticed on the animation that it is a minute to the top of the lift. I also noticed that there are two brakes shown near the end of the ride.

I didn't look real close, but if the animation timing is even close to being right, full capacity would be about a 72-second interval. It may not need a mid-course brake anywhere near the mid-course to run three trains, depending on how long it takes to get from the safety brake back to the station. If that timing is right, this thing could run just like Magnum.

It looks like something that someone came up with in No Limits.

That's because both the on- and off-ride "animations" are NoLimits.

I rode Shivering Timbers last year and was blown away, instant favorite. HW seems as though they've got into the minds of every coaster ethusiast (wood+airtime+long ride+more airtime+headchopping tunnels+more airtime+wood surrounding="WOW")

Congrats to Holiday World! You have reached the deep inner heart of coaster ethusiast everywhere.

If the Raven and Legend didn't put this small family park on the map The Voyage is the MF and Magnum of 2006. *** Edited 7/14/2005 5:38:20 AM UTC by gomez***

I've already begun planning a trip for next summer based around Holiday World. ;)

No, I'm serious. The parks are lined up, and I'm working on financial outlines already.

On the note of everybody being excited about trips next year to ride this thing...

My mom wanted to go back and visit Holiday World on a DAY TRIP 2 years ago. Keep in mind we live 5 hours from the park.

Now my sister lives in St. Louis.

You know I'll be there.

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
"No more "teases" today please. Some others might not be teased, only annoyed. "

"Sig: Don't complain to people about your problems... 90% don't wanna hear it, and 10% are glad you have them. "

I cannot think of a better set of sentences to demonstrate the definition of contradiction. ;-)

I couldn't be happier for Holiday World. I'll be following construction all winter (hopefully they'll do updates via their website ala the Holiblog this year) and cannot wait to see the finished results. Even though the coaster is gravy, as others have coined, I am just as interested in the esthetics and feel of the overall area and how it fits into the park.

As I stated, I feel very fortunate to live where I do since next season is shaping up to be a good one for fun changes/installs at various local parks. That statement is not made to slight any particular park's announcment, rather to celebrate the fact that local parks will all be offering great things that will likely draw thousands and interest us coaster fans.

There was no way we'd ever make a claim like that without actually checking out the facts.

Actually, I was struggling with all the numbers, trying to write the news release a week or so ago. It was driving me crazy, as everything pointed toward 1) HW's third coaster; 2) world's third longest wooden coaster; 3) world's third fastest wooden coaster; etc., etc.

And "most tunnels" is not exactly what we wanted to hang our (pilgrim) hat on...

Knowing this bird would have a lot of air-time, I emailed GG, asking them to compare The Voyage's air-time with another ride they'd designed...

Needless to say, I had to rewrite my news release once I heard back from Chad. :)

After watching the video, I can say that I think this ride is going to be absolutely amazing. There are 4 reasons that I like Shivering Timbers. Hills 2, 3, 4, and 5. Voyage is appears to take the massive air time that Timbers has, plus a killer return run through the woods. The return woods run may be truly amazing in about 5 years after the canopy has had a chance to grow back in. The CCI engineers, who are now apparently at GG, have a great track record of being able to make every ride amazing, and I can’t wait to see if they can do it again. I can't wait for my first lap!

Given that Paula was responsible for "Udderly Blue Ice Cream", I wonder if one of the food emporiums in the new section will be called "Miles' Hot Dog Standish".
Sorry Shaggy. I fail to see what's a contradiction. I wasn't complaining about any of my problems, being that where you live and what coasters are in your geometric proximity are of zero concern to me. As for my signature, rest assured I mean every bit of it. You will never hear me voice one problem I have over a public internet message board, much less one who's goal is to stimulate intellectual conversation about roller coasters, but thanks for your concern.

You just clearly baited folks wanting them to ask what you meant, and I felt it was inappropriate for the thread it was contained in.

By the way, it's the next day now and Holiday World has had theirs (and a banner day, I might add). You can go back to getting people to beg you for info on whatever you would like them to beg you for.

Brian, who recommends inserting a :) or a ;) whereever into my text you feel you need it so as not to be offended or feel slighted in any way.
