Cedar Point today announced on Twitter that Top Thrill Dragster is being retired, but they're hard at work creating a "reimagined" ride experience.

The ride has been closed since August 2021, when a metal plate detached from the ride and struck a guest in the head, according to a state investigation.
To be clear we are wondering about the reliability of a replacement for a problematic Intamin by bringing up other problematic Intamins.
I for one am excited for this replacement. It essentially replaces Dragster and Wicked Twister. The reliability of the ride remains to be seen but it can't possibly be worse than the original.
The switch track video on the pulled site looks just like Intamin's solution, but we shall see, hopefully as innovative as they are with flats, they have better sensor and actuator deployment and reliability.
I also find it funny how everyone was bitching about bulk deals when the pulled site, has a lengthy blurb about the history with Cedar Fair, and how the DiskO' and Peanuts, and Wild Mouse and Pony Express were key to getting to here.
Compared to what? I'm not seeing very many flat ride manufactures on the IAAPA floor.

I have some friends who work in park maintenance and they've all said that all rides are absolute trash
Fixed that for ya. Seriously though, I also know people who work in maintenance/engineering from mechanic to VP level at Cedar Fair, Six, Disney, and Universal parks and they all at some point have trashed every manufacturer, even B&M. Work on something long enough and it will start to suck. I go through the same thing with the companies I work with.

Yeah, I’m sure they’ve made a few wisecracks about B&M.
