PKI advertised King Cobra as the first stand up LOOPING roller coaster in North America

Now even the off-topic stuff in this thread is getting repetitive.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
Your right but it has more close to the ground twist and turns and speed sections like a twister rollercoaster Andy.

It also has all of them overbanks, not to mention speed tunnels, etc. So while it's out and back it also behaves like many twisters dO? *** Edited 8/12/2006 10:03:37 AM UTC by Kyle Fobe***

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

To be a true out and back you need the coaster to go from a point "A" to be point "B" and then follow a relatively direct path back to point "A." Double out and backs would do it twice. Some out and backs, like Voyage, qualify but can still be just as twisty-turny as a twister in the end.

If MF's point "A" is the station, I'm not sure what point "B" would be. I guess the second overbank would be the best fit but that's stretching quite a bit to make the ride fit a category that it doesn't really fit.

As far as the layout MF really fits better with some of the free-form terrain coasters out there, except without the height differentials we usually associate with a terrain coaster.

Ahh, but WOF's went upside down -- so even though it did not have a "loop" it did "upsidedown loop" by going through the corkscrews.

Yes the ride was RailBlazer and it is the side that is still there. The other side (where Ninja currently sits) went first to Dollywood and is now in Arkansas.

I do have a picture somewhere of RailBlazer, I'll have to see if I can find it.

Sorry about getting the Off Topic, Off Topic. ;)

So.. I think it's going to be is Intamin track. Possibly an aquatrax?

;)

(Sorry, that hasn't been repeated for a couple pages)

Hey Roller Coaster Pro just got some new pic of the contruction photos. You can now see some track pieces on the construction site.

Some nice pics

When was this announced?

Trust me when I say the annoucement is NEXT WEEK(14th August or sometime that week) unless of course they delay it further???
You see while on the ECC America Trip at Cedar Point, most of us were wondering what the new ride would be, and while on the managers with us obviously couldnt say what it was, he did say that it would be annouced in August and was currently scheduled for around August 14th or maybe later that same week.

So again trust me, We WILL ALL KNOW SOON :D

I personally think its a launched coaster of some kind, was'nt there a report of Cedar Point building a power supply building in that area of the ride where something like that wouldnt really be nessecary???

I love it!

"Trust me it will be next week....unless it isn't!"

Definitive stuff right there.

LOL matt...was thinking the same thing ;)
I don't know about another launch coaster. I mean, that would allow them to have a more compact lengthy coaster with out the need of a lift hill. But after all the trouble with TTD, would they really want to hassle with another one?

PKD has four launched coasters: Volcano, Hypersonic, FoF, and Italian Job. Don't see why CP couldn't/wouldn't have three.
Add to that the fact that the smaller rocket coasters and the LIM launched coasters all have better reliability than the two behemoths.

...but wouldn't a traditional chain-lift be more fun than a launch? On one hand, you got the mass accelleration in a short span, which is fun. On the other hand, you got the slow climb to the top and get a chance to catch your breath before the actual ride begins (and also extends the overall time on the ride).

I choose traditional chain lift. More time to enjoy on the ride, especially after waiting 2hrs (or much more next year, depending on capacity & hype).

I don't have preferences one way or the other.

Moosh was just stating that CP having three launched coasters is far from impossible and I was stating that the problems of TTD will have nothing to do with this ride.

Either way, I'm sure I'll give it a spin the next time on at the Point.

Yeah is Good!
first piece of track is in place check out the cedar point webcam YAY! looks like they are working on a second piece.

Well, its the 14th. Where is the announcement at Pauld??????

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

HaHa I dunno but its pouring there right now. He did say or sometime in the week of the 14th also. *** Edited 8/14/2006 8:58:07 PM UTC by TonyBlackjack***

PaulD confirmed that the announcement was either on the 14th, or the week of the 14th, unless it is later than that.

That being said, I can confirm that the announcement will come either January 15th, 2010, or the week of January 15th, 2010, unless it is earlier than that. ;)

Sweet I'll mark it on my calendar
