Holiday World should ban smoking

Ok here is my point! I am going to make it then I am done. You go to sporting events, Baseball games,Football, and soccer. All pro and all at out door staduims. You go to The Mall and or the movies. They tell you no smoking. You don't smoke. They have signs all over saying no smoke. So why when there is a sign in the Q saying no smoking is it now ok to smoke? You wouldnt break these rules at the football staduim or the mall would ya?

I don't think any of us are condoning breaking the rules.

I too get annoyed a queue smokers (makes me want one ;) ) and yes, a disregard for rules is never right.

I'm not sure that's the real issue being discussed.

Smoking kills bunnys. Do you like bunnys? Then don't be that mean guy that hurts bunnys.

Are you telling me that you've never seen someone smoking at a sporting event or in the mall?

Who said it was ok to smoke in a queue line?

And for the love of all that is holy, it's 'queue,' not 'Q.' Speaking of pet peeves. ;)

As usual Ryan put it in perspective. It's all about the bunnies. Won't someone think of the poor defenseless bunnies.

What will happen to Easter?

I am really disgusted and upset by smokers in the queue lines, but I'm not sure it needs to be outlawed in the rest of the park. Sure a designated area would be nice, but I can certainly live with it in the main midways.

However, the lack of regard that those who smoke in line show, and their anger if you confront them, is what upsets me. I really wish parks would crack down on that more.

Take care and God bless!

I'm one of those reformed smokers too and I can be tolerant of smokers. I have friends who smoke but my only thing is I won't let you smoke in my car. Smoking outside is fine, even smoking in my home is Ok. Just don't blow your smoke in my face.

Like Steve Martin once said, "Mind if I smoke? No. Do you mind if I fart?!!"

Wood - anything else is an imitation

Well said DIlinator! Well said! Not in confided area of space. I move if I could in line, but I can't!

It's amazing to me that the "militant non-smokers" get so up in arms here on these boards about every 3 months or so. Like LG said, despite the *real* scientific facts behind 2nd hand smoke, this attitude persists.

Now, I dont think anyone here advocates smoking within the cue. But the thought of expelling smoking from the park entirely, IMO, is ludicrous. I dont discount there are people who really do have reactions to smoke, but in an outdoor environment the risks are mitigated. Moreover, what is the next step? Banning smoking period? Something similar was tried with alcohol and you see what happened with that?

What I want to know is what happened to being able to make personal choices? If someone wants to "kill themselves" so be it. If a company wishes to allow them to smoke on their property, again so be it. If *you* dont want to be around people who smoke, then dont go to places that allow people to smoke. That is *your* choice.

You smokers have pretty much the whole park to smoke in. Why do you feel the need to strick up a cig in line! I feel if you smoke inline you should get the boot. Why do they kick people out for line cutting. Smoke anywhere in the park that is permitted. If you smoke where its not you should be gone. Anther thing that pisses me off. Since you smokers smoke in no smoking areas there are no ash trays there for you throw your butts on the ground. Thats littering and could be a $200 fine!

Awww, Jeremy took all my good material :)

Way to drop the bomb there - I was stringing it out and having fun with the debate. You opted for the "hail mary" and sent that ball downfield.

All that's left for me to say is I agree with every last word in 2Hostyl's post.

Crashmando: Why do you continue to bring up a moot point? WE ALL AGREE that smoking in line is wrong. Furthermore, you are generalizing by saying 'you smokers smoke in no smoking areas.' I'd like to think that many smokers do respect the rules, which again makes your point irrelevant.

If someone is smoking around you, you are forced to breath it. Breath and smell it, or hold your breath. Those are your 2 choices.

Those who smoke and do not think of others around them when they do are about as self centered as you can get. I personally do not want to breath or smell it.

Comparing it to perfume? How about i fart in your face? I can control that, and you would find it very offensive if i did that. It is the same type of offensiveness a non-smoker feels when smoke is blown in their face.

No one is saying we want to blow smoke in your face, Super7.

...and you have a third choice - move.

I guess this is where the argument comes to an end. Non-smokers refuse to move and smokers refuse to quit.

We've reached the impasse - I didn't think it'd die that quick. :(

None of the smokers here are condoning smoking in line. Period. It bothers me when people smoke in line due to the lack of respect given to the non-smokers that are in line. If I'm smoking in an acceptable place, I still am courteous to non-smokers that may be around. Just because one smoker does it doesn't mean that all of us are evil.
