Cedar Point '07 Project

But recognition of it and support of it are different things. I think PKD has done a wonderful job at pulling off 4 different ride experiences, but I wouldn't recommend that any park have so many of those kinds of rides. If PKD were to have more diverse rides, like CP does, I bet that they would be catering to more (different) people.

Just because one park has done it doesn't mean that it SHOULD have done it, and certainly doesn't mean that anyone else should follow suit. I think PKD has done as good as they can possibly do at marketing their decisions. That's not to say it's been perfect, just to say that it's as good as they could do.

You've missed my point, too.

I never said it should be done. I merely said is has been done. The precedent is set.

but unless this is something "amazing" it still won't be as popular as TTD and MF.

I doubt that was really in consideration at the R&D department.

Meh, themeing isn't just decorating a ride to match a time period or idea, it's about an underlying idea and concept that is basic. So what random coaster a goes through random theming b, if the ride doesn't provied to this idea that supports the theme, then there is no point in the themeing. Take for example Space Mountain. Theme is space adventure, which happens to focus on blasting through the cosmos on a coaster. That's a theme. Frankly, I don't know what the heck DT, but I won't touch that one with a 20 foot pole. ;)

As for ANOTHER launched coaster, remember that all of the PKD launches are VERY different in nature, beyond just having one suspended and one sit-down. Hypersonic is speed and hill, Volcano is inversions and speed, and Italian Job is for family and curves.

And the plot thickens...with new pictures!

Hmmm.. could intamin be making a dive coaster? The sign in the gallery section that states "Were going in a whole new direction". Well.. Dragster and WT both go up? How about going down? Smack me if this has already been stated.. just do it lightly.

What was I supposed to put here again?!?!

Every coaster in the park goes up and down though...

Considering the sign that says, "We're going in a whole new direction" and someone else stating they saw a sign on the train ride that said "Back up Bronco", I would guess that the whole new direction is backwards. Of course I could be wrong.

Yeah is Good!

Or it could just mean, "We're not building another water ride," and, "This is a construction area, get the hell away."

A year or so ago some plans for a new prototype coaster developed by Werner Stengel for Intamin were floating around the Internet. The design called for a launch coaster which, after running through part of the course, would go up a vertical spike, stop there for a brief period of time while the spike itself rotated to align with another piece of track, and then the train would be released and left to finish the course. (I would assume with another "turn-around" somewhere at the end) More complicated designs called for multiple courses, and a possible interactive feature allowing guests to decide which one they wanted to experience.

Considering those who are "in the know," have mentioned that Cedar Point's 2007 attraction has been guessed correctly by someone at some point in time, I doubt this prototype is what we will see. But I think it is possible that a current coaster design could incorporate a few of the features mentioned above, if the "back up bronco" and "whole new direction" signs are being interpreted correctly. *** Edited 5/14/2006 4:40:19 PM UTC by CoasterKrazy***

That ride is in RCT3, am I right?

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
Yes, it came with RCT3: Wild! Expansion pack.

Why are there stirofome(sp) blocks on the tops of the footers? I wonder what purpose they serve.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

They probably have a number on them that corresponds to a support somewhere.

The bottoms of the supports have a piece that fits into the holes that the foam is filling. The foam is temporary and , I believe, is meant to keep debris from going into the holes.
Soo.... friend of mine is waiting for Skyhawk today and a guy strikes up a conversation.. says he's 'in the know'...

the words 540 foot and 160MPH are mentioned.....

I think it's bull but you never know with CP

The guy also said they were plannign deuling flyers but they wouldnt fit.

Or maybe it was one of you guys messing with him, but the guy knew all about intamin footers etc.

If he knew about intamin footers etc. then chances are he knew enough to mess with people with the 500 foot/dueling flyers rumors going around. *** Edited 5/14/2006 8:45:26 PM UTC by P18***
My thoughts exactly P18, but my friend tried to break him ( he said "you're joking, thats crazy"), but the guy was dead set on this. Must be a good actor...?
LOL at "didn't fit."

They would make it fit if they felt it was the best business decision.

Talk about engaging in mere speculation.... They're not that stupid to plan something and then realize that there's not enough room..... .......But that's another story
