Exactly what I was thinking, gator. I don't remember Holiday World getting this much flack for adding Mammoth. Heaven forbid there are two similar rides in a park these days. What about all the rides the go around in a circle? Why does no one complain that there are too many of those in a park?

^What ever do we do when Disney World adds yet another Dumbo/Aladdin/Astro-Orbiter? ;)

In the case of Great Adventure, th...nah, never mind. Too easy. Shooting fish in a barrel.

The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

Has this thread really regressed to complaining about what people complain about?

Krause started it.

Yes. And if I complain about your post, then I'm taking it to Inception-like levels of complaint. I'm good like that.

I'm not sure if people are complaining, it just seems weird. Weren't some of you same folks on SFMM for adding Green Lantern to the same park as X2? I seem to remember that Gator... ;)

Something just seems off with the CF decision making is all. That's nothing against the coaster itself, which is a separate issue.

I don't think Gator was complaining. That was Krause.

Not sure why.

Makes perfect sense to me to give one of your most popular parks a high-profile, high capacity attraction that will draw for years to come.

^Of course it does. Same with Holidayworld adding a 2nd, and then 3rd wooden terrain coaster (they still have yet to get a family out and back, and alot of other things they will probably eventually get). Same with adding another water coaster.

I think the problem people are having (including me, sometimes) - is that with all the different types of coasters out there, it does seem a little limited. Of course, we see that clearly - most people don't. Kudos for the park going for a capacity ride. I just think they could have spiced it up with a nice fog filled tunnel at the bottom of the first drop. Maybe a splash down and more tunnels... It does seem a small step above the very plain I-305 area/surrounding/theme.

I wish my home CF park (Dorney) got something BRAND new. We get a recycled Demon Drop and now are getting a recycled Vekoma inverted boomerang....

Be thankful they haven't bought a recycled Flying Turns...

I'll admit to being one of the "complainers" (critics would be my word choice, but I'm picky about such things) since John Knotts was referring to SFMM's Green Lantern. I still think *that* was a very odd choice, since SF now has two vertically-rotating coasters in the entire chain - and put both of them in SoCal.

My "analysis" is more from a business perspective....what I ride, what I like to ride, my personal feelings are removed from my criticisms to the fullest extent possible. I make every effort, and then some, to remove my personal biases from the equation when talking about business decisions. I also try to qualify my statements so that you (the intelligent reader) know when I'm talking about *me* and my thoughts/feelings/opinions, and when I'm talking about parks and chains, and their policies, ride installations, business decisions, etc. It's my way of trying to weasel into your brains and make you think like I do...because all my opinions are "correct". ;)

IMO.

Or Krause. :)

I see it as similar to building Magnum and Millennium Force, and that turned out to be a pretty smart decision.

Exactly! Just imagion how the air time will feel in the back seat of this thing with B&M restraints. MF will bow down to this ride.

If there was no Behemoth people would be losing their minds about this ride right now. It's just confusing. However the layout is very MF ish where as Behemoth is more Magnum ish. The problem is 4 years between and made by the same company. I'm still super pumped!

Splash downs are overrated. Honestly, they're kind of a waste of speed. They look cool, but so does a Shoot the Chutes ride.

What might seem as "complaining" could possibly be people who have lost faith in the decisions Kinzel has been making in recent years. There IS a problem there, yet nobody in a position to question these things will address the "issue" because they don't want to be "Jack Falfased."

If someone asks me my opinion, I personally think this is a bad decision for the times we are in. There are financial rewards still to be drawn from Behemoth and while Wonderland is deserving of consistent capital improvement because of its financial performance, I think this huge investment comes at the wrong time. Eating up 1/3 of the 2012 capital budget on one project in a horrible economy, when there is massive debt to pay down, when there are parks BEGGING for money to do important guest focused infrastructure improvements (let alone introduce new attractions themselves) leaves me agasp. What would be wrong with putting in a higher capacity B&M flyer to replace Timewarp, which then could be moved to a smaller Cedar Fair park where its capacity limitations are more acceptable? In that one example you are tackling two problems which I personally find to be the more sane business response to approaching all this.

Leviathan will be great, there is no doubt. The general public will swarm to it. I am left wondering though if it was the BEST option for these troubled times?

That's half their purpose, to slow the train down. That's why they're all at the end of a ride. They are also very cool visualy.

Right, I get that, but I'd rather have it do something else with its speed, like a couple of bunny hills or even a nice, upward helix. I'm just saying.

Or a flat segment to brake, then drop like Nitro does...

If it's a choice between a longer brake run or the splash down, I'll take the splash down.
