So are the ride ops going to be in Pilgrim outfits with the big buckle on the hat and shoes? That would flippin rule.
Except for the ones who have to dress like Samoset and Squanto.

Agreed.
But Google doesn't bump the thread up to the top of the page. :)

When I suggested a name from classic lit., I wasn't complaining about the name "Voyage". As a matter of fact, I love it. Very original, just like the coaster. I was just wondering if the idea of a name from classic lit. had been considered.

Ok, that's all you had to say....I'm sorry I even brought it up.

That would have been ideal ... definitely.
But it would either be "Pilgrim's Progress" or "Martha Stewart's Guide to your Tastiest Thanksgiving Ever."
Either one's a mouthful. (Ha! New pun! ...I am keeping a list.)

Awsome lol, now I remember seeing that picture. I totally forgot about it. I guess all of that excitement had something to do with it.
The nice thing about the ride is that after the airtime on those first three wonderful drops the rest is just gravy.
I guess I should stop before Paula beats the stuffing out of me. Good luck with your cornocopia of emails, Paula!
mOOSH -- still thinks Plymouth Rocket would have been a cool name...I guess you can save that for the next new ride for that section ;)
Some of this may have been covered in the reams of postings that has already occurred but I was wondering just how the name was arrived at? I know that the confines of the Thanksgiving section motif puts the naming process in a strait jacket and it can be difficult to arrive at something that seems viable for the park and the section itself. I have worked in various aspects of Marketing/PR myself for many years, but I thought that the naming of the coaster itself seems a tad flat on the tongue. Whereas one is definitely going on a VOYAGE when one boards this amazing ride (the VIRTUAL is UNBELIEVABLE!!), the VOYAGE, as a name, just doesn't seem to fit with what appears to be 2006's #1 Wood Coaster!!
Were the other Thanksgiving names just too hokey? PLYMOUTH ROCKET or PILGRIM'S BOUNTY or even THE WAYFARER come to mind as quick possibilities. Even VOYAGER would have worked and NO ONE would have thought of Star Trekian low-budget sci-fi cable television shows! (Well, after the first few months!!)
But, check this very probable statement out that will undoubtedly be uttered as of May, 2006:
"Come on, honey, let's go over and get a last ride on the Voyage."
Well. . .
Now, no piling on; I just want an honest assessment of what everybody thinks of the name. . .
BJW
It's strong. It's not cutesy or slick.
And it represents a lot ... in the history of our nation and for our park.
It also "fits" with the names of our other two wooden coasters.
It's easy to remember and easy to pronounce. And it doesn't rhyme with a dirty word. :)
