Wow, I don't think we've had a Flip Wilson reference in AGES...good work Moosh! :)
Those of you who guessed that the videos were done in No Limits were correct (and incorrect)...

It was done in No Limits but The Voyage is so long NL had to do a special version just for it...so we "regular" users won't be able to open the file.

per the Holi-blog...

A few comments:

1 . WOW! Cool! Awesome! etc. I can't wait to ride!

2. I like the original name and theme. Does anyone else besides me keep saying "Voyager" by mistake? (no I'm not a Star Trek guy)

3. The turn-around looks so disorienting on the video. Most out-and-back turn-arounds have some kind of (pretzel) logic, but I think folks are gonna really be surprised by this one. "We're headed back...no we're not!?!"

4. I bet next summer, "twister" folks will say "Wow, that was a great twister", while their "out-and-back" buddies will say "What a super out-and-back". It only looks like an out-and-back from afar. Besides the main 3 hills, 90% of the rest of The Voyage looks like a twister to these eyes.

5. A triple down?! In a tunnel? Are you kidding me?! Its turkey with gravy AND sweet potatoes AND creamed corn AND biscuits AND pumkin pie with whipped cream, all on the good china of course. Plus you can scream at the dinner table.

A few questions:

1. The video shows almost the entire ride hidden in a Raven-esque dense cover of trees. Are there really that many trees on the site? Not critical, just curious?

2. Steel supports chosen for less initial cost, less long term maintanence, or other reason? Not critical, just curious?

3. How do you think The Voyage will affect the experience of the Raven and Legend? Sometimes parks install new coasters that trump their older ones maybe too much, especially if they are the same ride type (imagine if KI installed a typical B&M floorless, Vortex's place in the park lineup would be quite diminished). IMHO the Legend trumped, complemented, AND accentuated the fun of the Raven. A tough trick for sure. I think and hope that The Voyage will do the same for it's 2 "little brothers". I like the natural order the 3 coasters will appear in the park to new guests. What a "coaster education"!

I realize that nobody has ridden yet and my opinions are speculative, but Hey May '06 is a long time from now... ;^]

I think its fare to say that The Gravity Group has revelutionized they way wooden roller coasters will forever be built. In my opinion this will blow Hades to hell. :) It has everything Hades does except more and better. This is going to be the talk of the buzz just like Hades was. If this is how The Gravity Group will be making rides. I'll travel to any lenghts to ride one of these. Words cannot describe how amazing this coaster will be. This is defiently a coaster I want to ride in the next few years.

i'm not sure what to put here..

Done Hades yet? It's not exactly High Roller, ya know.

But has GG taken it up a notch? That's an understatement!

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Not yet. In 10 days I will. :)

And by all means, do Avalanche down the block. $14 after 5 pm may seem a little much for a park the size of a postage stamp, but you won't regret it. Trust me.

O I was defiently planning on that. :)

I've heard great things about it. Likes its almost better than Hades. But we'll see. :)

There aren't that many trees there, particularly where the lift hill and first hill will be- actually the whole thanksgiving area is pretty much cleared land right now. But the back half of the coaster will be in the thick of the forest I believe. Who knows what they have planned with tree planting and such- actually they said they're still working out a lot of the details.

Although upon a closer look, I might be really wrong about that because the lift is so long, the drop might actually dip right into the trees. *** Edited 7/14/2005 9:27:07 PM UTC by Mr. Bubbles***

I'll second that! Avalanche was every bit as good as if not better than Hades. It certainly has WAY more air ;)
I was watching a video of it and I thought it was a little bigger than that. Seriously, its like it turns does one hill turns again 1 hill and its gone around the park already. I didn't think the park was that small. And my family is planning on being at that park all day! I'll probably get 40 laps in on it. :)

Avalanche really, really favors the heavier among us. Especially on those left turns. *grabs ribs and winces*

GG's changed the game, but S&S still has cards to play.

Are you kidding me? If the "Regular" version of No-Limites can't build a coaster as long as Voyage, then I'm not buying it.

While Voyage is kinda long, its not that long.

And I thought NL was suppose to have "No limits"?

Are you sure about this? That they had to design a special version?

Landon Parks Holiday World Fan (HWF) from Bloomington, Indiana.
Yes Nolimits has limits lol you can't buld over 500 feet tall and no it will not let you build a coaster that long in one straight line. In the regular version of Nolimits it would have had to be in an L shape layout, i don't know the exact size of the plot of land nolimits let you use but it's not that big far as length. You can build some massive coasters in nolimits but not a record breading out n back such as the Voyage. Maybe in the nolimits 2 the land size will be expanded so you can make very long out n back type coasters.
Hmmm....lets see, I could spend $25-30 million on a 400 foot tall phalic symbol that acts like one, or spend roughly a quarter of the amount a real coaster that does what real coasters are supposed to do by offering a variety of thrills that isn't over in 15 seconds. Somebody please tell me again that wooden coasters aren't marketable anymore. Better yet, tell Holiday World. While your at it, please tell me how unreliable they are too, because I'm certainly not seeing it!! ;) nyuck nyuck :)

Seriously though, I am very excited for both Holiday World and the Gravity Group for the kahoonas to build a ride like this and of this caliber. Three world class wooden coasters in one park??? I praise the smaller parks for building the quality rides like this. This coaster will deliver unsurpassed thrills for many years to come. It won't get old and dated like many other rides can. The Voyage??....I like it!!!

Wood Coaster Fan Club - "Sharing a Passion for the Classics"
The Professional Bundle allows us to import track left/right rail coordinates instead of having to mess with the Bezier-Spline curves. The track is developed mathematically using jounce, jerk, etc. in 1ft intervals and then imported to give a very accurate representation of the layout.

Regarding length...you can build as long as a coaster as you want but not in a straight line. Ole has expanded the workspace area to accommodate longer out and back style rides.

The same real time rendering engine is still used.

There are additional camera options as shown on GGs rendering. You can also directly export AVI files to the screenshot directory.

I wonder how many design firms are NOT using NoLimits now. We love the program and Ole has been great to work with for updating the program to meet our needs.

The station starts at Mount Bahari ... where they piled all the dirt when they dug out our new wave pool. Once the ride starts, though, it's all forest. (It's gorgeous up there!)

Maintenance. It also appears it'll go up fast. Sort of a big K'Nex set.

3. How do you think The Voyage will affect the experience of the Raven and Legend?

I'm sure the enthusiasts will endlessly debate the assets of each one. :) Otherwise, I think a lot of folks will work their way up to The Voyage.

Thanks, Paula
