Cedar Fair 2003

I start working in food VF on sunday the 19th not sure exactly where but I will be somewhere

-----------------
2002 Sixth season in VF Foods!!!!

That aerial view is really . . . tragic. I'll appreciate the FL mega-themers more now.

Oh I didn't mean little in the amount of rides, I meant that VF is little in the amount of land it occupys. Shoot the parking lot is almost as big, if not BIGGER than the actual park. I have heard that Dorney isn't that big as well. Maybe I am just used to the sprawling MO parks that take up acres upon acres.

GO CARDINALS!!!

I read somewhere that more money will be put into Cedar Point in 2003. There maybe another coaster!!

-----------------
You Just Never Know

I have heard that CP will get the WORLDS TALLEST AND FASTEST WOODIE AND IT WILL HAVE TWO LOOPS!

-------------
Never argue with a fool for he may be doing the same

Ok, you called my bluff. I will stop BSing you. Though it seemed like a good idea at the time. I honestly have no idea what CP is doing next year. WOF and VF on the other hand are a lot closer and I have some friends there. But you know things change.

How much land does Valleyfair! own?

VF owns quite a bit, although I can't get you the exact number. They own the land between the dorms and the parking lot and I've heard that they have first rights to redevelop the swamp land behind Ex, but if they do they'd have to relocate the swampland, or something to that effect.

Valleyfair also owns some land just south (or west if you're looking at a park map) of the river.

-----------------
Flume Crew for 2002!

From my guess if you the math is right. The park it self which they use is about 85acres inside. They are saying the whole park is about 125acres and they also have undevlope land behind Thunder Canyon which I belive is about 40acres so I would say Valleyfair covers about 250acres seems right to me.

Valleyfair Security 2002! 8Years working at Valleyair :)! 10Days till Valleyfair Opens :).

So where exactly does this park flood? As in where are the flood plains that they really can no build on without having some difficulties and having a real case of "the magnum is sinking"?

the grass over flow parking area just north of the paved lots... and the north half of the paved lots... picnic cove... thunder canyon... low lying parts of excalabur... employee lot... thats usually the first thing to go (underwater)...

-----------------

What's the most the park has ever flooded?
Hmmm maybe instead of a new coaster the park should build a big retaining wall to hold back waters, or maybe the state should do a "water shed" project to help remedy such problems from occuring. I think if a river has a "knack" for overflowing/flooding a lot, it should be in the government's best interest to control it.

last season it flooded pretty good... about 75% of the front paved lots were under water... the whole (well pretty darn much) of Excalaburs helix deal was under... i got some 35mm pics laying around somewhere i'll try and scan em on up...
Well I think that if I owned a park on a river that tends to flood quite often, I would do something about it. Also why did they build the park in this location to start with? I'm sure that the river flooded well before the park arrived....oh no on second thought, it didn't start flooding until the park got there. It's all VF!'s fault. :) It just seems strange to me why anyone would build a park on a flood plain. But then Walt Disney built a park in a swamp so I guess anything is possible.

Ok, here's my two sense on this topic...

(Ghostrider costs 12 million- not including a very mini park expansion(that cost 12 million too).”

No, Ghostrider cost around 3 million. The other 9 million dollars was use for the "very mini park expansion."

Mamoosh said: We already know that according to KBF's Jack Falfas that the next coaster after Xcellerator comes in Jan 2004.

This is the one true "speculation" post on this topic...

Buzz Head said: “Knotts... Boomerang is history, to be replaced by flat rides.”

Now why would Knotts pull an attraction that gets more attention and approval from the GP than Ghostrider does?

Thank GOD IN HEAVEN that I live in SoCal and I can go to CCXXV!

Hahahaha! That has to be the single funniest thing that I've read on Coasterbuzz! Even though he doesn't know everything, becuase he is not God, he never goes around saying things that aren't true; he only says things he knows are 100% true. Thank you Mr. Larry E. Waterman (the one German word I know, besides Herr and Achterbahn, we love you Herr Achterbahn! aka Schwartzkoph....)

And those are my thoughts on some replies...

Now, for 2003, I think parks like WoF & VF! will get improvements as they have been overlooked *except* for minor improvements (this fact has been beaten into a dead horse). MiA is still too young IMHO to get much in the ways of capital improvements. CP & KBF will take a year off then get some big "stuff." For KBF, that happens to be a coaster (thanx Mr. Falfas @ WCS) and CP, I have no jackin' idea, but probably the most expensive of any of the the CF parks, as always (except this year, that fact has also been beaten into a dead horse). As for DP, I don't know, and I have no clue. Those are my words of *wisdom*.

PS "Wisdom" in my dictionary means ---

N. "Harrison (that's my name) knowledge"; knowing absolutely nothing about what you are talking about.

It was probably the same reason people build houses near major airports and then complain about the noise. The land was cheap.

ghostrider's total price tag came out to 24 million. the ride cost 12 million, the theming and immediate area around the ride (a new full service resturant and an arcade) cost roughly 12 million more. i know my sh**. ghostrider didn't cost 3 million, where the hell did you get this from? look at this
http://www.westcoaster.net/knotts/ghostrider/gr2.php

by the way, the park gained all this money by selling their foods division.

I can give a pretty good idea of what Knotts is getting in the next year or so.

A replacement for KoD. Think Exterminator.

A replacement for VertiGO. Looks like the Haunted Shack will be making a triumphant return, in a pretty different and very cool way. (There isn't one of these in the US)

Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

are these just guesses or are they supported? i hope they're supported.
