I'll bet you more people get off of Raptor smiling and wanting to do it again than TTD, just because they find it was more worthwhile to wait for a longer, more enjoyable ride experience than going up and down real quick.

Face it, I think 90+% of people care about the quality of their ride experience over the quantity (being numbers - height and speed).I'll bet you more people get off of Raptor smiling and wanting to do it again than TTD, just because they find it was more worthwhile to wait for a longer, more enjoyable ride experience than going up and down real quick.
I'll bet you 20 bucks that your WRONG!!!
You watch people on Raptor when it's done and everyone is smiling, but when you see TTD come to and end, and people have there arms raised, clapping, smiling, WOW WOW WOW
Also, how does the fact that TDD has had some issue mechanically affect its ride experience?
Obviously MF2k you are wrong considering the fact the majority have voted TDD above Raptor. And don't say it is because Raptor is older, because MF is older than TDD and it was voted above it.
Take a look at hte point buzz surveys too. MF, TDD, and Maggie, and then Raptor.
And where in my post did I say they should tear down Mantis and Raptor?
Also I never said that they weren't popular when they were built. I am saying that a Huge coaster is a bigger draw and more recognition than another looping type coaster. (The key word is MORE)
It's hilarious to read, and a bit sad.
Impulse-ive said:And whoever it was that said height is like a drug, you're right, but fortunately, once you realize that height can only take you so "high" (bad pun, almost gator worthy!) you start to appreciate the power more than the height, and there are many more in the mid-sized category that have power (Talon, Fire Dragon, Magnum, Nitro [shut up LG!]) than in the super-sized category. If 450' doesn't satisfy you, what makes you think 500 would?
"gator-worthy"? I think I have Gonch's sick, er, sixth sense, LOL.... :)
See, I think 400' CAN satisfy you...for a while. Then, just like the "high" analogy, you build up a tolerance and need a *better hit*....hence, 500'...but that's for the people who take their adrenaline in discreet DOSES. I kinda prefer the "adrenaline drip"... ;)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Why is it that the 8 of the top ten rollercoasters on the Golden ticket awards are air machines?

AMEN PhyscoMonkey61
Spending $45 million+ on Millennium Force and Dragster within a span of three years was still not enough to bring people through the gates of Cedar Point to the level that would satisfy management/stockholders/etc. To remedy this, management both lowers the admission price for '06 and plans to build a ride larger than both Millennium Force and Dragster because surely, this will finally bring people through the gates in satisfying numbers.
Clearly people aren't flocking to Cedar Point because they no longer hold a completely meaningless record! Steel Dragon 2000 undercut Millennium Force's run at the top, and Kingda Ka did the same last year. No one wants to go to a park with the second tallest or fastest ride! What were you thinking, Kinzel?!? ;)
Could also be due to the fact that PKI's have always been cheaper and Include a nice waterpark.
IMO its clearly a money issue
To get a park and a water park cedarpoint combo pass cost 64 bucks.
To get a park and a water park for one pass at PKI it costs 35
Attendance doesn't depict who makes the most money.
For instance if PKI brings in 3.3 million people their gate revs = 3.3 x 35 = 115 million dollars.
say CP brings in 3.0 million into normal gates, and 100 thousand for a combo day that equivilates into : (3.0 x 40) + (100k x 65) =120 million dollars + 6.5 million dollars = 126.5 million dollars
In my realistic and hypothetical situation Kings Island brought in 200k more people through the gates but Cedarpoint made 11.5 million more
And also Kinzel Said that CP makes its money from its resorts. So that would indicate that these Monster coasters are enticing people to come and stay at their resorts from all over.
Also look at the crowd. King island has a rather large kid area. Which would translate into cheaper tickets. (not saying Cp doesn't have a kid audience) and less money to spend.
Oh, and We also all know that Kings Island doesn't have two large air time coasters or a 315 foot drop tower.
All rational goes out the window where CP is concerned. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. ;)
BRING ON THE 500 FOOTER CP!!!!

Heh. :)
Only when certain people talk CP.
Hell, at the very least you have to be impressed by the diehard fan base. That's gotta be worth something.
That's gotta be worth something.
Evidently, it's not worth a penny over $39.95.

Hymmm...answer this. Why does PKI continually whip CP's butt every year in attendance without the benefit of even a 300ft coaster?
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha....Attendence means nothing, just the money and the fame.
