Yesterday when I was there, I was riding Gemini. On the first turn around I looked to the right, and noticed that the Dodgems were gone and that there was a footer in there,

The Dogems are at Michigan's Adventure and I'll have to see if there is footer on Saturday (5-11).

i can see knotts getting something much, much larger than a wild mouse for 2004. just remember what the park manager said at solace. i remember hearing once that Jack Falas, the GM of knotts, wanted to make golith look like a kiddie ride. i am hoping for a dark ride to replace KoD at knotts- that ride blows even for 8 year olds. i can see CF signing a contract for giant huss rides very soon. i bet CP will see one, as will KBF and WoF (possibly DP). in the long term (5 years) i see CCIs going to cp and valley fair, and a intamin perilous plunge type ride going to another cf park.

I don't think we will see any more Intamin Shoot-The-Chutes like Perilous Plunge at Cedar Fair parks. Of course, KBF's version will open, but I don't think they want any more. Look at how cautious they were about VertiGO.

A RUMOR on ACN has it that KBF's Boomerang is going to Valleyfair, and that Hammerhead will be removed because it is a mantinence nightmare (which it is!).

Valleyfair is not getting a Boomerang for 2003 I know that for sure. I dont see Valleyfair getting a Boomerang with Larry being the new GM. I would expect something bigger.

VF has the ends to get its own Boomerang without KBF's help...but if it actually were to happen, I'd guess '04 anyway.

VF fan: If there's one thing I know very well, it's VF's height requirements. I've been buying season passes since CBaby was three and Da Midget wasn't even a twinkle in my eye. I even remember when the height requirement for the Northern Lights increased from 36" to 42" (early July '99) per Chance's recommendations because suddenly Da Midget couldn't ride the only thing that scared her. The rideops were kind enough to show me the memo.

The real question for CMidget is whether she's tall enough in bare feet to hit the waterslides, ending a years-long WWL tug-of-war.

Swoosh - somehow I doubt that when Jack Falfas said "If you think Xcellerator is exciting, come back in January of 2004" he meant a mouse.

2002 - the year of IB's LoCoSuMo!!

Well I wanted to say inverted by B&M for them as well, but 3 B&Ms in one year for Cedar Fair? I was just thinking what else could fit. Also where would they put something at KBF without disrupting Ghost Town?

I know what Jack said.

I'd actually be suprised if Worlds of Fun got a Beemer in 04. I think they'll probably get a coaster, but I don't know about a B&M

Why not? A midsize B&M doesn't cost much more than a Morgan hyper. Carowinds' Top Gun and SFNE's BKF are two examples that cost approx. $10 million.

Building an extra tall model or tying in extra construction costs (a la DP) might bring the cost up...but otherwise a B&M is definitely within reach. In fact, with all the available land, a WOF installation would probably be much cheaper than one @ VF.

Cedar Fair has no interest in messing with Ghost Town. I remember Jack saying that he would do everything he could to keep that area pure. Let's just say Timber Mountain may have a neighbor soon...

Sometimes people forget how compact coasters can be. ;)

Swoosh - actually my money is on an Intamin or Morgan hyper for Knotts.

Mooshie, I would say Itamin would be the more likely canidate than Morgan.

And VFF why wouldn't WoF get a Beemer? We have so much more available FLAT land than VF, actually who says VF is getting a beemer? They may be getting a Boomerang.

First off I don't believe that I've posted that VF is getting a B&M with any great certainty, if anything I've made note that I don't know if a B&M is going in the park next year.

Secondly, the whole Boomerang thing is completely fabricated by someone outside of VF. If I were to guess some park goer from California was curious about where the 2004 attraction would go and thought that taking out boomerang and sending it elsewhere would open up a spot for them. As CoastaPlaya has pointed out VF can cover a new boomerang if it were to get one, but I have a hard time believing that Cedar Fair would go ahead with a ride that really didn't do much for Worlds of Fun when one was installed to boost total attendance.

The reason I said I'd be suprised to see Worlds of Fun get a B&M in 2004 isn't because I don't think it'd be cost effective or even because I don't think they have enough room. Its just that when I see the park's coaster lineup it seems like they're missing a family coaster. All of the current coasters in the park (aside from Wacky Worm of course) are pretty intense rides for some members of the family.

I may have mentioned somewhere in this mammoth topic that I thought a CCI wooden coaster would work well, and I stick to that. I think something like Pegasus or Zach's Zoomer would do well to fit into Worlds of Fun's lineup to offer a coaster the whole family can ride. Likewise a Setpoint Swing Thing looks like it could be another nice coaster that would fit into a family coaster that Worlds of Fun could use. Heck, even a mouse would make some sense.

I don't know much more then the next guy, I'm just a ride op. However, I can try and use my noggin to try and form some rational opinions on what could potentially happen in the Cedar Fair chain.

Well I see you reasoning, but then will also remind you that WOF has had not one, but TWO family coasters already cancelled since Mamba was built. Boomerang was not the only coaster that was supposed to be built in 2000, there was supposed to be a Mad Mouse built as well. And then in 2001, a family woodie from CCI was cancelled. So...

Worlds of Fun may be short on quite a few things, but room is definitely NOT one of them. WoF has alot more room that VF, have you ever seen an overhead shot of the park?
