Did you get e-mail from ThrillNetwork?

Exactly. It isn't a punishible if you do it before the law is passed.

Welcome Raptorgeist and Coasterphil to a forum where people might actually read what you post--even if only to poke fun at you.

But do yourself a favor and never, ever call yourself a TN editor again here. It means less than nothing. The kids who wear paper crowns at Burger King have a more legitimate claim to royal heirarchy. I'm a more legitimate freakin' make-believe superhero.

But why should I sling insults? I've got worse--much, much worse. You see, Cap'n Obvious' most deadly weapon is called the ugly freakin' truth. Lemme fire a warning shot and see if you want more.

This just in from the Brutally Ugly Fact File: The following websites are far more popular than SwillNetwork...

www.createafart.com

www.farts.com

www.poopreport.com

www.smellypoop.com

www.bumfart.com

Does this surprise anyone? Perhaps. But consider this...Between half to two-thirds of the websites tracked by Alexa on flatulence are also more popular than SwillNetwork. See for yourself.

That means there's CoasterBuzz, there's truly crappy websites and then there's your swill.

This means when I claim I squat on the porcelain and drop payloads far more interesting than the stuff on SwillNetwork, you can only wish I was joking. I HAVE PROOF.

Legal or not, there are rules that certain ISPs, etc. have against this kind of thing, and if it is against a rule they have and that rule is broken, then you face the consequences. Ignorance is not an excuse to break a rule/law. Just because you didn't know you were doing something wrong dosen't make doing that and getting cough make you any less responsible. Like was said, you can't use the excuse that since you've never done it before, that you shouldn't get into trouble the first time you do. I actually don't care about getting the email, as I've stated before, I'm pissed that they took the time to harvest it, and wonder what this guy will do with the list he has(or has already done with the list he has). I just plopped down twenty bones to CBuzz cause I trust the content, and the webmaster to a certain extent because he has a good reputation. Just because he's never done anything wrong with the site and the information people have given him dosen't mean he'll never do it, but he has more of an incintive not to(not that I think you ever would, jeff, but it's an example I wanted to use). If someone else is taking priviledged info(even if it is public, it's privlideged), and using it for other purposes, that is not morally or ethically right, and thus just because it isn't against the law, dosen't mean it shouldn't be done. There are lots of things that aren't illegal, but aren't ethical or morally right...

I've never seen ThrillNetwork bash CoasterBuzz. I've even seen cases where the admins have defended CB.

Regardless of what happened you are just being rude. Not everyone is at the top. Not everyone is doing it for money. ThrillNetwork doesn't even have a payment plan thingy, they pay it out of love for coasters.

COASTERS!!

STOP THE HATE! LOVE THE COASTERS!

If Jeff is still coherent enough to type, I'd imagine that he'll be here shortly to assure that he doesn't do this for the money.

I mean, hey, didn't he just say that he drives a camry? There's no bling-bling there, folks. ;)

You, as the lone official representative of PillNetwork (Hey, we need some variety in here. I'm sorry I'm not as creative as 'Playa) really need to be doing one of two things:

a) telling us why you have our e-mail addresses in the first place

b) removing your foot from your mouth and then closing it (the mouth, not the foot)

Just saw CPlaya's post, and while a bit smelly;), it's true. If you don't like what the forum folk here have to say, leave. If I had such a problem(and I've been rightfully the brunt of some of Playa's ugly freakin' truth, so I do know it's power) with that on here, I'd have left along time ago. I like this fourm, and don't plan on going anywhere. The sight's shortcomings aside, someone did something wrong, and tried to cover it over as a mistake. Now everyone wants to know why we're all mad, and the appologizing and excuse making is just making it worse. Admitting one is wrong is better than an appology sometimes.

Sorry for the double post, both were kind of long, and I didn't think just editing to make the other one longer would help:)

Well, CoastaPlaya, once again your pathetic wit fails to make me laugh. Fart sites are popular because every 8 year old with their parent's computer is going to look them up. But hey, at least those sites are funnier than you, and they're probably more mature - you're a grown man who gets his kicks by attempting to offend other coaster websites. I'm sure you live a WONDERFUL, exciting life! <Sarcasm>

Honestly, we really don't care what any of you think of our site, and your namecalling doesn't offend us. End the childish name-calling and get off your "CoasterBuzz Rules ALL!!" power trip - notice, I haven't said anything bad about CoasterBuzz - only good stuff. I'm not that low to make fun of the site. (I bet one of you is gonna reply and say "thats because its PERFECT and theres nothing to make fun of! - you guys are predictable)

ApolloAndy - Once again, I'd be happy to answer why we have the email addresses - but I don't know, so I can't. If this is really bugging you guys, contact Alex or something.

How about you, as the sole representative of TN here, who is a part of the site/ organization itself, get your act together, and get some answers. If you had any concern about the reputation of the site (which has not yet fallen victim to any such "CB rules all" mentality that I've seen) you would be working your butt off trying to get the organization working correctly.

Sometimes the middle man must stand up.

This is a breech of the rules of your ISP, not to mention basic courtesty, and that at least should speed up your response.

Again, sending the emails may have been a mistake, but having the email addresses wasn't, and I personally, though I did not get an email, would like to know why.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit, that for the longest time, my favorite coaster site was Coaster-net. It's now at number 4 on my favs list, right behind ARN&R. CBuzz is number 2, right behind RCDB, and I've payed money to CBuzz. I don't think the buzz is the end all coaster site. There are things I like, and things I go elsewhere for, but I keep coming back here because Jeff does do a good job, and I like the disfunctional family feel of the site, we all play decently with each other, except those few trolls no one likes. So your post, though a lame attempt at sarcasm, does nothing for your cause. You're coming on another site telling people what they can't do, and trust me, I've learned that it's not a good idea to tell people on here what to do, esp. the regulars. If CPlaya wants to be rude, and gets his kicks from it, then that's his perogative, and some of us think he is funny, which is more important anyhow.

Raptorgeist: We? You and whose army? Is there a pet in your pocket? Oh, that's right--you represent allllllllll of SwillNetwork. Whoa.

The fact that CoasterBuzz is #1 is besides the point. The fact that Da Swill is dead last speaks for itself. Who could take an introduction into the world of interactive forums from the well-read, widely respected, heavily trafficked site of Robert Coker and manage to plow it straight into the ground?

Quit grabbing onto to coattails of successful sites like some pathetic, bawling little baby with your sad little spamletters. Take responsibility for your own obvious and glaring failure to retain users. Then and only then will you be able to remedy the downward spiral Alexa points out--plain as day--and figure out 'What has happened to SwillNetwork?'

So much drama. Hahaha. Even though I am more of an active member at TN, and I have very few posts here, CoasterBuzz is the obvious superior site. I know that TN sucks, and the site is all broken and crap.

TN did send the mail accidentally, but then again why did they have everyone's e-mail in the first place? Oh yeah, to spam. Sucks to be Alex or whoever sent the newsletter, the little blunder is causing such a ruckus.

As someone who belonged to both groups at one point, I will ask without any sarcasm the question that appears to be the one that the CBers are asking the most. The question has to do with the reason why the emails were harvested in the first place. I myself had signed up for them at one point, so it was nothing new for me to get one. However, there are many people who had never requested the message. Since I am sure that most people get as much spam as me in a day (20+ messages), they are sick and tired of it. However, it is a rare instance when the message can be traced as well as this one. Unfortunately, since people are beginning to reach the breaking point on the unwanted mail, they are beginning to lash back the only way that spammers understand, and that is by alerting the ISP about it. Perhaps it was an honest accident, since everyone makes mistakes (so why can't you....if anybody else knows that Sesame Street song, sing along). But the mistake is not the point that is being questioned. The question remains why were the addresses collected in the first place. You may or may not be the person who has the answer to this; if you aren't, I'm sure that the members of this board wouldn't mind if that person signed up so that all their questions can be answered. Otherwise, it almost seems as if ThrillNetwork has no good reasoning, or is trying to hide something.

Edit: And to CPRider - never seen ThrillNetwork bash CoasterBuzz? Apparently you've never seen this link

http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/showthread.php?s=f7022bb874ee53074e3f6373b1e02a79&threadid=22771&highlight=coasterbuzz

I would accept you saying that it rarely happens, and that the site is defended, as links to many of the threads would show. Saying that it never happens though is as much a lie as saying that everyone at TN is 14 and wets the bed. It is an incorrect statement that can be proven otherwise.

Just for the record, I got some spam today. One was titled "Free Mortgage Quote" Why the hell am I getting that since I live in an apartment?? I have gotten 4 such emails saying the same thing...

I'm getting some kind of Golfing newsletter I KNOW I didn't sign up for, and the same idiot sending me that is telling me how to finance a Mercedes-Benz C-Class for less when I already bought a car 6 months ago! And I get this all the time! It is clogging up my precious emailbox!

TN editor means nothing...Hmmm. Some would say calling yourself an enthusiast means less then nothing. That does bring up a good point...Both sites share one thing in common...ya'll are Enthusiast.

So I guess everyone's less then nothing...:)

Let's all say it together in unison so we can stop wasting bandwidth on everyone's posts:

Ready? 1...2...3....
"Why do you have our addresses?"

Now we can stop posting "Me too"s.

E-beg? That's a new one. ;) SOB_TOM, I don't think its the fact that we all got the e-mail, but more how we got the e-mail. They took advantage of this site and violated their server's (whoever it may be) TOS. Therefore, we need to do what we can to rid the wretched site known as ThrillNetwork from our lives. :) Have a nice day all...

According to that statement, you can sue almost all junk mail servers. Thats basically how they get your E-mails.

Edit: This is stupid. You people are so wrapped up in making fun of other sites that you are sounding like those 8 year old kids. `Playa, while I had a lot of respect for you when I was here about 6 months ago, you have about killed all of it. Whoop-De-****, they accidentally sent the wrong list the E-mails. Get over it. Theres no reason at all that you should be making fun of anyone for a honest mistake. At least he owned up to the mistake instead of ignoring it. Once again, this site has baffled me. We are all supposed to be connected by 2 rails, but one mistake and this site is ready to go to war. Now I realise why I left in the first place.

Oh and Jeff, this is the reason I will NEVER pay for this site. Ban me if you wish. I will come back when people grow up and act like enthusiast instead of children.
