Cedar Point-Construction?

I haven't seen them, but it loooks like what they might be talking about. I'm crossing my fingers. :)

CP was amazing, going back next June to ride Maverick

I doubts its anything big. They have the box painted right next to a tree by the area where your go through that old like saw mill area. There are a few other markings one by the train tracks, one by the restroom building and one underneath the helix area. That was all i seen. Nothing big enough to draw interest in my opinion.

I'm hoping for a Roller Soaker. In that area of the park, it could be possible.

And being the "people eaters" that roller soakers are... NOT! I don't see that coming to CP. If its even going to be remotely in that vicinity AND we're looking at a water ride (as Kinzel said before), I'm guessing that they will do what WOF, Dorney Park, and Knott's have done. Which is installing a Huss Topspin with waterjets.

I highly doubt we'll see a new coaster at Cedar Point for 2006, but I'll vouch for a flat ride.

Those things are a lot of fun, but I would think they'd have to do a dual installation, given the park's need for high-capacity rides. Carowinds' version is only 600 PPH. You could do a bit better with separate load/unload, but probably not by much.

I got to ride the huss Top Spin, and I thought it was a lot of fun. I would also love to see a S&S Sky Swatter

While we're somewhat on the subject of lift hills, wasn't there a design for a lift that had a coaster in the horizontal position lifted straight up on a section of track and then once at the top of the track, it would tip to meet the angle of the drop hill? If so, I think this would solve any space problems a 45 degree lift hill would create.

I'm not saying we need a 500'+ coaster, but I just thought I'd mention it. *** Edited 7/18/2005 10:26:24 PM UTC by Jason Hammond***

I never thought of a topspin with water jets. Thats a cool idea too.

Has anyone thought of the possibility that Kinzel mentioned that they were thinking of adding a water ride in the back of the park because the project had been scrapped all together? Or that maXair took its place in the future capital investment plans? It's not really that man's style to give away hints of what's coming next (more like blatantly stating it).

Here's the article: http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=590

Perhaps the water ride was supposed to be where the swan boats used to be and was similar to what Dollywood is putting in next year. I would find it very surprising for him to have let something like that slip out a year before it is to be constructed.

Yeah ive heard of that too. It was Vekoma if im not mistaken. But i never heard of them installing one, plus it would probably be like their boomerangs or something like that. But its unlikely that they will work with vekoma. CP never has.

Although Cedar Point has not had dealings with Vekoma, Cedar Fair has. You never know. There's a first time for everything.

Im not really certain on when Cedar fair acquired certain parks, but the ones i know have very few. I know Geauga Lake had theirs already. CP doesnt have any, Dorney doesnt either. I know Knotts does, Michigan doesnt have one either. Ill check on Worlds of Fun and also ValleyFair! but i dont have any jumping out at me. You are right that there is a first time for everything, but we shall see.

Although it wasn't a huge capital investment, Woodstock Express is a Vekoma.

Woodstock express is a vekoma coaster.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Worlds of Fun's Boomerang is also Vekoma.

I don't recall any design for a lift like this. There has been a tilt coaster built in Taiwan called Gravity Max.

http://www.rcdb.com/id1357.htm

It still has a traditional lift followed by a section of brakes where the train is then tilted to meet the track.

There are also several examples of vertical lifts (elevators really), but they are generally seen on small coasters such as mice and LoCoSuMo. Although Powderkeg has a lift, but not vertical.

As far as both of these features existing on the same coaster, if it's out there I haven't heard of it.

Yeah is Good!
Why am I envisioning another maintenance nightmare with this type of a lift????

The Vekoma tilt coaster and the coaster he's (or she's) referring to are separate designs. The other one I think is Intamin (I don't remember) and I saw a picture of it long ago and can't remember. It might have been setpoint. The idea was much like the tilt coaster except an entire piece of track, with the train secured to it, would be hoisted up one side of a top hat (a straight one like H:XLC's) and at the top the track would curve down with the curve of the tophat and line up with the far side.

Not that I believe it, but screamscape says CP might be getting an S&S Screamin' Swing. I guess it's as valid a guess as any on here.
It was in first drop a while back that S&S were building two 40 person Screamin Swings and they haven't apeared yet.
