Cedar Point '07 Project

that would be this one at Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells. http://www.rcdb.com/ig2397.htm just like that slow log ride on RCT
So true.

You can't really make out the sign, but it does say, "Wait from this point, 1 hour." ;)

Yeah is Good!
Mamoosh and Hamster Boy, you crack me up! :-)

I'll have to say this is exciting news! I wish they would replace Mean Streak with a better woodie. I LOVE CP! But the only coaster that I don't like there is Mean Streak...my brain feels scrambled after I ride that.

I can't wait to see the new track pieces on Saturday!

I'd rather be riding Roller Coasters....or baking.

Will the new project be delayed to 2008 because of the Paramount Park thing?????
Why would it?
Because its sinking ;).....oh and so is the beast now that cedar fair owns it.
I have some pics from opening day of the footers. As soon as I get them processed, I'll post them here.

Here is that "rotating spike coaster" that someone posted about earlier in this thread

Has anyone else wondered where the extra .76 billion dollars is going that CP is getting from Bear Stearns for the Paramount buyout? The buyout is costing 1.24 billion and Bear Stearns is putting up 2.0 billion. I know that there will be other misc costs associated with the transaction, but three quarters of a billion dollars?

On to "going different directions" from the construction signs...

If you look at the Euopean Patent drawing in the 2 head on drawings each "pair" of seats has one facing forward and one backward.

With this set up the coaster would have a high re-rideability because you would get vastly different rides depending on which direction you were facing and which side of the track you sat on.

Just a couple of observations. I guess time will eventually tell.

EDIT: I just looked at the "rotating spike" and by adding this element you further increase the number of different ride experiences on 1 coaster.

I'm betting the extra cash will go to all the costs associated with bumping the new parks up to CF standards.

"Bumping up" to CF standards? From PP standards?

I'm confused....not picking on you, just curious.

My only *complaint* about the Paramount Parks was their wooden coaster maintenance...they are (or were) beautiful, well-landscaped, clean shady parks, with friendly staff. I'm not sure how CF is going to improve on that....

Note: Each chain has one park I considered a *dud*....mostly due to staffing and operations concerns...

edit: I just realized what this means for the old Paramount Parks! Hypers for everybody! (Morgans) ;)

Bumping them up would include cutting down the old trees and planting saplings that will provide shade 20 years later.

They can't take advantage of advertising the shade right now since everybody expects it. But if you take it away the people will eventually forget how it used to be. Then once it's grown back in, voila, instant advertising. They're just looking to the future. I can just see it now, the 2026 ad campaign, "KI, now with shade!" :)

Yeah is Good!
Well...I saw the new track for the new coaster! In fact, when we looked out our window from our room at the Breakers Express, that is what we looked at! When we arrived, it was after midnight. I saw a craine but couldn't see the track until I looked out our window Saturday morning...it was a nice surprise!

We also saw the new construction site. Along the coast, next to MF. It's going to cover a lot of ground! It's going to go over water. I can't wait to find out what it's going to be.

All in good time though. :-) *** Edited 5/31/2006 12:26:46 PM UTC by coasterlover325***

My understanding is that there is only a $2B line of credit committed. That's not the same as money actually borrowed. CF may or may not utilize more than the acquisition costs.

And, having been to several of the Paramount parks already, it looks to me as if they already meet or exceed "CF standards". Even the smaller properties are nice, certainly comparable to CF's mid-sized properties, and better than its smallest (MiA).

rollergator, I was simply attempting to point out that CF & PP both have/had their own way of running their parks. Now the new CF will have to be "rebuilt" as CF parks according to CF standards. What I wasn't insinuating is that CF standards are better than Paramount standards, just different.
I'll eat my hat if it isnt that "rotating spike" coaster

Stengal never fails...

Ok, my question is this... Why oh why are the track supports so HUGE in one section? There are 5 support footers in that area - it could be the spike, as mentioned above, but then, why the do they have gargantuan footers curving out on one side of the biggest footers, and regular sized ones on the other end? And why are they excavating/building water retaining walls around what's left of the pond there?

Could it be a aqua coaster? Does the one in Korea ever actually float on it's circuit, where they'd have to support all that water on the drop as well? It'd be a major attraction if it were the most "extreme" flume ever, and it would still be a family one to boot, with a height limit that would let the 7 year old on too (but maybe not the 4 year old)

Honestly, I dont know what this coaster is, or what to speculate other than the obvious - Intamin. After checking out those aerial photos though, coupled with the pics of the track that has arrived, layout wise Expedition GeForce came to mind. Check out the construction pics at rcdb...especially this one which shows lots of footers with no supports yet:

OK, gotcha....definitely different. And for the record, I don't think of Paramount as necessarily BETTER per se, but I would go so far as to say better *in those ways that are more important to me*. I love trees and flowers and shade...(and to beat Gonch to the punch, yes, I *am* a freakin' hippie). :)

^ matt., don't be bored....haven't you ever tried riding a Morgan hyper *sans-shirt*? :)

Steel Eel is the one "pure Morgan" that I thought really held some promise....it delivered a little, but if they'd only *tapped* the MCBR brake, we'd have gotten REALLY good rides...
