Holiday World 2015

I'm not sure if it's been said or not, but RickRollercoaster - Welcome to Coasterbuzz...

An invert would be a great addition, but I think dive coaster should also be considered a front runner. All dive coasters since 2005 have had a splashdown element, which would fit with the Pilgrim's Plunge/Giraffica pool. Being able to sit 10 across could also be considered a "family-friendly" attribute.

If it's a dive coaster, couldn't they just call it Pilgrim's Plunge? How's that for a shot at Intamin?

What's a Coasterbuzz?

^It's what happens if you get too many consecutive laps on a Giovanola hyper...

...and why we now have to walk around after every other lap.

If you think about some of the clues, they could possibly be pointing towards Wing, Invert, or Flying Coaster. But as you some people say, it could be a red herring, but I don't think HW's in the business to deceive, but anythings possible. You can't just look at the clues and say, "this doesn't make sense to me, so it's bull****." I genuinely think they want us to figure something out, or they'd atleast have some walls built around the construction.

Here's the thing...stop and think about it. Even if you correctly guessed the coaster type, length, color scheme, name, height, location and orientation, you're still not going to know you were correct until the announcement - the same as everyone. No one is going to confirm your guess ahead of time.

These sort of things are silly time-wasters (not a horrible thing in and of itself for some, I suppose) meant to keep interest in a ride.

Even if you can go look back after the fact and every clue makes absolute sense and is so perfectly crafted that the genius makes you weep in awe, you're still not going to know what the ride is until everyone else does when the announcement is made.

You can post a gazillion times during your 66 days at sea with speculation, guesses, clue interpretation, footer pics and all the latest in spy gadegtry and you're still not going to know anything for certain until...say it with me...the announcement is made.

Don't get me wrong, we're all looking forward to a new ride at Holiday World and it will be fun to see what they have in store for us.

Hopefully that clarifies my post about the excitement being adorable - and I don't mean that as an insult, it's like watching a kid get excited about Santa at Christmas - and your interest in the clues being baffling.

Like RCMAC explained, being excited and interested is one thing. Posting constantly asking if we are too and adding not a whole lot is like the little dog in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons:

Of course then there are some people that just won't believe it's an invert (TM)...

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Hey! I told you back on page one of this thread! :)

Of course, one can speculate so many different ideas, that when the announcement finally comes, he/she will have inevitably been right.

My following of HW's announcement is done primarily by following this thread. And yeah, the WAGs get a little old.

If the park is already pouring footers, than didn't they have to get permits from the town/state? I know up here in new england parks can't do anything without approval.

Towns/states vary with how they must do approvals and how that information is disseminated (or is not). AND HW pretty much owns much of Santa Claus, IN. They are not under constant scrutiny and control by their neighbors such as parks like Dorney, SFNE or Busch Willamsburg.

Here's an interesting hypothetical question: Given the amount of respect the enthusiast community has for HW and the Koch famliy, if someone, say someone here on CB, were to get a hold of the plans and post them publicly, spoiling the announcement, what would the reaction be? (No, I don't have any info, just looking for opinions.)

For example, apparently someone leaked the plans for Carowinds new Giga today, but it hasn't even made it to CB yet. I'm thinking people were happy to get an early glimpse, and thanking the guy who leaked it. (if their identity was known.)

But because of our love of HW, if one were to legitimately spoil the HW announcement by posting actual plans, I wonder if it would be met with thanks, or backlash.

For the record, the Carowinds leak was talked about today starting here.

It did get kind of glossed over though. But I suppose that's expected given that we all kind of knew what it was going to be and generally where it was going to go. The plans weren't really anything new beyond a general layout.

As far as a hypothetical HW leak? My guess is the nerds need to know outweighs the loyalty.

Oh, it would be out there before you could say Merry Christmas, Happy Halloween, Have a Safe and Happy Fourth, and Pass the Stuffing.

Once the park submits plans to the town it becomes public knowledge due to the right to know act.If holiday world is doing work without permits thats against the law in every state except Indiana then.

The federal Right-to-Know Act involves community safety and disclosure in regard to chemical production in the area.

Rest assured that Holiday World is not proceeding without required permits. Somebody would surely have noticed and the fines on such a project would be insurmountable. Not to mention following the law would be the right thing to do.

Building permits are normally public record, so what keeps these things under wraps? Maybe Holiday World asked the city to pretty please keep it a super duper secret with a pinky handshake. Or maybe it's filed in such a way that the sleuths haven't uncovered it yet, but you'd think activity in that city/county would be such that it wouldn't be too hard to find.

Maybe it's something as simple as the permits, for the record, have been applied for, paid for, approved, and that's all anyone needs to know. Anything else plan-wise has been marked "not for disclosure".

There are plenty of people in the know within Santa Claus. However everyone is very tight lipped.

We can be sure that confidentiality agreements have been signed, too.

It's also true that many times the construction workers have been involved in a project without even knowing what the end result will be. Footers are footers, they just get out there and pour, anything else is on a need to know basis. And they don't need to know.

And how did you find out about the Carowinds leak? jk

I think the community has enough respect for HW to keep it under wraps and not make a big deal about it. They are one of the parks that enjoys the coaster community and it's quirkiness.

I can only speak for my home parks and i get to see the plans and get copies of the plans as soon as sfne or lake compounce submits them to the towns planning board. There's no such thing as confidentiality agreements between a business and the towns planning board. If you call the santa Claus town hall and ask them, they have to tell you or they are breaking the law.

It is a respect issue and of course confidentiality agreements have been signed. The park is the only reason people come to Santa Claus in the summer. People know this and in turn they let the park grow as it needs to and try not to be a hindrance to expansions.
