Cedar Point's Blog is teasing us!

I wouldn't exactly call 16 Intamin coasters and 9 B&M Coasters not a whole lot going on. They both seem to be fine without Cedar Point. If they have something going on with Cedar Point that's fine, but they are doing just fine without them.

What about this:

Hersheypark has StormRunner
CedarPoint has Maverick?

What about a clone like StormRunner but sets some sort of records? It would be TTD like in launch but not in height.

"Now that the GMT900 program is almost complete (for us, not them), we are looking toward the future, and have obtained work on the Camaro/GTO programs."

Off topic:

There will be a few more cars on that platform other than the Camaro/GTO. Just thought I would give you a heads up.

carry on.

Yes, they are going on the Zeta platform, from what I've read.

Looks like fun, but much too similar to TTD, IMO. Especially considering all the "fun" CP has had with TTD's launch system.

The point was that the footers that have been photographed do not need extreme curing times. Millennium Force's lift footings were not completely cured when they built the hill. But by the time they finished the hill they were cured to a point where they could support the weight above them. Dragster's footings were done at the most appropriate time for their planning. You don't want the park in there with heavy machinery during the operating season. That gave them the opportunity to get a jump on the construction when they went to weekend operations at the end of the year. If they have a lot of construction to do in that area, it would make sense to do as much of the ground work now as possible, so that you can get an early start at the end of the year.

Thanks for giving me credit when quoting my post.

Oh, and only 99.4% of wooden coasters don't have loops.

Ok fine, this is retarded...

I mean even the biggest skeptic can't believe they would start building now unless its a large ride. IMHO construction during the season is not an issue (As we have seen this numerous times), and a park wouldn't start building a ride, take 4 month break and then start construction.

Dragster doesn't count, why?

FUNNIEST.

THREAD.

EVAH!!!!!!

Moosh, I think it's on par with any thread about Area 51 back before TTD's identity became obvious.

Geeks. Hours and hours of endless amusement!

LOL Tambo. I'm certainly a geek as well...just one who thinks and reasons realistically ;)
I think 'realistic reasoning' disqualifies you. *** Edited 3/23/2006 3:19:16 AM UTC by enfynet***

This reminds me of the thread when Wicked Twister was built...all those geeks insisting there was going to be some huge coaster that broke all records, even a "boardwalk woodie", and all those people insisting CP would NEVER build something similar to what is already at Geauga Lake (at the time SFWoA). I also recall the disappointment when WT was finally announced.

I still hold with my belief that what they build is not going to be something to knock the socks off coaster enthusiasts, but will cater more towards family to better fit the theme of Frontier Town.

That's my hope as well.

^^I'm not so sure about that CP Lady. I think they would like Frontier town to have a litte more thrill to it. Otherwise they could have left WWL and added some family attraction back there to add to the family orientation. Instead they are tearing down a family attraction in a spot that has mostly family attractions (Thunder Canyon, The shoot the chuts [i forget what it's called] and the Cedar Creek Mine ride).

I predict a coaster that will knock the socks off the entire coaster world, including the enthusiasts.

I think you are both wrong, kinda. What they need in Frontier Town is a signature attraction. It could be a family ride or a thrill ride, but they need something to bring people back there because the crowds in FT are severely smaller than the rest of the park. It was almost scary to walk through the park this summer and see the thousands of people flooding the midway when I had hardly seen anyone in the back of the park.

I personally think that it will be a family/thrill coaster, i.e. Powder Keg.

I guess, Tyler, it depends what a coaster enthusiast would consider "thrilling". I thought Wicked Twister was thrilling, but many others did not on Cbuzz did not. And considering all the banter here about "it's gonna be HUGE!!", I suspect there will be many who will be disappointed that it won't be dueling flyers, something with a load of inversions, or 500'ft tall.

Something similar to Powder Keg, in fact, is exactly what I have in mind considering the infrastructure for bringing water into that area is already there from WWL, and they kept the station. It would certainly fulfill the "family" attraction slot left by WWL

Wicked Twister, as someone on an unrelated thread mentioned, that it was the largest inverted coaster EVAR. Take it for what's it worth (not much imho, but people love -est type record breakers).

I'm still hopeful for Dueling Roller Soakers! Similar to Dueling Dragons at IOA, but with Roller Soakers. Two of them would solve the capacity issues, you could dump water on the other coaster, lots of potential!

Only if they are 500' dueling Roller Soakers... ;)
