Hey PKI fans, let's talk about Tomb Raider

http://www.hussrides.com" target=_blank>www.hussrides.com ) then compare those to the specs of the building for tomb raider....ironicly they seem to fit together quite nicely.  Since this ride is a GIANT top spin and not a top spin it's the first of it's kind in the world.  Look at the theming possibilities for a normal top spin...one of them includes a ride themed as a burining house being put out by fire fighters (fire coming out of vehicle and water shooting twords it) Now i'm sure this fire and water effect thing could easily be put on one of the bigger top spins...and voila....TR:TR (Probably with a heavily themed queue also).  Oh...and does it seem the slightest bit coincidental that huss announced their giant rides the year that paramount's canada's wonderland announced that they are  getting one of them?(a park who is owned by the company that owns pki and happens to be putting in similar rides at thier parks this year)...seems quite ironic. Oh, and one last thing...again at the huss website check out the what's new section and you'll see an article talking about new theming possibilities...and how they are trying to have many different THEMES to fit different parks...like pki.  Even more irony.

Army Rangers lead the way

I don't know what TR:TR is and I don't think any of us will truly know what it will be either until every single person rides this thing in the upcoming season of 2002 at pki!

Just because something may resemble something else that is currently out there doesn't mean it can't be a World's first.

I dont know if anyone thought of this but could it be like a moving ride? and it goes through like sections with fire and people trying to get you?

Hey, I know I've asked this question before, but does anyone know what is beyond the doors in this picture.  I mean, what is that big statue that is holding that big picture or whatever of Lara Croft.  I know I sound a little stupid but this picture still leaves me a bit confused.

-----------------

To be honest with you, I dont think that is a picture.  I think it will be a video/moving image of her basically giving a pre-show to guests.

By studying the pic, it would make sense to me that Angelina Jolie as Laura Croft will basically set up the storyline of the ride unit.  After her instructions/direction, you will then enter the ride unit building through the secret passage.

This is the point in the staging area, where I believe there are two rooms.  Basically a group of guests will be led into one of two staging areas in preperation for the ride by a ride attendant.  As one group boards/rides, the other is shown the pre-show movie.  Just as the first groups ride is done and they are exiting the ride unit, I predict the trap door will open for the next alternate staging area group to enter.

Imagine an "Action Theatre" type pre-show video/movie.  I expect it to be very well produced, probably by paramount sudios and the Director of TR himself as well as utilize Ms. Jolie.  That, IMO, is one of the major costs of this ride....pre-production.

If I had to compare what I predict the pre-ride portion to be like.... I would say very much like the former Questor at BGW.

Very Interesting Shaggy. I always imgained being a preshow from talking to Jeff Seibert but I never in my live time thought much about it. By the way what was Questor like?

Oh and rollergator.........no!!! a Top Spin is a Top Spin. Okay just imagine taking the Vortex and making an exact clone just 10 ft taller. Everything's the same except for speed. Well the spped on this wouldn't even change probably! Just height!

What's the big deal? I don't want the guests at PKI to get "mad" again at the park because they're folish enough to spend millions of dolllars on theming that only is a 1 million dollar ride, for something as big as the parks 30th anniversary! I don't want a Top Spin for the parks sake......I'm not against them in any way.

I am never one to get involved in debates, or rumor spreading, but here is my opinion.  I live in Chicago, and am very excited about this ride.  PKI is always a great park to visit, and I have no doubt this ride will be a great addition, as well.  Basically, if Jeff (Coasterbuzz Jeff) wants to have the first ever Coasterbuzz Club Convention at PKI in the spring, it must be something unique and revolutionary.  Jeff usually knows what's really up, and has the common courtesy not to go around blabbing about it.

But, after watching that FauxFire video, I can see that getting very creatively used on the ride.  Could you imagine what an effect it would be if the ride vehicle went completely through a wall of flames like that!  That would be amazing, IMO.

Charlie,

Just a quick question. Where did you get the $1, 000, 000 from?

As for the park being "foolish" enough to spend that kind of money on something like themeing and a ride........once again, those people that are going to be "mad" at the park for their latest creation are not realizing what goes into an attraction like this. They have researched this for a looooooong time and found that it would be a great time to install something like Tomb Raider.

Those that are going to be upset with the park seem to be wishing for something instead of taking a step back, looking for the positive aspects of such a attraction, and going into the whole thing with an open mind. If people still get upset with the park about something that minor, then they can always stop going to the park IMO.

I have never understood the whole " If this park doesn't get this........then I am going to be ticked" way of thinking. It simply baffles me to this day.

Sean, I don't think he wants the park to get anything specific that he necessarily wants himself or for himself, but I think he's saying that a top spin would be disappointing to most people being hyped up by TRTR. I believe he simply would rather have a different type of ride system than a top spin, because he thinks it will be better for park attendance and guests. I don't think he's just spoiled and wants something different because this isn't his idea of fun or anything. I kind of agree that I would want a ride unit that would be best for the park and have a great capacity and fun factor, etc., but if they research says that a top spin type ride is the best, then it is the best(that it if it is something like this). Maybe he can clarify himself if this is correct, but hopefully I have the right idea.
A while back I heard someone say that when in the queue line we will go underground or even underneath the ride itself when waiting in line.  I can see the cave entrance to the ride, all I want to know is.....Will we be waiting underground?

SORRY to bother all of you again but I was just wondering....  Could this picture possibly be a photo of the exit ramp?  I just thought one of you might be interested or something.  Anyway I just wondered if it was the exit platform.  Probably not, but oh well, worth a shot.:)

-----------------

The ride's entrance is the cave entrance and yes, we will enter underground and wait in line from the entrance.

-Derek

That looks more like an employee way to me as the exits for guests at PKI usually don't have stairs and are usually flat to be more accessible to disabled guests, etc.
-----------------
Danny
The pic is showing the stairs that stand on the left side of the show building.

As for the exit, we will exit the ride unit building and walk on a path from the very rear of the show building so it is unlikely that we will exit on stairs.

-Derek

Yeah KoasterKing, I agree with you now, the disabled would have a bit of trouble getting down those stairs!  I wonder where the real exit will be.  Oh well, not that that really matters now.  Guess I'll have to wait till spring of 2002 to find out!
-----------------
Who else will be joining me at the media day for this awesome ride?

-Aaron

I might CoasterAaron. We'll have to see if everything goes as plans. For right now, it's a yes!
