Did you get e-mail from ThrillNetwork?

CPMark: If CBuzzers are so closed-minded, why bother posting where no one will listen? Does that make sense?

TN actively spams hundreds of people and you think the CBuzzers are blowing this out of proportion?

I guess "bias" is not a well known term.

So...you're comparing the 100s of people spammed to the million spammed with needless ways to lose weight.

I see the argument now. If you all feel so angry about this, go to your email provider and enable the strictest filter you can. And if you can't, then I guess that's your problem.

I think the loud and clear message to the SwillSpammers is that they and their sad little newsletters are unwelcome. Deal with it.
Its not the fact that I got an email from them, I get tons of spam everyday in my hotmail account. The only reason I keep it is because I've had it for years, and all my friends know it. It's the principle of it that bothers me. One-They harvested addresses from this site because they are attention whores, and since I'm an attention whore, they're taking attention away from me, so they must be stopped(that was sarcasm, btw). Sending an email to people on here to get them to check out there site is IMHO rude. Why not one of them sign up here and put the link in their sig? I've visited others sites cause of that.

Two-They lied about how they sent it out. I know that it is a lie because before I joined coasterbuzz, the only site I ever visited was Coaster-Net, and that was becuase at that time, I was just looking for RCT stuff. The sites they mentioned that they got the origional email addresses from were sites I'd never been on, nor registered for, so that was a lie.

Three-I Feel that their "apology" letter was done hasitly because they now know they've pissed some people off.

So not being open minded is not the issue here, its that I don't need more spam, and these kids are pulling some crap to get my address. At least with CPO, they come on here and ask for support instead of getting your address and sending you unwanted crap(god don't let them get any ideas...), and for that matter, I'd almost rather join them then thrill network.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know if people on other "popular" roller coaster websites recieved an e-mail from TN? i.e. ACN, Westcoaster, etc... ?

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday
A cage match unlike anything ever seen in this state or three neighboring states! Barely legal violence and slander! Stay after the fight for sandwiches and Kool-Aid!

In this corner, the recipient of two bajillion "Lose Weight NOW" e-mails and weighing in at a measley 93 lbs., soaking wet, it's Captain Obvious! Watch it, though, folks, 'cause he's fast on his feet and quick with his tongue.

In this corner, weighing in at a combined 190 lbs. , it's those crazy lunch-meat loving, revisionist, finger-pointing farmers from Tennessee! Or, maybe, ThrillNetwork.

Betting opens at 5 p.m., EST (which may be 4 or 6 p.m., honestly, because I don't know if we're in Daylight Savings Time now or which direction it goes.)

Excellent work young grasshoppa! Two small problems...

- You forgot to mention the opponents' collective number of teeth. This is a requirement of any and all backwoods jokes. Yellowed stumps and substitutes of varied content all count.

- You're getting your black folks mixed up. 2Hostyl's the anorexic black guy here. Back to the African-American Flash cards for you!

I shall now go meditate on what I have learned.

Those of you who signed up today really don't get it. I could care less if SwillNetwork (used by Playa's permission) lives or dies. All of the "small" regional sites that regularly contribute news items here get more traffic. See Alexa.com and compare the numbers. TN is about as significant as Marsha Clark in fishnets. Coming here to complain about it is also as effective as complaining about CoasterBuzz on RRC. Nobody here cares.

The problem here is two-fold:

1) For a change, we actually know who the spammer is.
2) The spammer admits to e-mail harvesting. That's not a mistake. That's not a screw-up. That's a deliberate action.

Some jerk sent me e-mail today going on and on about how I'm an egomaniac blah blah blah and I want to shut down "competition" blah blah blah. Right. That's me. My primary concern right now is getting drunk and celebrating this weekend. A long list of things follow, the last of which is whether or not I care that TN lives or dies.

If you spam me, and I know who you are, I will do my best to make sure you're punished for it. If you spam me as a result of stealing e-mail addresses from my site, then naturally it's in my best interest to look after the people who visit my site.

I also find it sad that this Westerman character publishes my e-mail to him in his moderator forum but won't write me back. That's top notch.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

And the little Geocities sites that get slashdotted get more hits in 2 minutes then you get in a week.

Just because people visit them (because of a news post or some-such) more then another site doesn't mean they have more regular members to form a community.

Odds are you wont end up punishing them at all. If the host could care less there isn't much you can do from there. The datacenter where the host is might care if they spamed people multiple times, but as this was a one time mistake you wont see it go very far. And with no damages to report you would never get a lawsuit.

Oh and BTW, Member since 2001 of GTTP: http://www.guidetothepoint.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=info&PeopleID=3652 I just never felt the need to squish stupidity here before.

You obviously don't know very much about how much traffic this site gets. What's your point?

By the way, John... Intellispace has a funny way of seeing things. Sure looks to me that the spammers use their services.

And what stupidity do you think you're squishing? The fact that a bunch of people got spam, and for once know the identity of the spammer? The only stupidity there lies in the sender, not the upset receivers.

It wasn't a mistake....I, along with others here, never signed up for TN. What they did was really slimy. The folks who did it need to be squished in the name of stupidity.

CedarPoint_Mark, I am loving your avatar over on SwillNetwork ('Playa's ™). You didn't perchance get that picture off of this lousy site did you?

--Ryan

Nice logic...so you think that since we already receive so much junk mail, a little more won't hurt anything? We should not have to "strengthen" our spam filters. Swillnetwork should not have HARVESTED our email addresses to begin with. Had they not taken that action, this issue would not exist.

How is it our fault again?

(btw, nice catch Ryan)

And now a one-click lesson in reality...

This is CoasterBuzz, #1 in its category.

This is SwillNetwork, at the bottom of page #5. Did anyone notice there were only five pages to this list? Whoopsie.

This is CoasterBuzz traffic, moving right along there.

This is SwillNetwork's...or is it? Looks like Alexa doesn't chart the insignificant small fry.

Wanna see some GeoCities sites that outgun Da Swill? Here ya go. Just look for the word 'Crazy' as in Coaster Crazy and Crazy Coasters. Sure there are more...but the point is, Crazy people using Geocities get mo' love than a certain bunch of spam-happy champs.

I'm sorry--was somebody saying penile enhancement was necessary? I guess we know who needs it, don't we?

Well, I got the newsletter, and I did register there a long, long time ago. I have so many different email addresses that I can't keep track of which one I use for what. Personally, the spam itself isn't as big of an issues as the address harvesting. That alone is cold-blooded and intentional.

On an unrelated note, I've seen a couple people bring Thrillride and Rideworld into this mess. The current incarnation of Thrillride and it's partner site, Rideworld, have absolutely no connection to Thrillnetwork.
