Hey it's in print...and on the internet - it HAS to be correct, right?

You got it. Just like that "site" we were shown the other day that said Gemini is a wooden coaster!

I guss this gives all you CPr's something to look forward to now that the Browns are done.

Haha. Even though I'm a mild Browns fans, I will say that I really wish they would get rid of that Self-Destruct button they seem to use during halftime.

Coach: Alright team, we're up by 17 at the half. Couch, you know what to do.

In reality, what does it really matter? 400, 420.....who cares. Thats barely a difference. I guess it does matter if all you care about is a record.

Even if the ride was under 400 feet, its drop would dwarf S:TE's smaller (328'1") drop--to say nothing of the fact that everyone gets to experience the full height.

Not entirely true...

Xcelerator maxes out at 205', but it only decends 130' at the heighest.

Not entirely true. Maybe the overbank is only 130. You can't tell me that the valley ofter the top hat is 75 feet above the ground! The valley after the top hat is the track below the queue. It's almost ground level!

Per the original press release stats, k-ridah is right...but CP's 2003 project is not Xcelerator in any way, shape or form. This ride stretches for every inch of total descent it can get. Check the photos again.

How can that be, Playa? Look at the pic (or others) Xccel goes almost to the ground after the tophat! (I'd believe 180 or so on that drop...maybe the press release was a misprint?)

edit: Could the 130 be ftom the top to the end of the vertical track? That would make sense, but the actual descent goes almost to the ground.

Xcelerator's drop from the tophat is way more than 130', I don't care what the press release says. If the top of Xcelerator is in fact 205 (which I am pretty sure is correct) then the drop from that point to the pullout must be around 190' - 200'.

Oh, and back on topic. CP #16 is tall, really tall. It will easily become the tallest full circut coaster, so WTF??

i don't care if it's 400 or 420 or 399.....it STILL looks like its gonna be intense!!

Whoever thinks CP is not at all, in any kind of coaster competition needs to think again.

C'mon people. CP does give a damn! Why else would they be putting in such record breaking rides. Hmmm....

-----------------

Were they in competiton back in 78 when they built Gemini? How bout 76 when they built Corkscrew? 89 when they built Maggie? 94 when they built Raptor? 96 when they built Mantis?

CP has always been in the business of making the tallest, fastest, loopiest coasters of their type in the world. All Spawn shows us is that that still hasn't changed.

Coming in 2003-The Spawn Of Magnum!
Ode to the offseason:
Offseason Offseason what shall I do? Who cares the sun is still shining the sky is still blue! GET A LIFE!

By building taller and faster they get more people from further away. They're not in competition with SFMM because the little amount of people that come from cali compared to the surrounding area. And like MagnumForce said; they have a reputation of building record breaking coasters. I think it's more financial than ego though: when you can say that you have the greatest coasters in the world, it's more than just a title, but also more people come through the gates.

You can hear the laughter, you can hear the mighty roar. From the brickyard down in Indy to the white Chicago shore. It's a rollin', twistin', turnin' and might we both suggest. You get you fanny ridin' on the Cornball Express!

Yeah if some of you can 'really' tell the difference between 399ft and 420ft while standing underneath the structure, and you *actually* care, more power to ya. What a boring, frivilous existance you must lead. I'm sure Cedar Point will milk the height and speed for all it's worth, and why shouldn't they? But it's still a really tall, really fast rollercoaster no matter what actual height.

And those of you wondering about my signature, is it becoming clearer now? ;)

It's not a competition. Yes, it gets headlines, but again, what a park on the other side of the country does will not have anything to do with what CP does, or vice versa.

This one is aimed squarely at Six Flags Geauga Lake. It sends the message that buying a whale and a few coasters is not going to make you a player.
