Sounds to me like you really enjoyed the site but when the time comes to "put up or shut up" so to speak, you're not willing to give back some of what you've taken.
And speaking of "put up or shut up" - well those are the only two reasonable options. A distant third, less reasonable option would be to complain....repeatedly. The third option isn't going to make you, us or anyone happy and it just makes me wonder why someone who feels so strongly about the site wouldn't want to continue to be a part of it.
Regarding the price - it's been covered pretty well. If you can't come up with the equivalent of 5 1/2 cents a day, then you have bigger problems than worrying about a game site so much. And hey, 2004 is a leap year - the price drops from 5.48 cents a day to 5.46. How can you pass up a deal like that!?

Heck! with people who don't work and are still in school I'm sure $20 is about a week and a halfs worth of lunch money or less! If the game section is important that importantskip lunch for a week. I used to do it all the time to buy cassettes! ;)

This reminds me a lot of when I started the club two years ago. Let's review... No one is "making" you pay anything. You don't need to be a club member to download. As far as what I "give" you or "take away," how much were you paying before, and what is it that I owe you? What was it you did for me?
It's very clear that there is a serious generation gap between those who have grown up responsibilities and those that have everything provided for them.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree that it is a lot to pay for just uploading rides. If I didn't plan on attending CB member-discounted events, I might not have paid either and just enjoyed the new games section as a spectator.
But let's think about this. It was my impression that people came to CBuzz because of the relatively good amount of feedback by some good designers. I can't speak for anyone else, but for what its worth, I will probably cruise the other sites and continue to comment on your and other rides. Especially with the fewer uploads per day here (which I am looking forward to), I think some of the more "time-intensive" members here (think:Omar) will have plenty of time to comment on other sites as well.
So it's really not that bad. It sucks, but things won't be that different. There are some other decent sites to post on, and you can still download any rides you like here.
All I'm saying is, let's just try to look at the bright side of this :).

Sadly, he's right. There's a whole generation of kids growing up with the 'net who feel this way. Just a general lack of respect for communicating clearly.
And the secondary effect is the general lack of respect for others. This is a "community" of sorts. The general consesnsus of the community doesn't want to decypher net speak. Yet these are the people making the loudest noise about the changes...again repeating the same behavior that they're being shunned for. It's the equivalent of walking into a party, being a dick and then when everyone *****es at you for being a dick, you act like an even bigger dick. Social skills the internet does not make.
The world's going to be an interesting place in 20 or 30 years when these are the people running the world.
(end grumpy old man mode)
Then again, typing "u" instead of "you" increases your productivity by 300%, so what do I know ;)

I'm glad its done, and I can't wait to see what Gonch and KTS and Andy and others post now that they feel better about it. I totally agree with the whole Quality over Quantity thing.
And as for everything being about Jeff, Jeff, its your site. My sites are about me, even if its in a round about way or out right. It is about you, but if that bothers people, then they don't have to join/surf the site.
Glad I made the suggestion in the first place, which kickstarted Jeff's memory, and he put it as members only. Yay Jeff!
