I dont know who what was smoking to think it'd even be concievable to be a "wing walker" style train. All along, I assumed it'd be a more traditional sit-down train... and with the first track popping up with that sharp S-Turns & especially, the first inversion... it should have been a gimmie that the trains would not extend much beyond the track's width.

The inversion had enough room. As far as it being to close to the ground, they dont usually worry about digging for clearance until the trains are on so they are able to get just enough clearance that they know nothing will happen but give guest that extra oh crap we are going to hit the ground feeling. I only know this because I watched the Patriot construction closely and they did that exact same thing. So I was holding on to hope but thats gone now. :) It will be a great coaster regardless because it's CP.

...Mean Streak?
...Avalanche Run?
...Wildcat?

Sorry no comment I guess. I haven't been to the park so I can't comment on those rides. hopefully Mean Streak is still standing whenever I get a chance to make it there because I would like to ride it to make my own opinion. I still LOVE Timberwolfs bumpy ride well others are complaining about it so we will see.

Wildcat is a great coaster.
So I have heard Raven.
I know I'm a n00b, but I've been reading this thread since pg12. Ummm has anybody done a search on intamin sit-downs built in the last 3 years on RCDB? There are a couple that are on plots this small and have a bunch of inversions / elements stuffed in. Just food for thought.

edited for grammer, can't have mr. moosh jumping on me... ;-) *** Edited 8/29/2006 3:50:24 PM UTC by Coasterfreak321***

Mean Streak is AWESOME! Ride the back car of the yellow train. It's the best. It's WICKED.

As for the overbanked turn, i'll upload my picture, there's a place not shown in the picture, where it'd be perfect for an over banked turn, HEll, it's allready perpendicular to the ground coming around that turn at the station, why not have an overnanked turn over the water.

I hope that's sarcasm, BANDandDCI... because if the front of a wooden coaster is so rough where it jostles my back beyond pain for Excedrin's... I can only imagine the pain in the rear seat... especially based upon previous experience on rear-seats on wooden coasters (Predator, Big Dipper @ Geauga, Blue Streak, Cyclone @ New England).
I always thought those people bouncing around and shuffling left to right/up & down on the rear of Mean Streak was because of the sheer roughness of the coaster... I never knew it was just for effect.
Will do.

LOL! May have to change my signature. And yes, Wildcat is a great ride. And I really dig Disaster Transport as well.

dude, woodies are ALL about being rough. I do say that the back of Mean streak gets a tad out of control, where you don't look forward to the big drops, but I still love it. but I have rode a smooth ride on mean streak in the back. It's actually pretty smooth, if you get a great ride. but the back IS rough.

And Maverick will be an awesome coaster, and i'm going to be there, opening day next season, regardless of the fact I have class or not.

HaHa Matt ;)

BANDandDCI:

If you saw someone with a big arse stroller looking around the construction site on Sunday, that would have been me. I was at the site about 3ish, 4ish something like that. It's funny because my wife had the camera and was taking pictures of Mean Streak because it looks so pretty. She didn't take any pics of construction because its something that everyone else has seen.

ophthodoc:

You make a very good point about the pilings around the station. The more recent CP coasters that has the stations that load up high (MF, Raptor, Mantis) have a ton of these all around the station area, while Dragster and Wicked Twister really don't have these pilings.

I'm not sure, have we rulled out a floorless?
floorless, as in a B&M floorless. Because Intamin would be the higher being in this coaster design. But floorless would be pretty cool, but idk, it'd be cool but at high speeds I couldn't see a floorless, nonetheless there's not enough space for a floorless train, that space where the coaster dives in between the supports is too tight.

Like on MF they don't advise people to put up your hands, becasue there are some spots where the coaster comes dangerously close to a concrete support. but this coaster comes REALLY close to the supports.

I think we are all spoiled with CP and Intimins Smooth Steel track, that we some times forget that some coaster are bumpy, and CAN be made out of wood ;)

Thats it, we are just to spoiled at CP for bumpy rides.

From my experience, most of Intamin's coasters are not exactly smooth. In fact I would say that El Toro is smoother than all of the Intamin steel coasters I've ridden. When I say they aren't smooth, I mean they vibrate a lot much like a "smooth" wood coaster does. Most of them track well unlike Kingda Ka, but they certrainly don't glide along the rails like Schwartzkopfs and the old B&M's do. I'm not trying to be nit-picky; it's just something that surprised me about Intamin coasters, but now I've come to expect it.

BANDandDCI...If Intamin built a floorless, It would most likely be 2 across. And what does speed have to do with it being floorless or not? There are quite a few that go pretty fast that are floorless, BGE just announced a floorless that will top 70.
