Cedar Point today announced on Twitter that Top Thrill Dragster is being retired, but they're hard at work creating a "reimagined" ride experience.
— Cedar Point (@cedarpoint) September 6, 2022
The ride has been closed since August 2021, when a metal plate detached from the ride and struck a guest in the head, according to a state investigation.
A friend's 2000 Celica GT was pretty awesome, too, but I didn't love the styling. I will also say that I absolutely love the 2000GT, but sadly don't see myself ever driving one in my lifetime.
I'd love to see them use the current S&S train style that are on Maxx Force and Steel Curtain. I've been super impressed with how they ride and they're easily the most comfortable "new" coaster trains since the B&M hyper trains. I never feel contorted, claustrophobic or crushed (in any area on my body, RMC). Super comfy! But just my 2 cents. The trains Dragster had felt great to me, no crazy mods like Superman in New England.

I don't understand how the back spike could have a 500 foot height.
I added that just to see what it would say. If it is doing a sling launch, I wonder how high it would have to go, with the added assistance of power through the LSMs. Does it gotta go up at least 400ft or can it be way lower?

I haven't loved any Toyota I've driven, but I'd hardly call them an unproven manufacturer.
My 2 statements are unrelated.
Zamperla has not yet manufactured a great coaster above a wild mouse. IMO They are unproven. Toyota, on the other hand, is proven and has manufactured all kinds of dependable cars and trucks for decades.
I don’t care for the design or comfort of a Zamperla ride. That has nothing to do with them being proven as far as building moderate coasters. It’s just another factor that makes me doubtful that this will be great.
Even when Dragster ran well I wouldn't have called it great. It is not a great roller coaster. It is a pretty exhilarating experience. It is a unique thrill. It is not a great roller coaster.
There aren’t many things more entertaining than listening to enthusiast rumors about unannounced coasters.
I heard every ride will give a perfectly balanced stop at the top for exactly 37 seconds, and it will take a panoramic on-ride photo of the whole train and you’ll get to take that home and experience it in VR anytime you want.
Intamin is only doing every other lap bar, and PTC is doing the others. The seats will be made by Porsche, and the wheels will be filled with helium for a lighter ride.
The ride will be launched into LSMs by an S&S air launch, and the spike will have a holding brake.
This is 100% true. You heard it here first.

And then getting upset by rumors that the prior rumors may not happen. LOL
Come on. cmwein, how do you not get the joke? It's hardly an in-joke.

Nonsense. You didn't make a YouTube video of it. HIT THAT LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!

The Coke Freestyle guy told me they're renaming the ride Titan and the launch system is going to explode after 40 cycles.
If he really said “explode” then we know he’s full of s***.

Rob, I almost snorted coffee out of my nose. Well played.
I didn’t get to read the entire thread here, but I’m gathering Intamin isn’t working on the “re-imagined” ride. Why? I know CF isn’t super happy with Intamin, and I have heard they’re difficult to work with, but I would think the safest option for a new ride experience would be to work with the company that designed the original. I could be completely wrong about that of course and likely am, but I’d imagine no one is gonna understand the design of an Intamin like Intamin would, B&M for B&M, etc.
