Cedar Point's Blog is teasing us!

Here's another possibility for reusing the WWL station:

Have a dual side-by-side load/unload setup like Storm Runner at Hershey Park. Since the stairs (if they are still there) basically dumps peeps into the middle of the station, it would practically be the same setup as SR.

Pink Floyd,

I believe the answer to your question is 6 acres.

MrScott

I wouldn't define that blog entry as a "tease", just an update on what's going on.

Then again, Cedar Point could start painting benches and the fanboys would start thinking it was a sign of a new coaster:

"The benches are being painted red and since most Intamin coasters are red, it will probably be an Intamin. And since the park already has a 300' Intamin and a 400' Intamin, this will definitely be at least 500' high because Cedar Fair usually builds taller coasters in 100' increments."

No, you've got that all wrong. The benches ARE the rides.

Keep in mind - Moosh said it's possible they're building a whole new SECTION of the park...

"Brand new for 2007 - Bench Paradise, with over 200 brand new Bench: The Ride installations, as well as 100 refurbished and repainted models that were saved from closed parks all around the country. Whether you're a long-time Bench enthusiast, new to the Bench enthusiast community, or just spending a day with the family, you're sure to find fun in Bench Paradise. "Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
Could be except for one thing: Cedar Point wouldn't save benches from other parks. They have a hard enough time saving their own "classic" attractions.

Although I can see it now... BEST BENCHES IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moosh already said he knows what the park is getting for 2007. So he's either playing devil's advocate or clueing people in on what's next. I wouldn't put it past him to just be messing with people.

In fact, that's all part of the fun on the message boards. If you happen to have insider information, people will take every little thing you say and run a mile with it. It keeps things from getting dull.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
Knowing Moosh, he's not messing with people. He often knows quite a bit and that's because he knows when to keep his mouth shut. If Moosh hints at something, there's a good chance he knows what he's talking about and not just screwing with people.

And with that, I probably just bought him a ton of private messages. Sorry bud!

Ugh, if Cedar Fair begins to clone the bench ride at all of their parks I'm going to be very upset.
Why? That idea would create excellent ROI.
On a side note, with all due respect to fans and enthusiasts who are excited about '07, am I the only person who thinks it's completely assinine to even consider the possibility of a 500 foot roller coaster for CP right now? I actually even think it's a waste of time discussing that possibility but I think many other possibilities are fair game, not knowing the answer of course. I don't know anything here, just trying to apply common sense to the situation. First reason why is cost especially from a park who just lowered it's gate prices 11%. The cheapest you could buy a 500 foot coaster would be for approximately $30 million right now, am I correct? That's with the TTD/KK model which appears to be the cheapest way to get what qualifies as a roller coaster up to the 500 foot level. Right there, $30 million, you get a duplicate, almost exact same ride that you already have. The ride you already have doesn't work right yet on a daily basis so you're going to build a bigger, unproven version? So, let's say you change the layout of this 500 foot coaster and add more, now you're talking $35 million, $40 million, I don't know. But they just stuck TTD right smack in the middle of the park as if it should be their main attraction/towering attraction for years to come. Why would they spend all of this money for a title which as more and more time goes by, means less and less in my opinion. We're just getting to ridiculous heights right now for present technology. Keep in mind the general public does not analyze things the way we do and most of the people I know who go there barely remember the name of TTD and don't either know or care much about its records. They just know it as the big, tall yellow ride that goes fast and they think was called Dragster. Then they talk about how much they like what they describe to me as Raptor and Magnum. So buzzers, politely correct me if I'm out of line for believing there is a 0% chance of them building a 500 foot coaster in '07. Sorry to rain on anyone's parade and be negative but it just doesn't make any sense right now.
It is interesting to note the last time the train tracks were moved MF was built.

I was just going to say that, Swoosh.

I think a great addition would be if they put in Geauga Lakes Boomerang and Rename it "Sidewinder", Build a newly updated flume, a flying scooter called Frontier Flyers, and a HUSS Rodeo.

That would be great.

About the cost issue with large rides, Kinzel talks about how MF paid for itself fast. And it was not at the gate either; it is hotel rooms. We don't know how much CP can spend and get the return they want but it would foolish to assume a 500 footer is not feasible based on cost alone.
It is also interesting to note that last time a flume ride was removed, Raptor was built.

What's to say that Moosh has any inside information (no diss intended dear :) ) Perhaps he's just using plain old common sense?

As far as a 500 footer...I have little faith in that. Especially considering an interview I remember with Kinzel saying, MF was his best business decision, and TTD was his worst. I dont think they would be looking for another disaster like TTD.

And honestly, lets be a little more creative than tallest, fastest period. There are other tallest, fastest records that CP can go for. I would LOVE to see them throw in a giant Intamin woodie, grab the tallest, fastest wood records...they could go for tallest, fastest, loopiest...who knows. Just my opinion, but I would be very surprised and dissappointed to see a 500 footer.

I don't know about you, but I could seriously go for more loops at CP. The ones they have are great and all, and a wooden replacement for Mean Streak would work for me, but I just don't think they need another giant non-looping ride. However, as far as loops go, I can only see a 4D or Dive Machine. I would definitely be disappointed to see a flyer or floorless go in on the grounds that the last thing GL needs is its neighbor, sister park upstaging more of its coasters.

Thanks RavenTTD for bringing in the cost aspect. I guess as previous posts have stated, a 500 foot coaster I don't think would be a smart follow-up to TTD considering people still have trouble getting on TTD, I'm talking of the average person who goes once a year and its downtime. It might not be as much as it was but it still can ruin the yearly day visitors experience when they plan on getting on it later in the day and it's closed. The only coaster that has ever been down for any period of time when I have been there is TTD. I must have lucked out with WT. I guess I just think talk of a 500 footer is crazy and I am generally open to any talk about any park. I just don't see what they have to gain, advertising to the region and country that once again CP has the tallest roller coaster? Many people probably still think they do, heck they didn't change the signs yet, did they? I would think people would want a different ride experience than the recent installations so that brings in multi-looper (floorless), 4-D, woodie, something else I'm forgetting? I don't see a dive machine when the main trick is a vertical drop and TTD does that from twice the height and MF nearly does it. I don't see B&M going crazy either. A lot of things point to a Intamin record-breaking woodie with them maybe taking a little off the price to get in good graces with CP again if that is an issue. Or CP may just be done with Intamin for now.

Another point to consider is how much time do you think Mean Streak has left? I think it could be gone at any time now. It was built when technology did not offer a large woodie that would last as built. Now, it appears that can be done. No one rides it, it does not bring people to that part of the park and it's falling apart. If CP has reached that conclusion too, it's replacement "may" be coming. *** Edited 2/24/2006 5:49:37 PM UTC by Mantis2***

Does anyone out there believe that "it" will be a 500'? No.

And do tell how Mean Streak is falling apart, Mantis2.

Mantis2 remember when the Oceana Midway was dead but then Cedar Point addedWicked Twister ,maXair, GiantWheel, Trioka and Chaos, They revitalized the whole midway and the same will probably will be done to frontiertown. If this happens you'll probably see an Increase in ridership on Mean Streak. Like one of the Cedar Point executives said nobody goes to Frontier Town untill midday because theres nothing major back there in the rides department, except for the two water rides. *** Edited 2/24/2006 6:22:01 PM UTC by CedarPoint420***
