Wowzas. That is a great picture, though tisk tisk on whoever possibly snuck a camera onto mean streak, assmuming thats how this was taken.

That's obviously how it was taken. The photo is not illegal. The way it was acquired was against park rules (for safety reasons), but the picture itself doesn't violate any copyright laws or anything like that.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

Actually in accordance with Ohio state law if that picture was taken from Mean Streak, it is illegal. In Ohio you are legally required to obey all park rules. Still nonetheless a very interesting photo which has me scratching my head at what will be the final ride path and elements.

^Was wondering why it took so long to see a picture like that.

But anyway note the obvious water feature under the corkscrew.

Man... are some of you all going to just whine over & over that the picture is "illegal"... or comment on a new perspective that hasn't been seen as of yet?

I say... who cares? What's done is done... the layout so far looks very... confusing, to say the least. Will it [direction of the train] be going from the corkscrew to the hill or from the hill to the corkscrew? The argument can be made both ways, especially considering the tight turns after the hill on the far side.

Those footers still have me convinced this is going to be some sort of traditional lift. Whether it be an accellerating lift of some sort, chain lift, or cable-lift... who knows, but it certainly doesn't appear to be a launch-track, even akin to Rita or Stormrunner.

I really don't want to steer from the main topic, but I must ask. Would you, DawgByteII, care if that photographer was sitting in front of you while riding?

That's why the word illegal was mentioned. Heck, it didn't stay up at PointBuzz through the evening.

Playing Devils Advocates for those who can't tell a head of time:

Who is to say this guy is actually riding? Judging from the shadows, it is theoretically possible this photo could have been taken early on by a maintenance person...though highly unlikely, but all you need is a little doubt to make it legal. Unless they tell their crew not take pics while checking out their rides. Or it could have been some construction crew member checking out their own progress. Which they did when building Top Thrill. This is America and we can't exactly prove this person guilty...yet. ;)

On the other hand. I'v been nailed with 3 cell phones, umpteen hats, glasses, a waterbottle, and who knows what else throughout my life. Do we need rules for that one person in the world who is stupid enough no to know how to tie down a camera, evidently...how I wish I would ride back in the 50's. People cry foul, when they see a camera, but don't cry foul when they see people holding their hands up at CP...and we all know that that happens. And yes, I know we can all argue the point in either way.

One can also argue with all the pics taken at the hotel breakers. Were those people staying on property? Or were those people trespassing, etc.

I'm just tossing these out. No need to reply back. Everyone just should enjoy the end of the season, have a blast, take all the legal pics you want that will make you happy. Make sure no one else gets hurt...unless they are wearing Steelers or Michigan stuff.

Oh yeah ;)

yea, I doubt this was that day, but on sunday, there was a guy who took a picture of the site on top of mean streak and the operators yelled at him, and told him to put the camera away. but surprisingly, they didn't pause the train on the lift.

But another thing to note is the excessive amount of concrete pillars under the station/straight track.

but the picture doesn't show that the ride extends toward the waterrides, over that pond area. Those supports, suport a lower banked turn, as well as an overbanked turn.

but I truly wanna see the projected path of the coaster, because looking at the supports it doesn't make much sense, for how much track they have, so maybe this ride will be built on top of itself.

I'm thinking after looking at the forbidden picture above that second unfinished corkscrew loops back under the first one?? I'm still not convinced that this couldn't be a wingwalker, looking at the sizes of some of the equipment parked next to the low section of track. Those 'S' curves would be nuts in an outside seat close to the ground!
A few comments about the photo:

1.) There's no motion artifact, which leads me to believe that it was taken by somebody standing on the coaster (i.e., an employee)

2.) I doubt it was taken from the lift; it would theoretically be easy to turn around and snap a picture (if you were sitting in the back seat), but I don't think it was anyway because the lift is farther to the right in this photograph

3.) There are still more unoccupied footers visible in the photo, which means even more coaster will be crammed into the area

4.) My guess is that they'll take out that small land bridge right next to the station and connect the water shown in the photo to the water that (used to) surround the station on WWL

5.) I never used to think WWL took up so much area; but of course, they've torn down all the nice trees that used to make up this part of the park

Where in the world would you get the idea that an unregistered guest at the Hotel Breakers is trespassing?

Trespassing???? Hell, that's free advertising.

To clarify, the person who took the photo told me it was taken while riding. Not that the park would be any happier if was an employee sharing the photo.

Trespassing was a bad word for the sake of the conversation...loittering I would think could fit more approprietly (which knowing CP's many lawyers would have something against.)

And since they admitted it was taken on ride...OFF WITH THEIR HEAD...after we see some more pics of course. ;)

I don't know if anyone has already seen this, but the banner on cedar point's webside has Snoopy teasing "The Secret's Out In 9 Days"
^^That's a surprisingly good photo considering the bumpy ride.

Loitering isn't a better word. There is nothing wrong with an unregistered guest being at the Hotel Breakers. In fact, park guests are encouraged to eat in the hotel restaurants, shop at the hotel's gift shops, and use the beach.

If a park guest wants to go in the hotel, sit down, and take it the atmosphere, or do some photography, they are welcome to do so. It's not wrong, even on a technicality.

...an unregistered guest can use the beach... for free?

Hmm... I never knew that. So then I'm assuming that an unregistered guest who's curious about the hotel on-site can browse through the lobby & such... just in case they're interested in staying... or to see how the guests who pay a premium stay?

I don't get where the "overbanked turn" is located. I see some sharp turns, but nothing over 90 degrees aside from the two inversions.

The beach isn't public, but it can be used by any guest of the park, Soak City, resorts, or any season passholder.
