DDR bug has hit hard

Yikes... AM-3P is a pain in standard. I'm not even ready to think about it in Heavy.

Truth be told, I have no problem with my soft pads. Heck, I can beat most standard doubles no problem on them. Even better, I've been beating on them since October. I've yet to attribute any failure, or even weak finishes, to the pads. They don't slide for me, and I can feel my foot placement by the plastic inserts and, since they don't slide, my orientation in the room. I'm weird like that.

This is actually my son's game. I just happened to get hooked on it over the summer. We also are happy with the thicker foam filled pads we got from cyphergames. We have berber in the family room, and the pads "travel" a little when playing the faster heavies, but not enough to make it a pain or to warrant the expense of two metal pads.

I don't expect to be a fantastic player. I'll leave that to you youngsters. I play primarily because it's the most FUN aerobic exercise I've found, and it works! I now have thighs and buns of steel! The fact that I am improving my playing all the time makes it even more fun to keep at it.

For those of you wanting info on the Magic Mountian Game Center (Columbus - Brice Rd.) tourney, go to ohioddr.com or bemanistyle.com and look in their tourney forums. The info is listed there as well.

I wish I could go myself, but I'll be working.

I've been lucky to AAA 6 songs, all on light though. Both Candy's, Yozuko, Spin The Disc, Tsugaru, and Matsuri Japan. I have yet to do any on Extreme, but I've mostly been playing Standard songs, which I can AA about 1/2 of them. I don't even try Heavy, too much work. :)

I'm one of the best of the best and I"m on 13. I'v been playin umm... for a while. I can beat any thing! I got some tricks I've been workin on too. I really good.
Of all of you who like to play DDR and it's many versions, what is / are your favorite mix / mixes?

4th Plus and Max 2 are mine for more than one reason each.

For all of you (I'd imagine close to none) who live in the Los Angeles area and are familiar with the West Covina mall, TILT will be getting another mix. Hopefully Max 2 again, or Ex (Would be nice). Expect a tournament when the game arrives.

Anyhow, DDR as many before me have stated, can and will make a fool out of those who don't seem to be coordinated. Bad thing? Not in the least.

When I first started about 3 years ago, I didn't know what step was what, where, and when. Now, doubles are my best friend. 27 pounds lighter, a lot more stamina, and my friends / challengers are what keep me going.

Ex 2 - A dream or a reality in the making? Thoughts?

Hey Niko. I almost went to TILT last night! but i went to Nickel Nickel instead. Maybe i'll look into entering this tournament, or at least attending. My favorite mix has gotta be EX then MAX2 followed by 4th plus.

as far as EX 2? who knows...it'd be great if they had a mix that would include each and evey song. *still misses Wonderland*

Hey everyone...Today was opening day at SFOG and I was happy to see a new MAX2 machine at the park. Best of all, it's only 50 cents (although the sticker says 4 tokens). The workers there even gave me a couple of free games because they thought I was awesome, even though I'm not THAT good. I even got on the Oni high score list with a 19%! ;)

The mixes I have played include USA, 1st, 3rd Korean, 4th plus, 6th, 7th and 8th. 8th is definitely my favorite, though I learned on 6th. USA is the worst by a mile.

FYI to Columbus players: I went to Putt-Putt on the east side yesterday, and their 6th mix was broken down... but it had a sign that said "Extreme coming soon." So that'd be three Extremes in Central Ohio... if it happens.

Right now I've got all A's on all of the 3 footers except for one (i've beat the tree footers in standard and heavy). I've also got and double A's on the 1 and 2 footers. The only mix i played is 7th and ddrmax, which are the same thing and so those are my favorite.

Any of you like Step Step Revolution? 3rd Mix had that, and it's Korean counterpart. Wonderland for SSR is my favorite. *Smiles*
Has anyone figured out a solution to the PS2 memory corrupted problem? Cause I just got screwed by it - not that I'm really good enough to have lost any major accomplishments, but I had opened a lot of songs.

Niko - isn't SSR a level harder than maniac.... or is it an early form of Oni Mode? I never quite got that.

PittDesigner - My memory card corrupted back on page 10 or so of this thread ;), and since then I have practiced "safe saving." I do not touch any buttons on the console while the memory card is in the slot. This seems to have worked so far...

Unrelated story to no one in particular - On Saturday, I was playing Extreme nonstop random and got Trip Machine Luv Mix and two Paranoias in a row...

Niko - Yeah i've played SSR on 3rd, and yes wonderland is my favorite as well ^_^ *loves freestyling on Wonderland heavy* I wish they added wonderland to more mixes tho. Extreme would be PERFECT if that song was added.

Den - Nice job *thumbs up* which paranoia songs?

Kel - not so fast - I failed it. They were KCET and Dirty Mix... lost it about 10 seconds from the end of the latter.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

Den - It would probably be considered both. The difficulty of SSR songs was equivalent to hard on later versions. For example, my favorite - Wonderland - it's difficulty on SSR was about the same as it was on hard for 4th and 4th Plus. Basically, it brought harder leveled songs earlier in the series.

As for it also being an early form of Oni mode? I guess so. I've never played Oni myself, but I've seen people do it. It looks similar to that in essence that there is a standard set of arrows instead of timed beats.

DDR = crowd pleaser. *Grins* You play at Knott's or Magic Mountain and you'll know what I mean.

Absolutely Niko...the crowds at Knott's are big. Especially when you're on the 3rd mix by that food court thingy, a little ways away from Hammerhead. As for MM, they need to upgrade their sorry USA mix so badly it isn't funny...>_>

SSR mode is basically maniac, the only thing that's different is that all the arrows are on flat. In other words, they're all the same color, including the 8th and 16th notes.

I hope PKI and CP have upgraded their machines for 2003. Both had DDR USA last year, which is almost unplayable. Of course I never played them anyway, because I haven't been to any parks since I started playing a lot.

The songs are pretty terrible, and the idea of making things more difficult at the time was to make you jump as much as possible. I hate that!

I don't think the home version is the same as the arcade version. The arcade version has maybe 20 songs on it, and to select trick or maniac levels, you have to enter special codes on the dance pad.
