I just got mine in today, and I second that endorsement. These are a HUGE step up from the cheapo Ebay pads I've been using, and it is well worth the slightly higher cost of those POS pads I've used all along.

I got made fun of Sunday night because of those stupid MadCatz pads. I know I was hitting most notes correctly, but still failed Holic maniac (which I can nearly A at home). I tried to blame the pad but no one believed me. Grr! Next time I'm bringing my own pads to the DDR party!

Lol, They weren't laughing at you they were laughing at the cheapness of their cheapo $20 madcatz pads. Can you almost A it in the arcade? Everyone I know Complains about the arcade being tougher it's just because they don't alternate their feet when they're supposed to. On A lighter note I got a girl's phone number yesterday because I did Orion 78 civilization mix heavy at the mall and got an A.

I get thrown off whenever I try to do anything rythmic (DDR, real dancing, marching band [way back in the day]) and anything else (speak, chew gum, think). I have been able to mumble a sentence or two while doing some trick songs at home though. I also am able to scream profanities at Rob in the arcade while he's harassing me, but that's about it.

Colonel - I can do Holic Maniac in the arcade, but I do believe it is harder to get better grades on the arcade machines. Maybe it's because the home pads I use are just so darn sensitive, and I'm used to merely scraping my foot across the arrow and it registers. Or maybe because I'm not used to wearing shoes while I play. Or maybe it's because I play the same songs over and over at home, but that I try out new songs at the arcade. Or that sometimes the pads are worn out. Who knows??

Has anyone unlocked Candy?

You know the song after you finish the final stage. It is in the credits.

I unlocked Candy, and I don't have the slightest idea how. Steph has been experimenting with doubles, so I'm going to take a stab and wonder if that wasn't it. Either that, or it was a matter of getting AA on enough songs (I revisited lots of songs after erasing my data, most of which are much easier now but I was bored with them so never got higher scores).

My son said that it unlocks after you've played and passed certain songs so many times. Candy was unlocked after I started playing, and I was only doing the lights at the time. I'm not sure I understand it, but I was getting ready to quit one afternoon, and he asked me to continue playing because we were "close to unlocking" a song.

I don't have DDRMAX, but doesn't it unlock a song every time you complete a round of 3 songs? I think there are other ways to unlock, too, such as failing your first maniac, or passing Max 300, I dunno.

Wow guys....I have been DDring for about 3 months now...and am passing almost every trick song and a few maniacs. But until is saw this video, I thought I was good.

This is correct. There are many different ways. I now have them all unlocked, but as Jeff said, I don't know how I did it. The "information" option on the title screen tells infomation (duh) on how you unlocked certain songs but I know I didn't pass a maniac with a AA rating to unlock Max 300 or whatever song as it says

It is impressive, and I don't particually care for free style stuff or doubles.

Songs are released every 5 songs up until a certain point, then it's every 10.

Max 300 is released around the 100th song, Candy is 200, Spin the Disc is 250, and Drop The Bomb Remix is 500. Although you can release the latter two earlier by completeing certain ONI courses.

Max300 with a perfect combo unlocks candy. To get drop the bomb remix pass the hardcore oni or 500 songs.
