CW 2012

I still think CW easily rivals CP for the best park in the world and this addition makes that even more so.

You must not get around that much. lol Here's a quote on the Leviathan site.. “Leviathan will be our 16th coaster and now positions Canada’s Wonderland as one of the top three coaster destinations in the world.” said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice President and General Manager, Canada’s Wonderland.
At first I thought he was saying it's top three for roller coasters but then I realized it's only top three for the amount.... definitely not the quality. I'm still more impressed with parks that only have solid coasters like the busch and sea world parks.

This looks like a great ride. Spectacular. A B&M giga has me very excited. Guess I haven't been jaded yet

Behemoth in 2008 managed to get me to travel to Canada just before the passport requirement. Now with Leviathan I might have to consider getting a passport.

Paint me surprised that theyre using the old trains. I'm excited but also surprised they're following Behemoth with this. There's hope for Carowinds now ;-).

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Both CP and CW have 3 or 4 outstanding coasters and pretty much the same amount of coasters overall. But I feel that CP has several duds and CW only has one (Time bender)

I agree with the VP quote, better put then what I said. I have been to about a dozen parks, so I think I get around. Always trying to add to my park count - the busch and sea world parks are definitely on my wish list.

Millennium Force without seat belts? Yes, please. CW gets another people moving coaster. I think it will be a big hit.

I wonder if this will have the same sense of speed as MF. With a much wider train, I'm not entirely sure how it will feel. However, if this rides more like Nitro and less like Diamondback, I will be pleased.

Warp, Bender...tomato, tomahto.

Seriously, though, CW didn't change Time Warp's moniker, did they?

I'd be interested what coasters at CP you think are "duds". I'll give you DT and MS....so that's two.

Just because something is a moderately thrilling family coaster (ID) does not make it a dud. A dud would be not living up to what it was meant to be.

I think that it looks spectacular. The cost is also why it probably ends when it does.

Assuming that they were restrained to the footprint that they're using... I don't see what else they could have possibly done with the ride. The elements use the land fairly well

edit/
Also, maybe they're restricting height to not burn through wheels like Intamin does?

See I don't even count DT as a dud. Mean Streak on the other hand definetly a huge expensive wooden dud.

As for Leviathan I'm a huge Millennium Force fan, so obviously I am very excited to get on this ride. It will be interesting to see if this will be better than Behemoth as that ride is very close to perfection itself.

I'm sheriff of this here rollercoaster.

I am in disbelief that the company is spending 1/3 of its capital improvement budget, at the detriment of other parks, on what basically is a super-sized version of Behemoth. No tunnels at least? No helixes? Nothing unique to make it stand out against its sister coaster other than being 75' taller??? Come on Dick, you have really lost it.

The general public will love the ride I am sure but the bigger picture for me is once again the incompetence of the current leadership at Cedar Fair. This decision is clearly an indication, especially with all the rumors I am hearing, that something just isn't "right" any more with Dick. There were a multitude of options for the park in regards to award winning coaster designs that could have grabbed the publics attention (super-sized Raptor clone anyone? looping record breaker? flyer?) and this design was the only option they could come up with?

January 3, 2012 can't arrive soon enough.

Behemoth Part II does seem like a wacky decision, though I'm sure the ride will be a success. I'm not going to rush out and get myself a passport for this one though. I guess I was expecting more uniqueness.

If I ride only one coaster in 2012, it will be Verbolten.

Such a jaded bunch. :)

It will be of the top 20 longest coasters in the world (according to RCDB stats) and we're complaining it's too short.

It will also be only the 8th coaster in history to stand more than 300 feet tall.

In addition it will be on of the 10 fastest coasters in the world.

Now I'm not saying those things make it a good ride, but they certainly make it a noteworthy, larger than life, marquee addition to any park.

Maybe it's time to step away from the roller coasters for a while to regain some real-world perspective?

I wish my home CF park (Dorney) got something BRAND new. We get a recycled Demon Drop and now are getting a recycled Vekoma inverted boomerang....

I think Dick should have considered going beyond MF's 310 ft. I mean does he take pride of CP's MF that no other coaster built in a CF park can surpass that magical height of 310? Even I305 had to be ahem 305'. But props to B&M for their first giga!

Sky's the limit.

Well said Lord Gonchar. I for one am really excited about this coaster, and I am hoping all the jaded griping I hear means the lines will be shorter for me! ;) (Yet I doubt it. The general public will eat it up, and that is what really counts for the park...)

Record: Tallest roller coaster in Canada.

Doesn't that currently belong to Behemoth?

I'll say this - it looks like a great ride.

But I'll also reiterate what everyone else has been saying --- it's incredibly redundant. They could have spent half the capital into a mid-sized looping floorless coaster from the same manufacturer (something that would have really added variety to the park's roster of coasters). If the layout had been more Intimidator 305-like, I could see how the ride experience would differ enough to warrant its installation, but it has the same "out-and-back" flavor that Behemoth already has.

But they decided to build Behemoth 2.0

Go figure.

I see it similar to let's say, Magic Mountain building the record-breaking Riddler's Revenge in 1998, only to build a slightly bigger stand-up in 2002.

I see it as similar to building Magnum and Millennium Force, and that turned out to be a pretty smart decision.

What I'm posting may sound weird, but hey, it's Mike.

I've been reading a lot today, here and elsewhere, about Leviathan. I think it looks like it'll be a fun ride. But "leviathan" is not a very common word. So what's been popping into my head EVERYTIME I see the word? A lyric from the 1981 (?) Clash song, "Ivan Meets G.I. Joe"..which I haven't heard in probably 25 years...that contains the word.

Sad, I know...

Are we sure the record Kinzel is bragging about isn't world's longest brake run?

I was thinking Wildebeest and Mammoth, but the same principle applies...
