Compare construction at CP and Xcelerator

These coasters are planned years in advance. You cannot just change them once construction starts. Changes before construction would postpone the start of construction.

its an inveted top hat at the top of it, if you compare the structure to that of Mr.Freeze you will see that that style is for the use of holding the top of the inveted top hat.

Yeah, what coaster being built in Germany? The Heide Park giga was canceled.

Even if it was built, do you actually think that CP would be able to add on to their coaster? It's pretty darn finalized!

"Dragster"- in honor of the drag queen who got kicked out of CP last year.
I dont believe it will be 400 feet tall more like 280-300 because why in the hell would a park want to blow away a signature attraction just 3 years later. If it is 400 feet 120 mph wouldn't get it up the tower/top hat
Why would a park want to spend so much money to rent out a huge crane that reaches around 450ft plus? There other crane I believe was the one that built Millenium Force with an extension, so why bring in a taller crane if its going to be shorter than Millennium Force?
i swear to god the CP ride is sinking on the right-side supports...

simply because the structure is vaguely similar on two different rides from two different companies does not mean it will be the same element. i don't understand this logic at all. companies choose the most efficient (while sufficiently strong) design...and the structure itself (at this point) would give no indication that the tophat will be inverted.

For those of you that still dont think it will be the length that will be what enthusiasts will be disappointed with, check out this thread on GTTP:

http://www.guidetothepoint.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=8940&page=1

Check out Jeff's post on the second page.

I believe it is possible for one other element to exist, maybe a large elongated bunny hop after the tophat that takes you into the brake run.

Oh God... I think I'm gonna cry.

Say it ain't so Jeff, say it ain't so...

Anyways, I guess I missed that comment. You would think it would be longer, you know for a record-breaking coaster. I just hope the next park that builds a ride like this will make it longer, if this one isn't of course...

I think that it might be kind of cool though, to have the long launch, the tophat, and then a bunny hop going up that gives tons of airtime, but then on the other side has the elevated brakes. Not too bad, but could be better.

It's gonna be a loooooong winter......

If it's 200 feet (give or take) now and not completely vertical, the neg Gs would be lethal if it topped off at 280-300.

Besides, who says it's going to blow away MF? If they were building another gravity based giga coaster, yes, but this thing is a completely different monster.

And 120 mph not being enough? Did you stop to think that the end of the launch track just may not be on the ground?

LMAO Cricket. Thank you for the morning laugh. Now I hope I have a good day at work today.

How much track is left in the parking lot? How many supports are left in the parking lot? If there's nothing but brake run sitting out there then I think we'll have solid evidence as to what this ride will consist of.

Has more track arrived recently or have delieveries tailed off? We have a lot of pieces of the puzzle just sitting out in the parking lot and a lot of people are still assuming this or that. Who here knows what 2 + 2 equals?

More stuff needs to arive. They do not even have enough supports to finish a even a brake run yet, so there will be more deliveries.

Hell...the launch track hasn't even arrived yet. Not everything is on the peninsula yet (although I'm pretty sure it's at least in Sandusky).

What I don't understand is why Cedar Point would build such a short coaster. I mean, anything at 120 MPH will seem short, but every foot of track gives it that extra second of bliss. I realize that Xcelerator was a 13 million dollar project, and that this new CP coaster is bound to top that, but are world records really that important? Having the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world will bring in the crowds in the beginning, but when this ride lasts 15 seconds, what's going to keep them coming back? Pure height doesn't make a ride good.

Why not build a coaster similar to Xcelerator in speed and height, and add 2000 feet? The "General Public" may not know that much about the coaster industry, but they aren't that stupid. While waiting in line for Wicked Twister, I heard at least three people say that "This is just like that one at that other park." They couldn't tell the difference, and weren't impressed. Really, only coaster enthusiasts care about height, speed, length, etc. Yeah, the General Public knows that Millennium Force is tall and fast, but do they know the exact specs like most of us do? I doubt it.

Like I said before, the record breakers bring in the crowds, but if the rides are "one trick ponies," I don't think the guests will be coming back for re-rides. I love the fact that Cedar Point is pushing the envelope with this new ride, and 400 feet at 120 miles per hour will be awesome, it just seems to me that Cedar Point may be acting a little pretentious.

Look at Paramount's Kings Island, they haven't added a major coaster since 2000, and they are doing great. Coasters are awesome, but may not be the way to go anymore. Apparently, guests want a more "rounded out" park with things for the family and thrill seekers

I know almost nothing about this new coaster, besides the fact that it's launched and Intamin. I don't claim to know the moves Cedar Point should make in order to continue to be a success either. These are just my opinions on the new coaster.

Just a point, but do you really think that people in Cali are going to come to Ohio to say, "Hey that looks like that one ride back in Cali!" The GP from Ohio and Michigan wouldn't know about Xcelerator.

I don't think this will be a one trick pony. It just doesn't make sense. If some people call MF a one trick pony, what will they call this?

I was just using Wicked Twisted as an example to get my point across.

But did those people say "it's just like the one from the other park" after they rode it? :)

People don't "care" all that much either way. When people go to parks, they go to have fun, not to play politics and get bogged down in semantics like enthusiasts do. Most parks have log flumes, yet you don't hear people comparing them, they just ride them and enjoy.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

It is a long time till May and the top hat is almost done. There will be more to this ride. It may not be as grand as that drawing that was posted a few days ago, but I believe that it will be more than just a tophat.
