Hey PKI fans, let's talk about Tomb Raider

The people over at pki have done a geat job at keeping this project a secret!!!!!  This project must have been in plan for at least 3 years......  Tomb Raider the Ride is going to be a marvel of its time and I'm sure we'll all be speechless when we visit pki in the spring of 2002......  I can't wait for more information to come from pki starting the new year......  I'm sure PKI will amaze for the umpteenth time:)
-----------------
Is anyone here signed up to recieve the latest information and construction updates from pki?  I know I am and I can't wait till they start in jan.

-----------------

I mean, what is the cost for?

The Ride, the theming, or the expansion?

Or the whole thing?

-Derek

I'm sure if they gave any cost it would be for the whole thing and I'm sure the 'elaborate' part of it has a lot more to do with the theming risk than the actual ride. Like Shaggy said, the $40 million was an assumption many enthusiasts got from hearing the statement made at the TRTR press event and one thing turned to another and everyone thought it cost more than Action Zone. My guess is the theming and buildings cost around 10-15 million and the ride system will cost 5-10 million whatever it is, but that's just a guess without any type of backup. TRTR is something different than the park's tried before and we'll just have to see how it turns out. Maybe their hoping they won't be the 'forgotten' park next year? ;)
Nick,

Nice to know your name. I kept on re-typing TRTR and saying, " Darn, I missed the semi-colon" =:^)

It is good to see people opening up their minds for this attraction. I really do think that a lot of the attraction will take place before you even reach  the 'vehicle of escape' (as they put it) so there should be something for everone.

Matthew,

Nice circle! But I was sure you were going to block me with an X. =:^)

-Sean (X-bound........as soon as possible)

I just want to know how many people here plan to visit PKI in the spring?  Seeing as how I only live 40 minutes from it I know I'll be visiting as many times as I can...!!!  Maybe I should buy a season pass...  Hopefully Tomb Raider the ride will be worth all this anticipation!!!  I'm sure it will!
-----------------
Weelllll, anybody going in the spring?????  Or planning to visit anytime next year?  I'm trying to keep this topic on the coasterbuzz site so I save it to my favorites so I can think of something to say for tommorow.......NIGHT.....
-----------------
Hey, I was just wondering.  Will there be more buildings behind the others we sall?  If the quee line is going to be just as good as the ride itself, maybe that big building COULD be another part of the quee.  I'm probably WAY wrong but I was just thinking to myself and that just popped into my head......  Does anyone else think there will be more buildings?
-----------------
AS the topic says,,,,,, Hey PKI fans, let's talk about Tomb Raider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-----------------

COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!  Answere my questions, say something, do anything!!!!!
-----------------
When is the set day for PKI to open?  My birthday is pretty close I think....
-----------------
What do I think of Tomb Raider?

I really don't know what kind of ride it is, really.

Yeah I look forward to ride the Tomb Raider: The Ride, it's just that we have never seen the exact ride before and I think it's gonna be a very exciting ride whatever it is, I think the ride will awe a lot of people out there.

Tim, you are probably right about the queue line will be as good as the ride. I read in the Cincinnati Enquirer article that the ride will have as much research as the ride and what will happen in the queue line is the excitement begins with a journey into a foreboding ancient temple. As stone give away way to others, guests will proceed through mysterious chambers, engraved with strange, runic symbols and the debris of failed expeditions, as a sense of impending doom grows.

Being in the queue line will be very interesting and also exciting.

The most interesting rumor is that... the ride may have track, but it is not a coaster.

-Derek

Yeah, I can agree with you there Derek.  The queue will be just as good or even better than the ride.  PLUS, I'm sure the line will be air-conditioned so I'm sure it will get extra attention on those hot summer days!!!!  I know I won't mind waiting in line......  Hey, that's another thing I thought of.  Seeing as how the line will be so exciting and thrilling, nobody will really know there actually waiting in line.  I know those TV's in FOF help pass the time!!!

-----------------

Ok, TR:TR2002 hold off on the post's. You have like 6 post's in a row, couldn't you have just made them 1 post? I know your excited about TR:TR, and I am too, and I also am excited to see what the ride will be like.

Divorced From Dependence since 1987!
Nick,

The actual line will be entertaining IMO. I am sure they will be the typical back and forth zig-zags, but when you get near the ride, you will be taken in groups  for the 'adventure'.  The park has even commented that they may ban all food and drinks while in line to preserve it better.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

As far as more buildings being built, I am not sure.  I think the smaller buildings that are there now are part of the adventure when you get split up. From the look of it on closing day, the framework, and most of the walls, were already built.

-Sean

My $0.02:

I think Tomb Raider: The Ride will most likely be a Top Spin-esque (possibly a new twist on an existing design) themed to a "Time Storm"... if you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about.

The guy or girl with the screen name (.)  I could but then the general buzz about Tomb Raider the ride would have vanished and NOBODY would have talked,,,,,,, I was trying to keep it on the site for more people to give there suggestions,,,,, that's why I had 6 comments in a row.  Nobody else was saying anything..........

TR: TR2002,

Oops I thought your name is Tim, sorry. From now on I'll call ya TR: TR2002 or Nick if that's okay w/ you anwyay.

I tell ya, I am a big Kings Island fan I have been going there since I was 8 in 1988 and I wish I could have been there in 1972 that would be cool.

You guys can contiune talk about Tomb Raider or PKI if ya want we could still talk on this board till the ride opens Spring of 2002!

-Derek

Here's a few tid-bits I will share about TR:TR.

The que will be outside the building to the left (opposite side from the Beast entrance.)  You will exit the ride from the very rear of the show building and walk a path exiting next to the Beast's entrance.

The main entrance of TR:TR is covered by earth.  In other words, you will enter "underground."

The midway in front of the attraction is also being overhauled to better fit the theming.

There will be a souvenier or TR:TR merchandise shop very close by.

The ques outside will have themeing elements to gear riders for the overall experience.

Apparently, there are different passages once inside, and moving panels and doors that close behind you.

The Tomb Raider soundtrack will be playing loudly throughout the line and attraction.

Expect lots of new foliage and landscaping just outside the ride's first building entrance.

The overall feel is supposed to be reminiscent of someone stumbling upon a cave.  Hence the "underground" entrance and thick foliage.

Rumor has it that gas lines were run to the building.  That could mean fire effects.  Water lines were run, of course, so water effects are a given.

As Sean has said, PKI is instituting a no food or beverage in line rule this year.  That is to protect the dramatic themeing elements that TR:TR will have.  Once inside giudes and ride ops will be onhand to make sure no scenery or structure is being harmed by guests.

TR:TR is not the only ride in the park receiving the new "No food or beverage" line policy.  Look for FOF, SOB, Phantom Theatre and others to adopt the same policy.

A.K.A. John K.

I'm really amazed at everybodies enthusiasm about TR:TR.  I got extremly tired of everyone saying how "GUESS WHAT EVERYBODY, TR:TR is going to be a giant top spin in a box with great fire and ice effects"  I mean, I know how people like to assume that there right and all but come on, everyone knows It's going to be a totally new attraction that nobody on earth has E V E R seen before.  That means TR:TR will not be a top spin or any other flat ride, simulator, coaster or anthing you can find at a fair or amusment park.........  Now maybe TR:TR could be somthing that has to do with a flat ride, simulator or coaster, but it won't be just a plain flat ride, simulator, or coaster.  Anyway, I am just very pleased at all of the positive energy everone is giving in this topic!!!!!!  As for all the people who think it will still be a coaster or flat ride, as sean or shaggy said "think outside of the box."  Oh yeah, when is everyone planning to visit pki in 2002.  Shaggy I do have one question for you, where did you get all of that information or is it just a rumor........WELL for the person with the (.) as a there name i tried to fit this all into one comment so i trrrrruuullly hope your happy,,,,,  Oh Yeah before I go does the person on aol who has the screenname  "18BertNErnie" have anything to say?

Life is to short to waste.......... GO TO KINGS ISLAND!!!!!
