Cedar Point '07 Project

Just out of curiosity, has anyone taken any revealing pictures of the old WWL station? I'm just curious as to if the turntable is still there? I don't think that they are incorporating Project 2007 into the station in any way but hey, I could be wrong. I just wondered if the flume infrastructure was still there, leaving the possibility of constructing another flume once they have all the pieces parts in place for the coaster.

After all, a park with no log flume is just so...unparkish! :)

^Tom, check www.pointbuzz.com and visit the photo gallery from 8/25/2006. You'll find a picture of WWL's station there. Although the picture is a bit dark, it looks like the turntable has been removed. Which leads me to think that your flume reconstruction theory may be a bit flawed.

By the way, I wholeheartedly agree - No flume, no zoom!

Ok, thanks, that photo answered that question. Unless they just get a whole new turntable system. I still find it kind of strange that they left that station intact. I, however, am not in the know, so all I have is speculation, which about 99% of us do anywho.

Thanks again,

Tom

They left it for some use of some kind be it for themeing or and element on the coaster we will have to wait and see. It does seem strange they didn't just tear it down making it easier to remove the turntable. Hum.:)

I think the old WWL station will be used for queueing. I noticed this weekend that a foundation was poured and it is about 30-50 feet away from the WWL station and I'm pretty sure that foundation will be for the station. Notice the glob of footers in relation to the old WWL station.

You'll wait in the old WWL queues, the old WWL station and then finally jog over to the station. At first I was guessing that you'll be heading upstairs on the second level of track where you'll board, but now I'm thinking that you'll be closer to the ground. I'm still not sure about that part.

^My guess is, you'll board on the second level. The cement pilings might be there to accomodate some kind of walkway; you'll walk to the station (perhaps over water?) then probably up a set of stairs, then board.

As far as what's left over from WWL, I'm not sure I would have saved the station JUST to use it as a queue line for the new attraction. Why not start over with a fresh slate?

Everyone seems to be stuck on a standard lift hill or a LIM....how about Intamin developing their own version of the Tilt or Power Lift? Those supports near what is considered the station look like they could support it. As for the LIM tracks that have been spoted....how about LIM brakes instead of a LIM launch?
Hey Rob Willi, when were you there? I was there all day sat and sun.

But my guess was that they would keep the queue from WWL. but they would get rid of the station, or re model it. But since you were there, did you notice all teh stupports underneath what we say may be the station. What me an a couple others were thinking, standing inbetween the old station and the saloon pizza place, said that something was going to happen in that area.

but I took pictures and i'm going to upload them soon.

gator you're not missing a whole lot on Medusa West ... don't waste your money thinking you're going to ride anything mind-blowing.

So has anyone taken a look at the staging area pix from the 26th and noticed that there's one piece that has red-painted support-type steel already mounted to the bottom of the track, AND at a 90-degree angle to the running surface? That's just one of five oddly supported pieces in this pic: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=5351

No opinion on my part, just something interesting to look at (more interesting than dirt ... )

yea, there's a couple of them. I took pictures too. but I don't know why some are painted as such, when the supports are a beige color.

I agree with RobWilli in that the old WWL station will be used as part of the queue. I would even go further to say I think they will theme it to an old mine shaft or storage area.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Theming, if done right and kept up, would be great. But I would rather zoom through the old turntable area. That would be fun!

Mind-blowing? B&M? Hahahaha. Oh, wait, Goliath @ SFoG proved (to me at least) that they CAN do that...in general though, I prefer Intamin. When everyone returns to the station, anyway...

But if CP wants a floorless, they should just take the one from GL (BKFinator)....that or X-Flight would make a fine addition to CP for '08, no? ;)

LOL, I'm going (SpringCon '07) for first RIDES at SCBB, for Roar and V2.1 at SFMW, and for Bonfante. I'll likely stop by PGA just to pick up missing credits and get out before the employees there wreck my day... ;). After Denver this coming weekend, that leaves NorCal as the only US region with double-digit credits available to me. And SCBB, alone, is worth the trip IMO. CP just doesn't make use of the BEACH well enough.... :)

Anyone else think BKFinator looks very "unfamily" on first glance? ;) (the word, not the ride ... although I'm sure if you looked at the ride right ... )
Seen this photo? (Found on pointextreme.com)

Probably ileagal, but still appreciated.
By looking at the size of the construction site I think it will have to be a luanch coaster or have a very small lift hill. There does not seem to be enough room in that area to have a large lift. Or they might just use a new and unique was of lift or luanch.
