Chitown said, in another thread:
Agreed, while Jeff has brought DDR into the coaster world , we dont need multiple topics on it.
Well if you want to get technical, Jeff really wasn't the pioneer of coaster enthusiast/DDR relations. We wackos have been playing and talking about it for years. He was, however, the pioneer of the Coasterbuzz/DDR link. Although there were two or three threads on GTTP about it before he got into it....

Oh yeah, and the thread was about the Skechers DDR commercial. It really is a trip.
John, shut up ;)
Natalie, if I wasn't the king of three steps I would take you on myself.

You know what I meant Natalie. :)
How long has this DDR thing been going on? Just curious because some arcades in the Chicago area are starting to remove the Dance machines.
I know I have seen these machines for at least a year with tournaments going on. Now, it seems to have fizzled. Is it just starting to catch on in other areas of the country?

Chitown - it has been going on for quite a few years - just the fact that the 8th version of the game is about to be released is proof of that.
I think it's a much bigger deal on the west coast. If you look at DDRfreak.com, you'll see that Ohio has 30 machines (a relatively respectable number). But California has almost 400 machines. And I've heard stories of arcades setting up queues and making people sign waiting lists to play.
Where I play, there's almost always at least one or two people who are really good playing. But I never have to wait more than 2 games to get my turn.

This "slow addiction" started long before this thread did, too. I started playing DDR over the summer after I read about it in some TRs on this site. Although it took me several tries to work up enough courage to play. And when I finally did play, I selected a 6- or 7-foot song by mistake and all I could do was stand there and watch.
Later, I tried again in an abandoned location, and that's when the addiction took hold.
I think that *a lot* more people out there want to play, but don't because of their pride. I know two people who both *refuse* to even *attempt* it, even at my house, even during a party where every other person there tried it. Dorks.

I struggled through some 2 and 3-step songs on the ghetto machine at CP, and less than a week later ended up with my very own Playstation 2. Obviously it has gone out of control since then.

Then over this summer, I tryed playing on the CP machine (and failed...). I gave up then, but all the Buzz' about DDR here got me interested again.
...and here I am saving up to buy a PS2, MAX, and a pad....

Actually, I wasn't one of Kara's victims. Josh actually got me into it earleir in the summer. So I guess the both of them are responsible.

Yes Virginia, I am Santa Claus!
I AM WITTY!
Something just occurred to me; could someone with a PS2 help me out?
If I get a PS2, will my PSone memory card (with all my Konamix unlocked songs, saved games, etc.) work in it? If not, will a new PS2 memory card save Konamix games when I play it on the PS2?
Thanks. The first person to answer my question gets to be the 500th poster. ;)
