"I think i'm going to have to try DDR."....famous last words, lol. At least now you have the benefit of THEIR experience.....;)
I played 7th Mix for the first time yesterday, and I thought 3rd Mix was crazy...Yesterday was the first time I got comfortable not standing on the center square. Of course this is after falling off to the side during one of the breaks in a song. It scares me watching kids half my age just annihilate songs in the 180bmm range. Then we went to watch a guy play "Pump It Up Premier" at another arcade, and he was destroying playing all 10 pads! And, he wasn't white or Asian!

I played DDRMAX2 in the arcade today for 4 hours... new record for stamina for me. ;) But my legs are *throbbing*. Anyway, saw some dude get a full combo on an Oni course. That's six straight songs. He ended up with an 1100 combo. He also got a B on Maxx 300 and Maxx Unlimited, both on Heavy (maniac). Insane.

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

I played the game again today and decided to scroll down from the green song list to the blue song list, in the beginner mode of course. Maybe I'm just slow but I found some of those songs very difficult and I was wondering if the further down the list you go the more difficult the songs become. I was amazed at how badly I was doing compared to some of the other songs that I have pretty much accomplished.

Any ideas? It could be I just need more practice.

Ya know...if you'd all simply just go out to a club you can dance to the beat all you want and it'll cost you virtually nothing!

Moosh, proud to be DDR-free.

But you'd have to be over 21 in most cases. Same logic applies to your basement and it isn't fun. Plus they play repetitive trance crap in clubs. J-pop is more fun to dance to.

See, at the clubs, when I dance it's just enough exercise to counter the drinks I need to get me on the dance floor in the first place :p

DDR is just exercise.

I know quite a few people, including myself, that don't consider DDR dancing. Plus, I dislike clubs very much.

I can't think of any real-life dance that requires any DDR-style jumping short of the 'Bunny Hop.'

The bunny hop. DUH! ;)

Club dancing has no goal (except for maybe getting someone's phone number). There is no challenge. And DDR is *not* dancing. Those folks who try to make it look like dancing only play on the easiest levels, and they fill in the big arrow gaps with stupid moves they *should* be using on the dance floor.

I'll stick to trying to step on the right arrows at the right time. No different to me than trying to step on the spider button when it lights up or to smack the alligator with the mallet (I was quite enamored with that game for a while, believe it or not).

You see, if DDR was like real dancing, I would absolutely hate the game. For me its like rhythmic stomping : ) I can't dance to save my life and I wouldn't enjoy the game as much if it resembled "real" dancing. Watch some really fast players kill this game some time, it doesn't look like dancing. More like throwing their legs around real fast.

I get drunk at clubs, so between the drinks and the cover, DDR is a far less expensive endeavour.

This didn't need a new thread, but Joe posted this:

Since so many Buzzers are DDR fans, you might want to check this out if you can't get to a machine. http://www.xqsite.com/indexwrap.html

One thing I didn't immediately notice is that there are more than four tracks, but you need to click that little arrow that's hard to see below the numbers.

Since I don't have Flash, I can't see it, but can I assume this is DDR for the PC where you use the arrows as your "steps"? My son has been playing that for months as well.
