CP's coaster to be announced this week

See Jeff... the acronym was flying around already this morning. I knew it wouldn't take long. And like you said over at CP Place, it is stupid! :)

I'm just bummed they didn't pick MY name....I like TV (but you already knew that, lol)...

TTD is a bit of wordplay with NHRA's Top Fuel Dragster...it works....:)

But should it be TTD or T2D? Hmmmm....

Isn't "TTD" the device or system that lets the hearing impared use the telephone?

Just wondering where all the "it's not going to be 400 feet" people disappeared to - did a chuck of land fall into the ocean?

I for one will NOT be going to CP in May. Why? Flashback to 2000 - lines for MF are 3 to 4 hours with rumors of them being even longer. I visited in July that year and to this day have never waited longer than 1hr 15min for MF. I figure I'll try that same approach again. Let everyone who HAS to get there early in the season get it out of their system and maybe I get some more reasonable wait times.

How can anyone be disappointed with this ride?

Lines for MF should erode wonderfully now.

I'm not an enthusiast, I just play one on message boards.

I will definitely be there on opening day. The length of the line does not matter as I have a cut to the front of the line pass. These were given out at the ace northcoast christmas party by Janice Witherow. Great X-mas gift huh.

This is assuming that the line will actually be more then an hour and a half. I can remember being not waiting more than an 1 hr 15 min on a sunday in may 2000 for MF on two occasions. The line was usually longer for Raptor and still is on most days. (except for the last hour or so of park hours)

Anyway if the line is really long I will get my one ride and then enjoy multiple rides on the 15 other coasters.

I seem to recall the lines for MF were pretty big on opening day, Coastermania, on weekends and during high summer.

With a season pass and JCC membership, I'm hoping I'll get morning ERT on opening day, but barring that I'll be making a couple trips on weekdays in early May

If the lines are long at Dragster, I'll just mosey on over to MF. It's not like there aren't other great coasters to ride.

Anyone know if this ride uses OTSR or Lapbars? I was looking at the pictures and was hoping that it doesn't have OTSR.
I'm pretty sure that it is lapbars. I'm sure CP isn't going to change something like that on the pictures.

Yup--they're shaped like a big ol' letter T. Of course, you get the CP seatbelts, too.

BTW, these and far sillier subjects are being discussed on sister site GTTP...

Just thought I'd share some thoughts from some non-enthusiasts on another board I frequent.

"I love roller coasters as much as the next guy... but I have my limits. The new Millenium Force is even a bit much for me I think. I'll ride the Beast a dozen times over, but you won't catch me setting foot anywhere near this new monster. "

That thought is generally pervasive throughout the board, and this is from grown men in their 30's. Perhaps the GP won't want anything to do with it? Just a thought.

Actually that is TDD, but close enough. And there are several reasons what someone could be disappointed with the ride, most of which have been discussed ad nauseum. Did those reason suddenly become invalid simply because their was an *official* announcement? The ride has been *painfully* obvious for weeks now. I wonder why so many are showing excitement I would think only commesurate with a "suprise" of some sort. But to each....

MWB, that'd be *all the better*....but I'll be willing to bet that people will see riders exiting TTD with big smiles (and tears streaming down their faces from the velocity), and they'll end up riding too. But *if* I'm wrong and they DO fail to ride TTD, then that just means shorter lines for the REAL coaster freeks!

I won't have to wait for Magnum anymore, will I?

TDD. TTD. 66% is good enough for me in this case.

It does change with an announcement, 'Playa. Most of the haters were using the "it's not going to be that fast" or "it's not going to be that tall" or "it's not going to have high capacity"; Baiscally we now know it has all of the above. The only arguement that's remotely valid is the layout/size thing. I choose to restate:

How could anyone be disappointed with this ride?

There will surely be a big group of people throughout the day just standing around the launch area in awe. Also, many of those people will be standing there just to decide if they will ride it. This is the kind of coaster that will attract people in the area to CP just to SEE it, even if they don't ride it. It is an enormous stucture.

Keep in mind that the coaster was made to increase attendance, which means there should be more people in the park overall and lines for the other coasters will still be there.

Sadly, with Dragster's close proximity to Magnum, I'll bet it'll have a longer line this year.

On the other hand, guess which previously long lined, blue-colored ride is situated a good ways away from the new toy? :-)
